I wanted to share with you what a blessing it was to be able to spend some time in Plaquemines Parish during a recent volunteer trip. It truly opened my eyes to the devastation that hit other areas than just New Orleans. I spent a week in New Orleans and a day in Plaquemines and to be honest, I felt better about that one day than I did the whole week.
I have told everyone that will listen about what needs to be done there. I am currently getting a group of friends together (all with construction experience) to come down within a few months to volunteer our time to help rebuilding the area. We have collectively decided that Plaquemines Parish is where I time could be best utilized, and will contact you soon to find out if you may point us in the right direction to the folks who need our help most. We all have tools, power and hand, and will bring those with us. We are just a group of people who God has placed it on our hearts to help those in need.
Again, thank you for the experience, the work, and the fellowship. It was a wonderful opportunity that will last with me for the rest of my life.
