I was stationed at Biggs from \'64 until the base was closed and we were transfered to Holloman AFB, NM. From there to CamRahn Bay, Viet Nam in F4 outfit. I was a crew chief on F100\'s. Matter of fact the next 100 down the line from FW951 you have pictured is FW866 which is one of the hun\'s I crewed. Saw the last B50 go to moth balls and was there when Juarez I was shot down over NM by NMANG F100. Met first wife there and have many good memories. My Dad was a instructor pilot in B29s during WWII based in Liberal, Ks. He told me they came to Biggs a lot with students during those years. Have a lot of old pictures if I can find them I will send them to you. Great site and thanks. |

I was stationed in the 95 CDS fro 1961 to 1965. My stay at Biggs AFB was very enjoyable and blest with many great memories. Sadly I remember very few names. I worked security, law enforcement, and K9 sections. I would like to compliment you for your work and effort in this site about Biggs. Many times I have walked security around the \"City of El Paso\" . These pictures have brought back a memories. Thank you and God Bless.JM NE |

Have posted here before. I was in the Comm/Nav shop in the A&E Sq from 1962-1965. Then transferred to Dyess when the closing was announced. I have occasion to travel thru El Paso and try to make a stop at the Old Biggs site. Certainly has changed since it was a SAC base. Cliff you are to be commended for the work you are doing to keep the memories alive of this base and the people involved. Will be visiting in Feb-Mar time frame again. Certainly brings back fond memories. |

I am a veteran, & former USAF firefighter, and I am looking for various views (esp side views) of Korean War, and esp Vietnam war era USAF crash-fire trucks, such as the O-11A & B, the P-2, the Type 155, the 530B and C, and the navy MB-5. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the great site and pictures! |

I was stationed at WAFB from 65-67 when it closed. PCS'd to Plattsburg AFB after that. I still have a/some photos and the deployment locations of the BUFFs and I think tankers along with a welcome magazine from the base. Would be happy to scan what I could and send to you for your site. I was in the 6FMS, Mechanical Accessories office. Love BUFFs. So happy to see them still flying. |

I am really impressed with all the work you have accomplished and presented here. I was stationed at Biggs AFB from early 1957 to early 1960 as a jet eng mech. (43250) in the 334th Bomb Sqdn. 95th Bomb Wing. You have brought such vivid memories back to me which I will never forget. I was so proud to be a member of SAC and to be a part of the B36 era. What an aircraft. I think I loved it more than my wife! But I do want to add that you didn't mention the 3 squadrons which these planes belonged to. I was in the 334th B.S. and our sister squadrons were the 335th B.S. and the 336th B.S. If I remember correctly each of our sqdns. had 11 planes each. I hope that you'll add this piece of info to this archive. I now am over 70 yrs. old and the memories of my time with these Beautiful BIRDS will forever live with me till the day I die. God Bless the USAF and thank you Gen Curtis LeMay and thanks for the memories. |

I would like to add a correction to my previous post. My daughter wrote that for me and stated that my nickname was "Mouse". While that was true in high school, it soon faded in the Air Force and a new nickname was given to me. In the USAF, I was known as "Carp" by my coworkers and fellow Servicemen. Also, I entered the Air Force in February of 1953, not August, as was stated. Just a couple of details that might make a difference to those that might remember me. I would love to hear from you if you do! |

Was in U.S. Airforce from August 1953 to February 1957. Stationed at Walker AFB after Mechanic School in Amarillo, TX. Worked on B-36's on flight line. Flew to Greenland, Guam (3 months) and Goosebay, Labrador. My time in the USAF holds some of the best memories of my life. My wife, Dixie, and I made lifelong friends, some of whom are now gone. We attended the first Reunion of the 6th Wing of the 40th Bombsquadron in Roswell, NM. Wow! How things had changed by then. Sad to see AFB closed and looking deserted. Would love to hear from anyone I worked with during those years. My nickname was "Mouse". It's been a very long time but sometimes seems like yesterday. |
