Saw your question and thought I would reply as I am English! I am a Coordinator of Volunteers and I have also done an English-themed 'tea'. Suggestions... Real English products - Canadian food is different, even if it has exactly the same label. There is a shop in Stevenston that sells English imported products and there is also one on called the Celtic Store on 41st or 49th and the road that follows on Nother from Arbutus (sorry can't remember the name). Creme tea with Devon clotted creme and home-made scone (the Celtic store doers a small booklet with receipes - ask which are popular). Gift bags - the above mentioned booklet would be good - I loved it and I don't bake (great oldie English piccies). Good luck!
Hi Helen:
I think your idea for a tea is fabulous! You could go to resale shops and find tea cups and saucers- and place a few small things in the cup-a tea bag-small lotion-go to a dollar store and find things. That should work. Let me know how it goes. Is your orgainizatin big? Do you have lots of volunteers?
