We recently acknowledged our museum volunteers who have served 100 hours. They were given a certificate and a gift certificate for our museum store. The best advise I heard since taking this position is to reward your volunteers with something that will help them do their job better. Many of these volunteers used their gift certificate to buy our museum exhibit catalog, which is a comprehensive book covering the history, or the "story behind" every artifact and exhibit in our museum. Because of the cost of the volume, many volunteers had not purchased it, but with their gift certificate, they simply paid the difference in the price! Make the gifts practical, and always of good quality. These folks deserve the best you can afford to give them.
