Teen and Tween programs offered

Information on some of the teen and tween programs we offer at the Glastonbury Family YMCA. Please contact me if you would like any addition information or if the Y could help with any other programs.

DRAMA PRODUCTION
Grades 3rd–8th
Join all of your friends! Find your inner talent and be a headliner in our spring production. Talent is needed both on stage and behind the scenes. Practice times to be announced. Parent volunteers are needed and welcome!


SKIING/SNOWBOARDING
Grades 4th – 9th
We will spend 5 Wednesdays beginning in January 2012, skiing or snowboarding at Mt. Southington. Different packages are available. No equipment or experience is necessary. The YMCA will pick up at all the elementary schools in town as well as Gideon Welles and Smith School and drop off at Smith School only. Parent volunteers welcome and encouraged.

PROGRAM FEE: VARIES FROM $230 - $335 DEPENDING ON PACKAGE SELECTED. $25 LATE REGISTRATION FEE AFTER NOV. 23

YOUTH & GOVERNMENT
Grades 9–12
This exciting program brings together experienced volunteers, politicians, and attorneys with high school students. It is a great opportunity to be a part of the democratic process. Students meet twice per month to prepare their bills for the convention. They will learn the basics of parliamentary procedure, and how to write research & debate bills with 300 other students from around the state of CT.

LEADERS CLUB IN ASSOCIATION WITH KJ LIFE FOUNDATION
Grades 7–12
The YMCA Leaders Club emphasizes the four character values of the YMCA, Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The KJ Life Foundations stands for Leadership Inspiration Friend to Everyone. Together the Y and KJ Life formed this teen-lead service club which provides the opportunity for leadership, community service and mentoring.

$130 paid by KJ Life Foundation

Starting in January-
ZUMBA
AGES 16 AND UP
Zumba® is a fitness program inspired by Latin dance. Zumba® consists of Latin rhythms with cardiovascular exercise to create an aerobic routine that is fun and easy to follow. The name Zumba® is derived from a Columbian word meaning to move fast and have fun.
