Just a hello...and a plea for help

Hmmmm....So Lissianna and Greg's story is at the pubs and I'm working on a historical, then I get to work on Vincent's story

Actually, I'm having good fun with the historical at the moment...which -- as anyone who's read my stories knows -- does not bode well for my characters who are suffering life's most embarrassing moments

I'm also getting ready for Christmas. Dave didn't have a single Christmas decoration here. I think he use to sleep through the holidays when he was alone. He has them now, lol. Actually, in an effort not to overwhelm him, I am slowly introducing the decorations. He gets to find a new one or two every day when he comes home . Poor guy doesn't know what's hit him.

The only problem is I haven't a clue what to get him for Christmas. Honestly! Men are so hard to buy for. Clothes are out...he warned me nicely to please not get him clothes. Aside from the fact that he has a ton of them (the man's a shopaholic), his taste differs from mine, he's a suit and tie kinda guy, and I'm more a jeans and t-shirt gal. So, if anyone has any brilliant ideas about what to get the guy who has everything, please speak up.

Anyway, hope you're all well and on happily getting ready for Christmas yourselves! Lynsay

Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

I find that food always works.. at least with my father. Food or tools. Does he have any hobbies? Favorite performers who might be in town soon?

Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

Food won't work for him unfortunately. There's nothing he particularly likes, he eats everything.

As for hobbies, music. Loves music and has a good twenty gazillion cds. Gets a couple delivered every week. I couldn't even tell you who he doesn't have. I don't think there's anyone he doesn't have.

The performers part was a good idea, except we already have a trip to Scotland planned in January. We're going for a week to see his favorite two bands at a music festival there. Sheesh!

Thanks for trying though, lol.

Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

What about something like a boombox that plays mp3's? Is he allowed something like that at work? It's a way for him to get a lot of music he likes on one disc.
Does he have a tie rack? portable MP3 player? something for your Scotland trip? does he play computer games? read at all? movies?

Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

OH! Good thinking on the tie rack! The man has tons of expensive silk ties and I'm always tripping over the bloody things cause he leaves them about. Oh, that's a good one....hmmm...I sure hope he doesn't visit my message board. LOL. I don't think he does, but...sigh...hmmm.

The mp3 player's a good idea too.

While I like computer games, no, he doesn't play them, although we do play chess on line, which would probably seem weird to others, lol. We're sitting in the same room, on two different computers, online at msn, playing chess and hahahaing at each other when we make bad moves. You'd think we'd just get a chess board wouldn't you? LOL.

He's not big on movies, but yes on the reading, we spend a lot of nights curled up on the couch reading together, each with our own books, however, books are something else we have tons of. I mean, we seriously have tons. We both get them every time we step out of the house as well as order them online. Next time we move, I think we should get a house with a library. Unfortunately, we have different taste in books too. He reads the oddest things. Well not odd, but things I never would and not in one genre or anything. A lot of autobiographical stuff, but about people I don't think are that interesting...or have never heard of. So I wouldn't even be able to begin to guess what to get him in that area.

I really like the tie rack idea as one of his gifts. I shall have to look around and see what's about. Thanks Jennifer.

Re: Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

Wow, I feel your pain Lynsay! My hubby isn't into sports, fishing, hunting, clothes or anything else that 'normal' men seem to like! He picks his own computer games and we read different types of books! Arrrgggghhh
Hmmm...if he wore ties I'd get him a tie rack LOL

Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

How about a weekend at a Luxury Resort for the two of you...:) My sister did that for her husband who owns his own business and works to hard. He really enjoyed himself...or I could say they enjoyed each other...LOL..)

Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

OK.. I have to know.. what did you finally decide on?

Re: Just a hello...and a plea for help

Hmmm, well hopefully he doesn't check here tonight. Wouldn't want him to know until after he gets them. I ended up getting him a bunch of little things. A proper expensive gold lighter is the biggest part. I got it for him in the hopes that he'll stop stealing MY lighters, lol. A gold tie clip, a tie rack, cologne, gloves, shoe care kit (yes he polishes his shoes) and basically lots of other things for stocking stuffers, you know, socks, boxers and so on And a week in Scotland in January, there's a music festival there he wants to go to. Sooooo, everyone stay hush till after tomorrow please

Hope you're all having a SAFE and happy holiday season!
