Class warfare may always be with us as long as there are those unwilling to realize that life is basically just that, existence! Kinda like a club card that lets you in this world but confers no especial privilege's. Members may be fat or skinny, short or tall, born with black hair or blond hair, smart or dumb, conniving or trusting, born to nurturing parents or mere accidents of casual carnal lust, on an island or in a desert. In this club of living beings apparently there are unbendable facts. A pasture can only feed so many horses, there is only so much water, oil, ore, energy sources, etc. We, in the U.S.A. seem to be slightly luckier than others. However sheer human qualities of envy, hatred, jealousy, self worth, indolence, etc. seem to contaminate enough of these fortunate residents to make it miserable for all. A miniscule sample of misunderstandings in our midst is of the rationale of a luckier individual that cannot understand why his standards of hard work, personal ethics, faithful adherence to beliefs, all are still implicitely criticized by bombarding articles from elements of self-appointed judgmental press... it all makes for a quandry of psuedo-philosophical puzzles... |

Some time around 2004 I received an email with your "What I Am" essay. I liked what I read and agree. This early morning I read your other essays for the first time that I recall. I pray that God will continue to bless you, Sir. I was born in Alabama and raised in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi during the 1950's and 60's by conservative parents who taught the 4 of us kids respect for others. I thought I was a conservative Democrat until I voted Republican during the 1972 presidential election (the first time I was elegible to vote). A couple of years later I found out that my Dad and his Dad were Republicans in the Deep South, a very distinct minority. My Dad grew up on a share-crop farm and worked the fields 6 days a week. After WWII, with small children, he worked nights in a cotton mill and went to school during the day to complete his high school education and attend business school. He taught me volumes with his quiet demeanor, his faith in God, and treatment of others. Mom and Dad are now in their early 80's and continue to teach me about love and responsibility, even when they do not know it. You, sir, remind me of my Dad. Although our religions differ your ideals and beliefs are nearly the same. I pray God continues to bless and keep you. Some day we will meet. Greetings from Winter Springs, FL. |

Go on fighting the good fight. I could not agree more. Any argument with the left is bound to get personal long before the trump card of “fascist” is finally played. Facts mean nothing. And let any one dare speak out against the Chosen One if he or she wants to face a barrage of anger and vitriol. |

Thank you for being willing to put your money where your mouth is. I appreciate your standing up and saying what I believe to be the truth. I love this great country of ours and have been growing more and more concerned about her. But if there is still people like you willing to take a strong stand for her, she may be OK. I pray to God this is so. We are so close now to our national elections, may we all really look beyond the surface of the candidates and try to see who they really are. I will be praying that on election day as each of us places our vote we will be thinking about our countrys future and not our political affillations. |

Is there some way that I can print out all the pages in your commentaries, so that I can send them to my four children who were brain-washed in college? They won't listen to me, but I think that they would read what you have to say. For some reason I now can only print out the first page. Thank you so very much for your good work! |

Global warming is NOT as serious as they pretend. NYC is NOT going to be flooded soon, even if the ice cap melts. More serious & ABSOLUTE is the threat of nuclear war which can destroy more than the ice cap. US TREASON has armed 100 nations with nuclear BOMBS! Atoms for Peace & other illegal US programs did this since 1943. Bush LIED!! He had greater evidence of Iraq's nuclear bombs because his father & others helped to build them & Iran's bombs under the Shah. A US-Iran war could kill FIVE million US citizens!!! I want the US to initiate disarmament by converting all nuclear power plants to burn wood, waste & WATER, & to explode enriched material in space. This would be a start |

Wow. You're not interested in a non biased media. You're interested in shoving your belief system down our throats! I was truly interested in a serious discussion about truth in media, and feel robbed. I was hoping SOMEONE out there didn't have an "agenda", instead I believe you are part of the problem. Next time address ALL media sources, not just the ones you disagree with. By the way I'm a republican. |

So what is your point Mark M ? Mr. Esseff takes out a huge, expensive ad saying global warming is a joke... with backup data and 35,000 scientists (or more) believe and sign up to refute the IPCC? Are you on this blog to fight with Mr. Esseff? Bottom line: there is plenty of data at both the the NSIDC and Cryoshere folks at the U of I to confirm that...*sigh* ...no one can detect that global ice is declining any more than it has done throughout history...(don't forget they had full farms in Iceland and Greenland a few hundred years back). So I am quitting this blog with the following farewell: Vote for Palin the total airhead. McCain, who can't seem to do anything but nothing for the past 26 years in Congress. And vote for Rush Limbaugh...Mr. smoking, drug-addict...who just can't survive without Clinton as his main source of material. This site is such a joke. I can not wait until this NEXT winter arrives and the ice cap grows again.............. |

Wrong again, Mr. Strong! If you're going to assert with such relish and certainty that you've looked at the Arctic ice data, please make sure that you can actually and CORRECTLY interpret the data. First, all the charts on the Univ. of Illinois website chart a disturbing, overall DOWNWARD trend in the amount of sea ice cover. Second, and more to your point, NASA has recorded no such 9.4% increase in Arctic ice cover. In fact, it is nearing a new low in total ice cover, and MAY HAVE MELTED AWAY BY AS MUCH AS HALF. THAT'S 50%, Mr. Strong. I take no comfort in proving you wrong. It annoys the hell out of me to live in a country where so much depends on people basing their decisions on knowing the truth, yet have been foiled by so much WILLFUL AND COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE IGNORANCE THAT HAS BEEN AIDED AND ABETTED BY THE PROPAGANDA AND PORNOGRAPHY OF BIG OIL THAT WILL SAY AND DO ANYTHING TO KEEP THE GREENHOUSE GAS PIPELINES OPEN!!! See below. http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/sea_ice_nsidc.html http://news.cnet.com/8301-17912_3-10043977-72.html NASA has issued a preliminary report confirming environmentalists' fears of disappearing sea ice at the Arctic. Sea ice is the thick permanent ice formed by frozen ocean water that remains even as seasonal ice melts away in the summer. In the past, it has covered about 60 percent of the Arctic. The sea ice at the Arctic has now been found to have melted away by as much as half, according to a preliminary report issued Tuesday by NASA and the NASA-supported National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado. "According to NASA-processed satellite microwave data, this perennial ice used to cover 50 to 60 percent of the Arctic, but this winter it covered less than 30 percent," NASA said in a statement. It is the second-smallest amount of coverage since NASA began monitoring the situation in 1979. The Artic's sea ice coverage this September is about 33 percent below average, compared with the record low of 39 percent below average recorded in 2007. |

Thank you Mr. Esseff,Sr for taking the time and using your own money for putting into print what most of us out in America think and feel every day. Where is our voice in the main stream media; we are made fun of and ridiculed, and called racist. All we want is the truth and we'll make up our minds with out it being shoved down our throats. Thanks Again for your act of courage !!! |

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.80 billion per day since September 28, 2007. And that's just the interest! Enough said. Thank you Mr. Bush! |

Um...my data on the Arctic Ice Cap comes from NASA and the University of Illinois which tracks the data. I don't make this up. As of TODAY, the Arctic has 9.4% more ice than last year's big low since the 1930s which was REALLY low. The Antarctic is still huge this year! The ocean has not risen. Don't trust me...look at NASA and the facts. http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/ You can watch it all as shown. ...to quote ignorant people: "Don't cofuse me with facts!" Um...and before Columbus... the Earthy was flat. |

I've been a registered Republican for 40 years, and I share Mr. Esseff's comment that I didn't leave the party, the party left me...except in opposite terms. I find it interesting that Mr. Esseff is the epitome of a Catholic male and is bemoaning the fact that the Democratic Party became so much accepting of women's rights, including the right the choose, while I, albeit not a women's libber, deeply resent the GOP's Pro-Life stance. Unfortunately, the GOP has created the most bitter party divide in our history and it may well prove to be stake that destroys our country. What a pity that so many right-wingers don't see the difference between "righteous" and "self-righteous", or holy and holier than thou.... |

Once again the so-called conservatives believe their own propaganda, simply because to believe anything else robs them of their all-vital cloak of having all the answers to questions they don't understand. Mr. Strong, I don't where you have gotten your information, but the Arctic ice SHRUNK to recorded lows and, if the trend continues, the Arctic will be devoid of ice by 2020. Polar bears have been seen 40 miles from shore, swimming to find ice -- but the nearest ice was 400 miles away and they would drown long before they got there. Kudos to you for caring enough about the environment of the earth you live on to learn and accept the truth. The satellite data you have consulted must be from Mars. FACT: the Arctic region is the warmest it has been in known history. If it is warmer, it stands to reason that ice cover will not form or will in fact shrink. FACT: Most recently, an ice chunk the size of Manhattan -- 23 square miles -- broke from the Greenland ice sheet. While 23 square miles is a bucketful in a million square miles of ice, the fact is that dozens of such chunks or their equivalent have cracked, on both the northern and southern poles. FACT: Mountain glaciers all over the world are in retreat and in the Himalayas, you may be concerned to know, alone provide the source of drinking and irrigation water for much of northern India and other parts of southern Asia. FACT: the more ice that melts the less white surface there is to reflect sunlight and hence the warmer the water and earth surface in the surrounding region will grow, bringing more melting. Basic global warming tutorial over. But if you and millions of others apply the same reasoning and command of facts to other issues -- alternative energy, Bush government ideology and accountability, corporate taxes, etc. -- that you do to climate change, then the U.S. is probably doomed to a slow, excruciating fade into the 21st century sunset. |
