Northern Branch - Newcastle/Shimna meet 20-22 July ITINERARY
We hope you can all join us at the foot of the beautiful Mourne Mountains for the next Northern Branch meet in Newcastle, County Down this weekend (20th-22nd July).
As promised below is a brief itinerary and list of a few attractions/activities in the area.
1.30pm - Site Opens
8:30pm - Meet and greet (bring a cup)
11am - Kids club
2pm - Group walk up Slieve Donard (weather permitting) for those interested
8:30pm - Table quiz
12pm - Coffee morning (bring a cup)
There is plenty to do in Newcastle and the surrounding areas:
1- Slieve Donard - obviously the mountains have to be the first attraction :)
2- Donard Park - trails, football pitch etc., just a short walk from our site
3- Murlough nature reserve - just a short drive from our site and located on the Dundrum road
4- Silent Valley and Ben Crom reservoirs - located a short drive up into the Mourne mountains
5- Tollymore Forest Park - a beautiful forest park just a short drive away
6- Royal County Down Golf Club - 18 hole championship golf course and one of the oldest courses in Ireland and just a short drive/15 mins walk away
7- Slieve Donard Hotel and Burrendale Hotel have spa facilities (booking recommended) - just a short drive/15 mins walk away
8- Coco's Adventure Playground - indoor play area for the young kids (particularly useful on those rainy days) and located on the main street.
9- Soak Seaweed Baths - for those looking something a little different. Offering hot saltwater and seaweed baths and just a short walk from our site.
10- And obviously there are lots of arcades, shops, bars and restaurants on the main street as well as the beach and promenade area to visit.
