Today we are hosting our second Junior qualifier of the year and we had a great turnout again, with 29 boats. We will be hosting the first adult qualifier next Saturday going out of Lake Barkley State Park. We are looking forward to another great season. Our State Team represented our state well at the Southern Divisional. Please join me in congratulating Tim Hennemann on earning the berth to advance to the 2012 FNC.
During the 2011 State Championship we had several suggestions presented to the membership on considering possible new formats, etc. Board shared with the membership then that we would put together a committee to gather data and feedback from the membership over the 2012 year. There were no changes to our qualifiers or state championship format this year. We did take in consideration all of the feedback from all of you considering AOY being placed on the state team. Please make note of the revised rule change for 2012.
27. Qualifying for KBFN State Team: The KBFN will hold a 2-day state championship by which 30 boaters and 30 non-boaters will compete to become the 14 man KBFN State Team (7 competing boaters and 7 competing non-boaters) to compete in the following year B.A.S.S. Southern Divisional. The 12 competing positions will be determined by each individual final result's during the state championship respectively. The 2 AOY positions will be awarded automatically to the state team, 1 boater and 1 non-boater. The only other state team member to compete on the team, if needed to compete, will be assigned to the Team Captain which will be the KBFN President, KBFN Vice-President or one of the Regional Directors or Officers. During the time frame from the end of the State Championship until the Southern Divisional competition, any state team member who cannot fulfill their obligation to the team will have the ability to step down and be replaced. If this removal takes place 90 days or more prior to the Southern Divisional tournament then the replacing angler will be the next in line from the State Championship results, either from the boater or non-boater based on who left the team. If in the event the removal takes place during the 90 days or less, then the Team Captain will be used, as boater or non-boater (whichever is needed) and there will be NO replacements to backfill the KBFN State Team.
