Weird...I know 7.lbs and 8.lbs are out there..but on a personal average of 20 tournament a year, for the past 10 years; I've yet to see any brought to the scales, in any tournament I've been in. I've allways said that if the world record smallmouth goes down...it will come from Green River Lake. I know there are some pigs in there...Saw Don o.'s bass he caught on green river lake during a practice period, quite a few years ago, I think it was pushing 7.lbs. My largest Ky. spot came from Green...4lbs!!
Many many 6+lbs brought to the sclaes...but I haven't seen not one 7+ or an 8+ in any tournament I've seen in a very long long time. I did catch a 7+ pounder per-fishing for the state this year on Ky. Lake..23 1/2 inches long..in 4 feet of water. It kept me fishing shallow the entire tournament...mistake!
