Christians and, hopefully, soon-to-be Christians.  Welcome to our Discussion Board.

I know that many of you were disappointed that we had to suspend our old board due to so much spam.  We were having so much fun presenting and defending the Gospel of Christ.  Hopefully, we have resolved that problem while maintaining ease of access for our visitors.

We encourage ALL posters to be respectful in your posts as we will have many visitors who may never post, but will read your posts in diligent search of... "For what saith the scripture?"... on any given topic.

Please be reminded that Dr. Jack Evans rarely, if ever, visits or posts comments on this board. The board is for the benefit of those who seek Bible Answers to Bible Questions. Various points of view will be given on this forum, so we encourage each of you to study and support your views

"Instructions Through Dreams, Visions, And Scriptures"

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [instruction] in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." II Timothy 3:16,17

"For God may speak in one way or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, and [seals their instructions]." Job 33:15

God still speaks in different ways through His Body, the Church. Hebrews 1:1 cf. I Corinthians 12:3-7

The Spirit of God speaks to [some] through dreams and visions, sometimes with and without interpretations.

Sometimes the dreamer and/or visionary must seek the help of an interpreter in the Body of Christ, if the Lord withholds the interpretation. Mark 4:22-25

Was not Daniel an interpreter of dreams and visions through the Spirit of Christ that was in Him? Daniel 5:12

That same gift has been set in the Body of Christ manifested as the Spirit wills in differing measures! I Corinthians 12:10;14:27,28

Has God ever spoken to you in a dream or a vision with instructions warning you not to make a certain decision, but you paid it no attention or did not seek an interpretation from the Lord or someone spiritual or prophetic, in the Body? I Corinthians 14:37-40

Again, it is written,

"Your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams." Acts 2:17b

Both sons and daughters see visions and dreams of God.

God is still speaking through dreams and visions today; sealing instructions in the hearts of his sons and daughters and often times we perceive it not.

Does this mean that all of our dreams and visions are from God, absolutely not. Does this mean that God instructs only through dreams and visions? Of course not.

Most of our dreams and visions come from our own overactive souls and spirits. We must be discerning enough to know when the dreams and visions are from our own heads or from the Head of the Body, Christ Jesus! There is a difference.

"For a dream comes through [much activity], and a fools voice is known by his many words." Ecclesiastes 5:3

Nevertheless, when God does choose to instruct us through a day dream or a night dream we cannot always attribute our dreams to indigestion!

In like manner, God gives instructions also through the inspiration of Scriptures.

For example, the apostle Paul received his ministerial assignments through both; dreams and visions and the written word of God.

The written word may give us general instructions about going into all the world and preching the gospel to the lost and confirming those who are saved. But if we are going to get [specific and detailed instructions] like "Arise and go to the street called Straight and inquire at the house of Judas...," Acts 9:11; "Come over to Macedonia and help us," Acts 16:9; "Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza," Acts 8:26; "Go near and overtake this chariot," Acts 8:29; and such like we need to be opened to dreams, visions and other prophetic revelations!

Can we get our instructions through the Scriptures? Yes we can,

Paul and Barnabas, no doubt, giving attendance to reading the prophet Isaiah received instructions by the inspiration of God confirming their call to the Gentiles. Let Paul and Barnabas speak for themselves,

"Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, 'It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord [commanded] us:
'I have set [you] as a light to the Gentiles, that [you] should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.'" Acts 13:47

One day while reading this the [you] in this text called both Paul and Barnabas by name!

The sufferings of the cross and the glory to follow are in the [details] of our instructions.

Despise not the various speakings of God to His Body!
