Holy ****, Mackey, I can't believe you're still alive! It just happens that I found one of my old 92 SPS patches from an old pickle-suit, and the old black ball cap with the red SP on the front. Then I see that you're still kicking. Wow. I figured Exxon would be making oil out of you by now! I ran into Dane Gilman this summer (if you remember him). He's still an IMA attached to Fairchild. Some of the other old guys are still around that area too.

Re: Welcome to all Air Police/Security Police/Security Forces

Tsgt Mackey,
Great site, brings back alot of memories. Especially, the academy picture with Don Wright in it. The academy was my last assignment, LE side of the house and Don was the Course Chief. Don was a great guy, and boy did I present him with alot of headaches. Kidding aside, he was a great supervisor, and my time in the USAF/Security Police 10 year, will always remain fresh and positive. I wish you contiunued success with the site and keeping the Blue Beret spirit alive.

Best wishes,

Luke Daley

First time in the site. I was with the 461st. Air Police Squardon Bllytheville, Ark. Then I was with of the 36th Air Police Squardon K-9 unit 1957-1960 Bitburg, Germany. It feels like a hundred years ago.
Site looks good.

Best to all who are serving.

Tom

I retired out of Ramstein AB back in 1994 where I was assigned to the 569th US Forces Police. I was a SP for my entire career.

Man, what a RIDE my career was. I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

I was stationed at MacDill, RAF Welford/Greenham Common, Andrews, Osan, Hill, Madrid/Royal Oaks, and Ramstein along with more than one adventure to rather uncomfortable areas of the world. But those were my Squadrons.

This is a good site, I like it. Alot of work went into doing this and I commend you for it Tom.

I sincerely thank you

The web site is great. See you have old badges, both me and my wife were on LE side in the 80s, and early 90s. I am restoring a 79 Ford Fairmont to a USAF Police car as there are none out there. I am looking for good shots of the decals and interiors, equipment ie radio and siren controls. If you have any please email me. Thanks. Let me know if I can do anything for you. Hey - I'm restoring an '88 Plymouth Gran Fury (Mcguire AFB - old '88B1077'). I've been serving since 1984 & had been looking for an old SP car for years. I also used to be the VCNCO at the 438th Security Police Sqdn. and now I'm an I/M/A out of McGuire. If I come across any info - I'll forward it to you.

Re: Welcome to all Air Police/Security Police/Security Forces

Thanks, I have had some trouble locating archive photos or vehicle information as to exact equipment. I am working on memory and it is going!! I have several friends with restored furys 69-89. All are original. You can see them on flickr.com type in CT State Police Cars and navigate to ROADDOGCT. Best of luck and if need be contact me direct at my email address roaddogct@aol.com

Re: Welcome to all Air Police/Security Police/Security Forces

Tom Mackey, well I'll be!!! God those 314th pictures brought back the memories. I was there from 83-85 when I got out on the fat boy program. One of those Guardmount pictures shows by ex-wife Mary Jane....I think after I sent her to go marry Jesse Burnett LOL. The Neely picture I remember vividly. I remember I was either on-duty, or coming on-duty when that chow hall shooting happened. I did some escorts during his trial too, with Frank Weatherspoon. Do you remember the "NEW" Ford LTD II we got, that had to be run down the taxiway once a day to "blow it out" and we could only refuel them out at the roadrunner so we could get Premium? I think when I left, we had like 3 of them. Last time I saw Max Bellew a few years ago he was working as a contract Court Security Officer at the Federal Courthouse here in Little Rock with no other than..... Ed Rush!!! Shoot me an email sometime, or if you facebook at all, look me up!

Re: Welcome to all Air Police/Security Police/Security Forces

Just a shot in the dark here, but trying to locate a Jim or James Bugarelly, not sure if spelling is correct. He was stationed as an USAF air police in the UK around Oxford in the late 50's early 60's, possibly Brize Norton. If anyone has heard of him or knows any history of his whereabouts or family members please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Welcome to all Air Police/Security Police/Security Forces

I ran across your site by accident while searching the term SPS and was quite surprised to find out it stood for security police. I was stationed at Fairchild from September 1975 to April 1965, while station at Fairchild it was known as the 92 Combat Defense Squadron and we lived off base at a location called Deep Creek which was the MMS area, I later transferred to Missile security and spent the remaining part of my tour working the old atlas missile sites.

April of 1965 I deployed to Harmon AFB Stephenville, Newfoundland and joined the 4081st Combat Defense Squadron and spent the remainder of my tour working base police before being discharged.

I found some of your pictures quite interesting especially the AP's wearing the **** pots seeing how we never wore them when I was still in the AF. Here is a picture that was taken the winter of 1964 at Deep Creek.

The last picture was taken in Newfoundland at Harmon Air Force Base.

Notice you credit MSgt Gary Rome as providing some of the info posted on the 92 SPS. I worked with Gary when I was stationed at Fairchild from 1985-88. Do you have contact info for him? Please pass on my name and e-mail address if you do.

If you are speaking of the one with a letter and 5 numbers, it was developed for the female uniform. It was discontinued when the cloth patch and uniform changes were implemented.
