Moving

Wellllllllll! So, okay Mr. Spice, myself, and Terri (aka the house elf ) have been rather busy the last couple weeks what with interviewing SCADS of realtors and taking care of a ridiculous amount of nonsense necessary to sell the house. But--finally--there may be light at the end of the tunnel. I think we've finally settled on the realtor and the house should be on the block within the next day or two . . . which brings about it's own set of problems. (Grimace, eye rolling and heavy sigh here)

As you can imagine, with the house on sale, possible buyers will be traipsing through the house at different times of the day, week, month. This can be a pain for just about everyone since it means keeping the house in tip top shape, clean, dusted and looking it's best at ALL times. But with the three of us working out of the house, having to fold up business, gather up Miss Emma and all her gunk and rush out of the house at the drop of a hat is not going to be fun. Actually, it isn't even viable in my opinion. I have two books to write this month and doing it while playing hide and seek with possible buyers is just horrifying to contemplate.

Soooooo, Mrs. Spice said to Mr. Spice and house Elf, "Nope, not gonna happen. We're renting during the sale and then continuing to rent until we find our dream house on the water. That way there will be no interrupted writing, no rushing Emma out of the house, no messing up so no constant cleaning of the house." Mr. Spice and House Elf Tori thought that was a brilliant idea.

Yipee!! So then Tori the house elf had to start calling around about house rentals and we have been wandering around looking at places and wondering where on earth people rent all those houses we know MUST be out there, lol.

Anyway, we may have found a rental we are pleased with . . . Well, we ARE pleased, but the fellow who owns the house may have been horrified by my ceaseless, cheerful chatter and has possibly run home swearing to himself that there is no way on this green earth that he would rent to us. LOL. In fact, he may even now be punching in our phone number to tell us this very thing. . . The phone isn't ringing yet but may still do so.

If not though, it may be another problem solved which then leads to half a dozen new ones such as renting a vehicle (and possibly a couple of half-naked brawny men to help move --do movers come topless do you think? [Stop snorting Mr. Spice, you know I'm teasing you. I wouldn't want half-naked-man-sweat-and-body-oils on my good wood furniture . . . bwahahahahaha]) and deciding what we can move with us and what to leave behind and then arranging power and internet and and and and and . . . ahhhhh, life.

Point is, forgive us if we are even more absent than usual for the next little while.

Re: Moving

Lynsay,

I feel your pain, I will going through the same thing in about a month. My hubby is in Georgia and I am in Florida waiting to move!(YUK!)

As for the brawny, half naked men... if I come across any I will let you know! (although I think you might have to pay a little more!..and don't worry about the furniture, just have them grease up in wood polish! )
My family wants me to try to show our house while I am waiting, but with 3 kids all under the age 9, trying to keep any kind of order is hard enough without keeping it perfect!

Hey if Mr. Spice has a problem with the movers being topless, just tell him, he can join in...then YOU will have something yummy look at!

Gena of the AE4!

Re: Moving

Sorry Gena, I reposted both our messages because I had "that that" instead of "thought that" but your icons didn't move with the copy paste. Sheesh!! If you want to repost with icons I will erase the one I copy and pasted, but it's up to you.

Lynsay

Good luck with the rental, sale and move. It is hard on most two footed people. But the stress is worse on our furbabies and house elves.

We wish you all the peace and quite you need. Because not only do we care about you but we know how you can get having tow or more stories going at once. You do not need to be in the middle of something then the phone rings for the Realtor to show you house.

Hopefully it will sell fast and then all you have to do is concentrate on finding your dream home.

Wouldn't want you to be too overload. May cease production of new book and that is unbearable. All kidding aside these things have a way working themselves out and just when you think you won't find the place that is right for you bam there it just waiting for you to move in.

Re: Moving

Oooh! If you find your dream house could you possibly have a bedroom that says KELLI on it and let me move to England with you?

Re: Moving

Hmmm...I thought y'all were staying in Canada and looking for your dream house there! What's the deal, Spice Team?

Or, Kelli, are you just dreaming of England yourself?

Oh, well, Lynsay, Mr. Spice, House elf Tori, and Emma,
just hang in there and it will all come together!

Hopefully the beautiful house that you have called home will sell quickly to someone else who needs it to be home. Then, since you will already be in a rental, you won't be rushed to move into your new home, but can take your time finding what you really need and want and having things packed, and then move as needed.

When we moved into our current home, we were like a stack of dominoes lined up. The people selling to us were waiting so that they could build a new home (just down the street, but their children had grown up and they had found a new house plan), we were waiting on the people who had a bid on our house, and they were waiting to see if the bid on their house was approved. Well, it was, and we all went falling into place like dominoesSmileyCentral.com...but it was so hectic packing and moving with 5yo & 3yo boys and a Bassett Hound. We had some good friends and family to help!

So, in one week-end...all the papers were signed on Friday...the people in our new house moved into a rental until their new house was built, we moved into our house, the people who bought our house moved into it, and the people who bought their house moved into it! Sunday was Easter...so we did this all from Friday to Sunday, but we were too exhausted to go to Easter services at church the next morning. Well, the people who bought ours partially moved into our old house. The new owner wanted to paint my green house brown...again. At least it was a better brown than the paint on it when we first moved into it, and technically it was her house by then!(Although the green looked better...My Frog Prince has a great eye for color...that's why I take him shopping with me! Ah, a gift that Lucian has...my dh has it also! )

So...I think going into the rental now is a wise idea, Mrs. Spice, especially as you all work out of the home. Then, it will be easy to keep the house for sell clean and it can be shown at any time without it being a problem for anyone!

Good luck, and here is hoping that everything falls into place for you quickly! wren

Re: Moving

Ohhhh Dear Lynsay,
I think it was brilliant of you to think of renting until you find your dream home. My friend has to pack up her 3 dogs and hit the road at all hours. Plus the constant vacumming.
Where are you looking for a home on the water? SmileyCentral.com

Re: Moving

Linda, the one good thing I did when I was selling my first home, was insist on only certain show times and if it really couldn't be done they had to square with us first! I was not about to pack up a baby...(at the time my oldest was only 8months old) every time someone decided to come and see my home.
It made life a little easier!!
