Denise Apr 28th, 2008 - 10:29 AM Re: The Rogue Hunter

Weird things going on with the forum. My post on here from last night disappeared, and one of the recents posts on another topic is out of sequence.

So, my post again. The reddish tones of the cover are in keeping with the last three covers that had color undertones (blue, gold, silver). I'm wondering what the next one will be... green? blue?

Kim Apr 27th, 2008 - 7:37 PM Re: The Rogue Hunter

The entire myspace page has that same red background so it might just be from that. I'm guessing she really wouldn't have the people's skin be red, right?

I like the font they used for the title and the little moon and bat that the word Rogue is on top of. And the couple is very sexy.

Jill Apr 28th, 2008 - 3:52 AM Re: The Rogue Hunter

Oh yes the cover is very ummm (for lack of a better word) yummy.
*******************************************************************************

Hmmm...I have noticed the forum doing funny things like that also, Denise.

Denise is correct...the colours of the last three books did go blue, gold, silver(almost a "pearlescent" silver ~ and Marguerite's name means "pearl.")

If you go look at the covers of your books, you will see that the last three do have the people shaded in the colour of that book. It is not really so much an undertone like the earlier books, such as ABTR and BMIYC, as it is a slightly metallic overtone with Lynsay Sands in matching matallic letters at the top. Except for VI, which has Lynsay's name and the title in red, to offset the silver. Even the bit of Julius that you see behind Marguerite is in silver, although they did use a black background so it would show up better. The titles on TAV and VAF are both in white, since they are printed on the coloured part of the book on top of the people.

So, I do think the people will be "subtly red" and I do agree with Denise that we have a new cover art style going...and personally, I like it. We have had blue, so I'm going to guess green for the next book, Denise...or maybe pink or purple or a dark blue instead of teal...depends on who the book is about, I suppose.

The books have an even classier look now, and even if reprints don't have the foil font and metallic colours, they should still be very pretty. I certainly hope that Avon will continue to publish the reprints in this new style, instead of going to the flat colours and leaving off the foil fonts. Look on back of the books, and you will see a small picture of what it would look like without the metallic overtone...so I think the books will stay looking nice either way.

Does anyone else think there might be a similarity in the picture of Thomas and the picture of Mortimer...same model, perhaps? I can't tell if the female models are the same. I keep picturing Sam as blonde(the name makes me think of Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched one of my all-time faves, btw) but I think she will be brunette. Especially as she is thin and reminds Mortimer of Olyve Oyl. Mortimer is blonde, right? You can't go by the cover models, because they often don't match the description of the character in the book.

And, as Kim and Jill put it so well, the couple is SEXY and the cover is...one of my favorite ways to express it...YUMMY!

wrenSmileyCentral.com who is ready for autumn reading NOW!!

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Wren I don't think the guy on the cover looks like the guy on the cover of VAF. The guy on the cover of VAF most definitely is what I pictured Thomas to look like though, which just made him even more sexy.

Yes Mortimer is blonde and like you, I can't wait until this fall and be able to curl up with Mortimer...oh I mean Mortimer's book.

As for Sam, I think she may be a brunette or may have raven colored hair. I was thinking "my sister sam" instead of "Bewitched" Samantha.

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Well according to the cover she's going to have dark hair, and btw how do you girls know that Mortimer's lifemate is going to be Sam?

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Yes, maybe so, but Mortimer is a blonde and that guy on the cover isn't. Inez was also dark headed and had wild curly hair, the model on the cover of VAF looked nothing like her.

Lynsay had said in one of the entries that although she describes the characters in the book, it's up to the publisher to decide what they put on the cover, or who models for the cover.

Sam was mentioned in one of the posts somewhere, I'll have to find it. It was in an interview Lynsay gave in 2006, talking about the 3 book release and working on the first enforcer book (Mortimer). She talks about his lifemate being named Sam and that she is a Olive Oyl type (tall, lanky, awkward looking). I'll see if I can find it.

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Ok Acal, I found it.

Apr 15, 08 - 7:07 PM Look what I found! A small *spoiler* for Mortimer's story!

Just out of idle curiosity I did a search using the words "Lynsay Sands message board" to see if there were any other fans out there talking about the Argeneaus.

And I found this board where Lynsay posted a message in which she says the heroine of Mortimer's story is called Sam and describes her as overly thin like Olive Oyl. See for yourself:

Unless I spefically state they're thin like in the Vamp I finished before this. The heroine Sam is thin, but overly so. In fact the hero, Mortimer, thinks of her as Olive Oyl at first until he starts to fall in love and sees her beauty. (grin)

Re: The Rogue Hunter

lol - we must have found it at the same time.

Re: The Rogue Hunter

You know what they say about "Great minds..."

Re: The Rogue Hunter

I don't know...that Mortimer model looks like the Thomas model, just from a different angle. And with the red it makes it harder to judge...but if it is him...ooh la la...yummy

I liked him the first time he modeled! He made Thomas step right off the pages, which doesn't happen that often with the cover art. He can be all of the young male immortals on the covers if he wants!

wrenSmileyCentral.comwho thinks The Rogue Hunter cover is HOT!

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Oh I know, I wanted to yank the female model off the cover and step right in her place. I agree that is the first cover model that looks like the character just stepped off the pages.

All the covers so far have been yummy. Still get chills over the VI cover with the male cover model bending towards her neck. Ok now I have goose bumps.

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Hmmm...I wouldn't mind having me a plate of Argeneau - first on the menu Lucern then we will see whose is the next course

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Thanks Stauri, now I remember!

Hmm it looks to me though that he has blonde hair on the cover

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Oh yea, VI one of my favs, but AV...still has the yummiest looking piece of male I have seen in a long time....

BTW...how long did it take fr you to notice there is a girl on that cover as well!!!
For Me....I only just realised it about a day or so ago when i went to reread it...

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Ok now I had to go back and look at that cover. I'm so busy reading I never pay attention to the background, just the foreground. Thanks Gena.

Re: The Rogue Hunter

Wow I can't believe I missed that too. AV's cover is one my faves too.

Re: The Rogue Hunter

I know i was laughing at myself for 10 minutes, because i never noticed her, just him!!
