Re: just for the funny silly things

C1...I've just got to have one of those money trees...growing in my living room, please!

W2ofAE4...well, I can wish anyway...

Re: just for the funny silly things

You know my dad used to tell me that money didn't grow on trees. I was quick to point out to him the following:

1 He worked for a paper company as a paper maker;
2 Paper comes from Tree pulp;
3 Money therefore does grow on trees.

You can make your own currency from these trees, now mind you it may not be legal tender, but hey the point is money does grow on trees or from trees.

Can you tell my dad had problems with trying to argue with me as a child and teenager.

Re: just for the funny silly things

I thought money had cotton and fibers in it? at least the US Dollar? If it was just paper every time I did laundry my money would probably fall apart haha

Let me see....
Aw Here: from http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061024015036AAIuIPi

The design of paper currency, as well as the material used in its production, is determined by the Secretary of the Treasury.

Currency paper is composed of 25% linen and 75% cotton. Red and blue synthetic fibers of various lengths are distributed evenly throughout the paper. Prior to World War I the fibers were made of silk.

Re: just for the funny silly things

G3, I soooooo understand!

SmileyCentral.com It took awhile before my sons learned that a credit card still has to be paid, or a debit card is still like taking money from the bank...and if there isn't any in your account, you can't take any out.

Even at their ages, they forget when they see something they really want to buy!! Since your kids are younger, it'll be awhile...they have to get past concrete thinking. Money and where it comes from and how to keep a budget is an abstract idea!

It's bad but I didn't learn how to manage money or a {shudder} budget until I got married...I'm hoping we can help our sons learn that a bit sooner.

Btw, I'm guilty of forgetting there is a budget if I go in a bookstore! Best not to have credit/debit cards on hand...but just enough cash for what I went to get or I come out with a stack ofSmileyCentral.comA bookstore is where I get in the most trouble! My halo is always on straight and glows bright and I hear chimes and a choir the minute I walk in...but I come out with lots of books and halo fallen down! Heehee...my dh and daddy are the same in a Home Depot or Lowe's store...all those building supplies and power tools.

Re: just for the funny silly things

Lol if you have the "BLack Death" Here are some cures for you:

Vinegar and water treatment:
If a person gets the disease, they must be put to bed. They should be washed with vinegar and rose water

Lancing the buboes:
The swellings associated with the Black Death should be cut open to allow the disease to leave the body. A mixture of tree resin, roots of white lilies and dried human excrement should be applied to the places where the body has been cut open.

Bleeding:
The disease must be in the blood. The veins leading to the heart should be cut open. This will allow the disease to leave the body. An ointment made of clay and violets should be applied to the place where the cuts have been made.

Diet:
We should not eat food that goes off easily and smells badly such as meat, cheese and fish. Instead we should eat bread, fruit and vegetables

Sanitation:
The streets should be cleaned of all human and animal waste. It should be taken by a cart to a field outside of the village and burnt. All bodies should be buried in deep pits outside of the village and their clothes should also be burnt.

Pestilence medicine:
Roast the shells of newly laid eggs. Ground the roasted shells into a powder. Chop up the leaves and petals of marigold flowers. Put the egg shells and marigolds into a pot of good ale. Add treacle and warm over a fire. The patient should drink this mixture every morning and night.

Witchcraft:
Place a live hen next to the swelling to draw out the pestilence from the body. To aid recovery you should drink a glass of your own urine twice a day.

I hope you feel better in the morning. Lmao. Medieval medicine HOW GREAT
