Mr. Spice's Blog

Dave I was on your blog site this morning, and I heard a group singing. They sounded pretty good. Who were they?

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Jill, the band is called "this mortal coil" and Dave has the song in his public files so you can download it. He always had good music to accompany his blogs, in my ever so humble opinion!

Okay, even if I'm not humble, I know it's good music!

WHERE HAVE I BEEN!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Gena,

Go to Lynsay's blog...then there is spice-the-cat under her bloggie list...click on it and it will take you right to Mr. Spice's blog. It's very good.
If you want to make comments, you may have to register with live.com, because you have to be able to sign in. But there are several of us that have one now. You can get to mine from Dave's or Lynsay's, also. I keep a myspace page, but I only write or post pictures at my live.com page.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

thanks! wren!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Thank you Wren. I appreciate it. Do you know anything about this group?

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Jill, This Mortal Coil were more of an occasional co-operative than a full time band. They were loosely organised from artists on the UK based 4AD record label.

The particular song on the blog - a cover of Tim Buckley's Song To The Siren - comes from the album It'll End In Tears - and it pretty representative of the atmospheric covers thay recorded over their three album lifespan.

The band consisted of various combinations of members of bands such as The Cocteau Twins, Wolfgang Press and Dead Can Dance alongside of guest members doing the occasional cameo performance.

Song To The Siren features the unmistakable vocals of Elisabeth Fraser of The Cocteau Twins and is probably the most well known piece recorded by This Mortal Coil, having been used as the soundtrack to a number of TV ads in the UK and also in a couple of movies, including David Lynch's Lost Highway.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

I thought I had heard that song before. Maybe that is why. Thanks Lynsay!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

That was actually me, Gill - We're doing the Gypsy/Wren personality swap thing.

Dave

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

You know its funny but I had thought maybe it was you Dave just because of the wording in the post. You and Lynsay have different styles of talking.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Yes they do. Wouldn't it be interesting to be reading one of Lynsay's books and all of a sudden the style changes??? Great post Mr. Spice. Thank you.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

That would be funny.

I project different voices in my head to the people who post on the forum. And when I read his/her post it just sounded different from some of the other post Lynsay had done.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

I would be intresting to take one of Lynsay's books..and even though she writes it, have Dave speak for the lead male!...It could get intresting!! (just rambling out loud on a topic)

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Hmmm...makes it more "difficult" to get away with the gypsy/wren personality swap. Which I just did on another thread...but at least I had signed correctly even if I wasn't signed in correctly.

Do the two of us sound alike on the forum

People get us mixed up on the telephone all the time...but that is different...well, depending on who it is that starts talking to us before they have identified who they are speaking toSmileyCentral.com

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

There are certain aspects to your humor that is similar to Gypsy's but all in all you guys do sound different when I read your post.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

sometimes i can't evn tell, until one or the other replys with the mistake!!!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Oh my...and you're my AE4 sisters!!

gypsy-pixie must be using some of her "pixie dust" on you. Yep, that's gotta be it!

hmmm...so far our "personality swaps" as Mr. Spice calls them, have been accidental...at least I thought they were!

wren...who is W2ofAE4...and this is me...it really is!

You know I was always told that everytime you learn something new you get a new wrinkle in your brain. Why do think I ask so many questions? I was working with a very smooth brain.

Here you go, sweet sister Jill!

SmileyCentral.com A nicely wrinkled brain just for you...to help you along in your pursuit of extra wrinkles...of your brain only, of course!

wren...always willing to help an AE4 sister!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

C1,

What are you guessing about You are the only one who has talked to me and Gypsy on the phone so far! You know how I sound now...and a little of how she sounds.

Besides, Gypsy never signs as an AE4 sister...she just laughs hysterically at our bantering!

Our humour is similar, but not exactly the same. You should hear us when my entire family is all together!
Except then it is hard to hear anything!

She is still holding back a bit! Mostly because she hasn't been able to read the books yet, so she isn't a full "turn." The only book she has read is TD&H...and she puts a claim on Bastien because her irl name is Terri. The problem is Sherri says Bastien was hers first...and she is a full "turn." I had introduced her to the books a long time ago, when we had a sister day and Terri ended up having to work and could not go with us! But we will see about her new glasses when she gets home, and then she can have a marathon read!SmileyCentral.comSmileyCentral.com

Oh, and I learned as a little girl...even if you are the older sister and the boss...you never step in the middle of twins who are, shall we say, having a "heated discussion." If you do, they both turn on you...and that ain't a good kind of turn, SmileyCentral.com

We will have to watch her with Stauri though...they and their pixie-dust may make them "trouble-prone." In fact, I have a strong premonition going on about that. Not sure about our other Tink...Vicky, yet. I know for sure about Stauri and the gypsy-pixie! The vision is clear concerning those two girls!

Pixies/Fairies SmileyCentral.comhave a reputation for being mischievous! Especially those related to Tink!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

w2..I have talked to Gena and Jill also.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Wren..i have finaly pin pointed GYPSAY...
she is our resident PUCK (if you will) a mischevious sprite/fairy thats enjoys what going on around. She sits quietly and waits to speak up from hiding and gets everyone going again!!...

If I haven't said before.....HI GYPSAY!!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

See, I told you that gypsy-pixie is a

G3, you are catching on to her now, and the difference in our humour! She may seem quiet...but then the mischief comes bubbling out of her...and there is nothing she adores more than flowers and fairies!

Btw, she truly is a wonderful floral designer...the girl has talent! I'm not being biased just because she is my irl sister...I would love to have that kind of talent. She also has a knack for interior design on a dime.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

thats the fairySmileyCentral.com in her...don't pixies tend the forest, and fairies tend the gardens...oram I getting them turned round!!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

I thought of you guys this past weekend. I was in Walmart and of course I wondered over to the book aisle. And they had some book marks which I am always in the market for. And saw one for Tinkerbell and I immediately knew how much you guys would love it. It was a really nice one too with tassel on the end.

You probably seen it before though

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Pixies are fairies...and yes, there are garden fairies, water fairies, light fairies, and animal fairies...just to name a few. There are many kinds with different talents.

They also take care of or repair things in your house...but if you leave them gifts, they will get offended and go away...kind of like elves.

wren

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

I'm lost. Wren, what did I do now? Not that I would lay claim to it. lol

By the way, at my house I'm known as the fairie of dead plants. I do not have a green thumb. I could kill an air fern. I let my yard man take care of the plants, and it's a good thing I have an automatic sprinkler system, because my HOA would have a field day on me.

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

stauri...i am the same way, my family always asks why I don't plant any flowers or anything....(we have an acre and a 1/4) I tell them, if it dosn't grow there on is own....i will most likely kill it!!....i cut the grass and snip the bushes and limbswhen i have to, but thats it!!

WREN...I don't remember leaving any gifts, but i guess my house fairies think I am a lost cause and left!!

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Well, Stauri, you may not be a garden fairy/pixie, but we know you are a Tinkerbell...so we know you have pixie power! Plus, I believe you have some wizard-wand powers mixed in, if I remember an old post correctly

Tinkerbell is actually a Tinker of pots and pans...that's where her name comes from.

So, it seems your talent does not lie with the flowers, gardens, forest...that's okay, that is where Gypsy is most comfortable and talented...although she is an awfully good house-pixie also, and makes really good coffee. But there are all kinds of fairies...light fairies...maybe you are one of those, or water fairies, or animal fairies, and I'm sure there are lots of others. So I guess we will have to find out what your particular pixie-powers are...say that three times fast and go from there.

For some of the talents, to to http://disney.go.com/fairies

Have fun creating a fairy. It is kind of like electronic paper dolls

wren

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Cool Wren, thanks. I would say I'm a combination of house, animal, and forest fairie.

Although I hate to clean house (but who does)I can cook like there's no tomorrow. That's why you guys don't see me post on the weekends. I try to cook all my meals for the week during the weekend, so that I can come home and do chores, go to the gym, and read in the evenings during the week.

I have 3 lovely canine babies that keep me busy as well. I used to have horses but donated them to a mental health facility when I moved to the big facility.

The forest part is because I absolutely love the outdoors, camping, hiking, caverns, etc.

Yes, I like to think I have magical powers, which adds to my fairie blend, and I do have Tinks temperament when provoked. lol

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

I'm a moron - I meant big city not big facility, I was thinking of the mental health facility (which is obviously where I need to be at this point)

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Stauri,

Oh yeah, you & Gypsy are going to compliment each other very well! She also cooks very well, does housework (I miss the house pixie this week), and she is a garden fairy...loves flowers and gardens...and loves lots of magic. She also is part animal fairy, as she loves dogs just like you do...but has to just live with my Susiekat for now...but she likes her too, and she is part water fairy...would rather go to the beach for vacation than anywhere else!

Actually, the good part is Susiekat likes Gypsy...she is a very finicky feline when it comes to people...or any creature she deems is on her territory. Also, like you, Terri has been collecting "Tinkerbell" stuff for years, long before it was "fashionable" to be a Tink fan! No tattoos, though I think she would like one.

wren

Re: Mr. Spice's Blog

Well I'll have to send her a copy of my tattoo once it's done. Right now she has no wings, as her original ones are just not right for some reason.

Working on a tat for Lynsay's Argeneau's as well.
