Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Well, if you don't own a copy of Single White Vampire by now you may have to hope they reprint it soon! Amazon is out of stock, (This is the message posted: Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available) and so is Barnes and Noble! Good job Lynsay! Tall, Dark, and Hungry says that it ships in 3-5 weeks (on Amazon) which means they are about to run out of stock on this book as well!

I went to Dorchester's website and they say that they are out of stock as well. So I clicked on their Customer Service link and sent them an e-mail requesting that they reprint their books in the series. It would be in their best interest because every time that Lynsay releases another book in the series the demand will increase and they will make money.

I hope they do reprint them soon because I would like to purchase some for my sister for a birthday present and some of the prices on E-bay are just too high!

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

A quick Bite and Single White Vampire are hard to find and have been,

FYI.....LOVE BITES! was the one I couldn't find anywhere. When I did,(EBAY< BARNS AND NOBLE USED BOOKS) people were asking for 2x the cost to buy it. I had to replace it and I tried for a month to find it finally i had a book store order it, but it took 3 weeks to get it in!

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

I have to agree, I have been searching for Tall, Dark and Hungry and I just cant find it anywhere, i went to Barnes and Noble, I went to Boarders, I tried Amazone but I just cant find it and I need it to be able to finish the series, I asked the people to order it for me, they will call me when they get here but it could be up to two weeks and I am dying to get my hands on this book, well, I guess I have to wait

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

As of this moment TD&H is available on ebay for 5d 23m.
They also have others available.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Right now my book store Borders has all but Single white vamp.

If they are outta stock they will ship it for you ( at no charge) if they carry it. just pay for it at the stores Customer service desk. I have done it, no charge for shipping is sweeet. Check with your Borders.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

have any of you tried books a million?

NO! I don't want Dorchester to reprint it. If I'm understanding the pub world correctly, if these go out of print for a certain amount of time the rights revert back to the author who can then offer them to other pub houses. I'd love for Avon to get the rights to these and put them out with similar covers to the ones they are currently publishing. But we've had this conversation on a different thread and agreed that Dorchester will probably never let that happen. They'll keep re-issuing. I just wish they'd re-issue the books with the same foil embossing instead of giving us the cheapo-deapo non-embossed covers. That just doesn't seem fair to me to order a new copy, pay the same price or more as the original print, and get a really cheap cover treatment. I had to resort to Ebay to get the original print.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

i have purchased all but swv and have been frantically trying to find it but at least now i know i am not alone in my quest lol

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Denise,

How long would the book have to be out of print before the books revert back to the author? Perhaps Mr. Spice might drop in and let us know the answer to this question.

I guess it's kind of a gamble for Dorchester because right now vampires and other paranormal romances are HOT but how long will the market stay that way? They could negotiate with Avon and get a good deal now or they could reprint and hope that Lynsay continues to gain new fans. Her loyal fan base will have probably purchased the first books in the series already so their profit will be made by new readers discovering what we already know, that Lynsay's Argeneau books are awesome!

I ordered a copy of SWV through Alibris but the seller that I bought mine from is already out of stock and the price offered by other sellers was ridiculous! I don't need a copy right away (my sister's birthday is in the fall) so I guess I'll just wait and see what happens in the next few months.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

The only thing I can add at present is that the dire state of the current availability of some of the books is being looked into. As soon as there is any news it will be posted on the forum.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Well TD&H and SWV I have been waiting on for a month now, hopefully they'll be in this weeks shipment.. I went to 3 different bookstores and all they had were copies of A Bite to Remember, one of them had A Quite Bite also but none of them had any of the other Argeneaus..

Pleased that I got A Bite to Remember though.. canceled the book order.. (and what do you know about 40 minutes after purchasing the book.. the bookstore's delayed shipment came in Its going to for sure have A Bite to Remember in it.. )

Borders had the most of Lynsay's books (two of the Historicals) and Dymocks which I don't belive you guys have in the US had two of them.

Well i'll be getting Kelley Armstrong's new book tommorow as well

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

I just received an e-mail back from Dorchester. I'll copy and paste it below.

Good news…Single White Vampire is scheduled to be reprinted within the next couple of months. Keep watching our website for availability or for your convenience you can call our customer service number and ask to place a pre-order. Just provide a credit card number and we will send out the book(s) as soon as stock becomes available.

Did they bother to call and let you guys know Mr. Spice? A bit rude to tell a random customer before informing the author. Oh, well. At least now we know that it will be reprinted soon.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Don't hold your breath while waiting, Kim.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Well my bookstore informed me today that I got my dates confused, I only order those two only two weeks ago. Soo.. hopefully it will be in next week... I so do not want to wait MONTHS

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

I'm guessing that the pub'r may not have to notify the author except to send a royalty check. It probably depends on the contract. Same probably goes for how long the book has to be out of print. But you know Dorchester isn't going to let it happen.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Barnes and Noble has most of the series for purchase online.. that's where I ordered SWV. If not.... EBAY! I buy a lot of books on Ebay.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

I ordered "Single white vampire" and "Love bites" on Chapters and just received them last week ! WOO HOO Finally they're in stock after a long time being temporarily-unavailable-to-order.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

angel..i sell on EBAY..so i will give you a word of warning....watch the shipping, some juack it up too high!!

just a friendly FYI!!

Re: Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Thanks Gena, I do watch the shipping for that very reason! I know what it should cost to ship a book or two and won't order if it's over by much.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

I just had a guy charge me $14.99 to ship Standard Shipping, which I assumed meant Parcel Post. WRONG! I got the package and he shipped it with an under $3 MEDIA MAIL. I was ticked off big time, especially since I had asked if he would ship Media Mail and his reply was "Standard shipping is non-negotiable", leading me to assume that it wasn't Media Mail.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

I had a hard time finding alllll the historicals because I was an ass an waited forever but I went on Barns and Noble and the ones i couldn't buy brand new from them I went to the "other sellers" and the copy of Bliss I got from a used book store has never been read or anything so I was like EH LOOKIE HERRRA!!!! So if you can't get it from the seller try the used and click on New or LIke New usually they are ;)

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

You get those people sometimes ... is why I started watching the shipping so closely, got burned the same way! And yes, Barnes and Noble has a 'used' section you can click on also if they don't have a particular book you want. Most times they are almost as good as new. Heck, I don't mind the condition though, as long as it's not falling apart I'm good!

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Today I saw a copy of Love Bites and Tall, Dark and Hungry at Barnes and Noble

C1 of the AE4 just sharing info.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

C1....something interesting is happening!

I was at my Barns and Noble, and out of the blues I saw 3 copies of each...LB, VAF, AQB, and ABTR
Plus about 4 of the historicals..
PL, TC, TRR, and WSW

I haven't seen that many of her books in that store at one time since it opened 2 years ago!!

G3 just putting her observations into words!

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Gena that's like CHRISTMAS!
I recently had a Julie Garwood Christmas at Hastings :)

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Denise,

I hope you gave him very negative feedback. I definitely would!

Kim

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Gah! Well, A Quick Bite was at the Book Rack when I went today, I didn't realize it is so hard to find.
Why didn't I just get that one too....
Oh, well, cuz' I just bought 5 books,

I wish they had LB, or SWV...yeah, wouldn't I just be lucky!

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

Denise

forget the negative feedback...he can rebuke it with his own words and put a bandaid on it...

I would report him to the disputing center...
its understood that the sellers charge a little more for cost of supplies as well as Shipping/ handeling but that is wrong and they need to know what he is doing to put a stop to it.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

At least 2 local bookstores have the first 3 in stock. This is great.

Re: Early books in the series becoming hard to find!

I didn't do negative feedback because I knew he would turn around and give me negative, though I did nothing wrong. I just left neutral with a big WARNING: This $14.99 Standard shipping is actually $3.00 Media Mail. I did report it as excessive shipping and handling but I don't think they care. I did learn to ask up front what the seller considers Standard Shipping.
