Has anyone seen...

The Tudors on Show Time? I was just wondering, I visit the Bertrice Small board sometimes and wow they love to rip into it because the writers don't have the show like a word for word history book. But I love it! :) I have to wait forever for the next season because I don't have Show Time so I just buy the series and watch it all (pretty much in one night ahh Johnathan Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill, perfection!).

Re: Has anyone seen...

I have watched some of it. I love Jonathon Meyers (Loved him Bend it Like Beckham). I stopped because show didn't really stick the whole historical idea. I lot of it was just Henry jumping in and out bed with Anne Boleyn. Kinda bored me after awhile.

Re: Has anyone seen...

How do you pronounce Rhys? Just uncertain...

Re: Has anyone seen...

Wren,

Rhys is generally pronounce the same as Reese, although in the original Welsh, as in all the Celtic languages, the letter 'h' acts as an aspirant so a more acurate way of saying it would be to breath out quite forcefully while pronouncing the 'R'

Dave.

Re: Has anyone seen...

Thanks, Mr. Spice.

Re: Has anyone seen...

Oops...that was me, wren, thanking you Mr. Spice. I need to make sure I look and see who is logged in before I reply!

Anyway, thanks for explaining how to pronounce Rhys. I've seen it in several of the historical novels, but never been quite sure how to say it.

Re: Has anyone seen...

I didn't know Dave. Thanks for that info

Re: Has anyone seen...

While we're on the subject of pronunciation I thought it worth mentioning that I've been trying to convince mrs spice of the value of creating a podcast. We could perhaps do in the format of an interview or having her read from one of the books while also getting her to discuss the book and, at the same time, to clarify how some of the character names are pronounced.

I haven't decided where we would actually host it, but the most likely place could be through a media player on Lynsay's MySpace or on her website.

Re: Has anyone seen...

Have you watched the Tudors Mr. Spice? What did you think

(I know the history is dreadful even Anne Boelyn's eyes the wrong color but jeez, I love the Tudor dynasty and other historical periods and a show about it is fun and it is Show Time so it is definately going to be sexual...)

Re: Has anyone seen...

I think I would like that idea Mr. Spice. It would be nice to hear how the author would read it.

Re: Has anyone seen...

I haven't seen The Tudors at all, Kelli. I don't tend to watch very much TV at all. With me it's a case of if I'm not on the computer then I'll have my head stuck in a book.

Re: Has anyone seen...

Me too!!!!!!!!! i read so fast my authors I love dearly dont have time to catch up with new material :).
i love my computer a lot too but it is a laptop and at the moment driving me to madness. Something always has to be wrong with it.

Re: Has anyone seen...

Laptops are evil I tell you!! EVIL! You can see that mine broke.. its a piece of garbage, the parts that broke were better then this computers but this thing is about 6 years old while my laptop was barely two years and it died!

Re: Has anyone seen...

I love the idea of the podcast or hearing Lynsay read the books! Not only for her Argeneau series, but also for her historicals. She has fans for all the types of books and novellas and short stories she writes.

There is much that you could do with it...just like some of the newsletters are holiday themed or tied to a specific story, that could be the "theme" of that month's or quarter's podcast (wasn't sure if monthly would be too much to start off with.) Also, the SASSy ARGENEAUTS feel like we know the Spice Team, so it would be nice to hear each of you interact with Lynsay!

I would prefer it on the website, but a link or something could be put from Lynsay's blog and MySpace pages...

Re: Has anyone seen...

It would be nice to see some novella's or short stories from our favourite Argeneaus Kelley Armstrong has several short stories on her characters that serve as a backstory, it would be awesome I would think if you had the same sort of thing with them

I think we'd all agree that we'd love to see something to do with Marguerite having to deal with Jean-Claude controlling her.. I'd love that.

Or we could have what actually happened with Lissiana's first feeding

And how about what really happened with who Bastien thought was going to be his true lifemate? Theres lots that can be explained in novellas or short stories

Re: Has anyone seen...

I think I would like to see novellas or short stories that are holiday related, where all of the family is together for Christmas...or something like that. Something special that just comes out for the holiday season...

I find that Lynsay slips in a lot of the little details of the past throughout the series...then gives us a whopping relevation through a book like VI.

Re: Has anyone seen...

itis a really cool idea!!SmileyCentral.comi would love to hear some short stories or like wren said....it would be really hard to count on monthly but for holidays or even special events comming up! THAT WOULD BE SO COO!

Ah well, a girl can dream....

Re: Has anyone seen...

Re: Has anyone seen...

Kelli, it appears your thread was highjacked!

Re: Has anyone seen...

Ummm...sorry about that Kelli...I haven't seen The Tudors, but would probably like it as I read a lot of books from that time period. I also only watch a limited amount of television.

Also, seems a comment in one post led to comment in another post and so on...didn't mean to hijack your thread ...

Remember, there are no simple, innocent questions...I think we learned that last time you began a thread...and it went off on various trails...

wren...SmileyCentral.com...flying to my corner until I can stay on topic or at least try really hard to do so!

Re: Has anyone seen...

I don't mind :) you guys make me laugh and that's a wonderful thing even if you sometimes confuse Mr. Spice :)

Re: Has anyone seen...

Oh, sorry Kelli. We should have warned you. Don't ever expect to start a thread and keep it on topic in this forum. That's the best part about it.

Re: Has anyone seen...
