Tonight we'll be finding out who has made it into the top ten. We'll be telling you which of our contestants gets to receive one of the fantastic promotional posters that were part of the press kit for The Accidental Vampire, Vampires Are Forever and Vampire, Interrupted.

The lines are closed, the votes are in, and the judges, Spicy Scowl and Randy House Elf have made their decisions. Your top ten tonight, on Argeneau Idol are;

Katie Roy,
Stef Strosky,
Patti Meador,
Kylie Xerri,
Elizabeth Hightower,
Lisa K. Mason,
Lora Alexander,
April Padgett,
Michelle Ferrel,
Tami Bates.

You'll be able to see their entries in the next newsletter and just before we end I'd like to extend a big thank-you to all who entered - all ten of you. Thank-you. Your prizes are being mailed today and will be with you soon.

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Congrats everyone... can't wait to see the final!

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Just a quick question, is the newsletter mailed to us or is in when we come to the site? I feel a tad silly.

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Not safe..? I dont understand that piece of logic, your sending the picture to a competition set up by a best selling author.. how is that not safe?

Parents and there screwed logic.. (there needs to be a ****** off emote face)

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Congratulations to all of you!

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Kelli, you need to sign up for the newsletter...there is a place on Lynsay's website...then it will be emailed to you!

Acal, PuppyLover's dad was probably thinking of her having to be in the picture...which was part of the original rules. As a parent, it is better to err on the side of caution, so he made a good decision. Later the rules were modified where anyone or anything could be in the picture with the featured books. Even though Puppy was disappointed, it is better that she is safe. Some sites are not so well moderated as Lynsay's. Also, some bestselling authors do not allow readers under the age of 18yo on their forums.

As a mom of a 12yos and 14yos, and having a 12yo niece...well, I'm very careful about those things too. They are underage, and it's our duty to watch out for them. I'm sure the Spice Acres team wants parents watching out for their younger readers. It is not the Spices job to do so, as there are way too many readers of all ages to keep track...This duty belongs to parents/guardians, and they would be the ones wrong to shirk it.

Now, 18yo and out of high school is a different matter. And, although Kewie is 19yo, Gypsy still wants her to be very careful.

PL's parents are much more lenient than I am about allowing her to come on this forum (no offense, Pup ) and although my 12yo niece is reading the Argeneau books now, neither me nor Gypsy think she needs to be on the forum until she is older, because we adults tend to banter in an adult way...

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Yes.. the adult way..

I have a friend whos only 14 and shes very very mature for her age, just talking on a messenger and not knowing what she looks like you'd assume shes 20+ shes a sculptor and is betaing stories for fiction sites for her resume, she wants to be an editor and has written a novel and is looking to get it published when of course its legal for the stuff shes written (which sadly for her is like 4 years, because of the content no publisher will pick it up until shes legal)

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Acal,

That is why it is so important for an adult to be moderating what their children are watching/reading/doing on the computer. A 14yo may sound like a 20yo, and someone of legal age think they are talking to another person of legal age. Also, there are many predators that use the internet to hunt for young kids, and many kids who represent themselves as older so that they can get on sites that have an age restriction.

Several of us on here watch out for PuppyLover (well, PL, you are our youngest member...and we would not want anyone to hurt you.)It is her parent's choice where she is allowed to go, but we are not going to let her be in an unsafe environment...and the Spices keep things under control on this forum.

wren...it's fun to play, but once you hit 18yo and are out of secondary school, being a responsible adult is the most important thing to do.

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

Acal,

This forum isn't an appropriate place to host someone's personal critique on parenting skills so I'd suggest that we draw this discussion to a close and get back on topic.

Re: Competition For Promotional Poster.

I will also get back on topic, Mr. Spice! Good reminder...

Kelli,

If your newsletter doesn't come, check where junk mail/spam goes to make sure it isn't diverted...Cindy or Mr. Spice can tell you how. It was really nice how you listed the winners names!
