How was your day??

How is everyone doing tonight?? I my self had an extremely long day and have to be to work early tomorrow... good thing is... I get off 5 and a half hours early tomorrow because of it... so...

Any one have any big plans for the weekend other than reading the next great Lynsay novel... I myself plan on going to the car show in cincinatti... but only to catch a glimps and photograph Drake Hogestyn from Days of our Lives fame... that should be a hoot... LOL...

Re: How was your day??

I had a good day, my hubby came home today for 2 weeks but that also means that I go back to work tomorrow

Jodi

Re: How was your day??

Oooooh...migraine...happens when the weather changes significantly (I think it is supposed to be warm & rainy tomorrow) or when there are a lot of allergens in the air. It is mostly gone now because I had to break down and take that prescription tablet, that the insurance will only cover nine tablets per month and that is with the highest copay...but at least we have health insurance, then I slept so much this afternoon that now I'm awake tonight. Headaches like this always mess up my sleep patterns, and it takes a day or two to straighten myself out. So, I'm tired but not sleepy.

Tomorrow I get to go try on my first pair of "real" glasses...not just the reading kind.
The others kept giving me a headache, and GypsyCharm said I couldn't see anymore and simply made me an appointment with the eye doctor. I think it was payback for all the appointments I've been making for her. So dh took me a couple of weeks ago, and now the glasses are in so I guess I should go get them and see how they help...well, it should make it a whole lot easier to read Lynsay's books!

I'm also going to the Post Office, Jodi, and see where my parcel is because they haven't delivered it! So, hopefully, I'll be letting you know tomorrow that I have it...or somebody at the post office is going to be dealing with an unhappy woman! I guess they have been waiting for me to come get it, even though they told me the mail lady would deliver it on Monday.
Well, Monday has come and gone...and no parcel If she saw the notice on our door asking not to call or ring the doorbell until after 1:00 P.M., she should have realized it was addressed to the neighborhood friends who are on Spring Break this week. We were trying to have half-days of school and then lunch, so the kids could still see their friends while they are out of school...but it never goes as well as I hope.
I'm not heartless...it's just that their cousins are coming up next month for a week on their Spring Break...and April seems so much better for having a week off in the southern US...so

My computer is doing weird things, and some of the keys aren't working correctly...If any of the kiddos messed up something on my computer...they are getting banned for life! Mom is in a grumpy mood!

wren...achy, pouty,SmileyCentral.com moody, grumpy, but hopefully nicer tomorrowSmileyCentral.com

Re: How was your day??

My day yesterday was really hectic. I worked until 6:00 then ran home grabbed up my laundry and had to rush the laundramat before it closed.

By the time I was done, I was exhausted, had not eaten (you don't wanna mess me when I am hungry) and I still had to clean. I think I collapsed at about a 11:00p.m. Not really sure everything turned into a blur.

W2 welcome the wonderful world wearing glasses every day. I am so used them now that sometimes I forget they are on and go to sleep with them. Bad idea, trust me.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

At least you get to relax a little after.....SmileyCentral.com

W2- hope the glasses help,SmileyCentral.com I get bad migrains to the point I am in bed and don't move, sometimes for an entire day for a bad one.(haven't had one of those in along time though, thank goodness!) Had my eyes tested, thinking it was the same problem, but they are fine, docs still don't know what causes them.

Re: How was your day??

Wren, I totally sympathize (this word always looks like it's spelled wrong!). I get migraines too. When I was younger, my parents and I always assumed it was from reading hours at a time. When I was older and in the Army, they thought I was dehydrated (did you know the symptoms are very similar?)and given an IV more than once. I was actually hospitalized the one time because I couldn't stop throwing up. I kept insisting that I had been drinking plenty of fluids but... *shrug*

Well, it took me years to figure it out but they are actually hormone related. I get them right around my time of the month. It wasn't until I became pregnant and realized that I had stopped having migraines that it occured to me. I read up on them and realized it is pretty common.

I did find an over the counter medicine that works for me (Excedrin Migraine) if I take it when I first notice a headache coming on. (the back of my neck gets sore to the touch and I find myself rubbing it and rotating my shoulders). When I think of all the years that I suffered and never realized the connection... I feel very foolish. You would think it would have occured to me that I usually only had one or two a month and when they occured.

Oh, and what did I do yesterday? I vaccumed and swept the entire first floor of my house. The sun actually came out and I could finally see how dirty and dusty everything was! We have had weather in the 40's for the last few days and after the weather we've been having this feels like a heat wave!

And I also finished Lynsay's The Loving Daylights which I was fortunate to find at my library's used book sale. Great book. I especially liked how most if not all of the character's names were puns. Abel Andretti (Able and Ready), Dirk Ensecksi (Dark and Sexy), etc. It looks like this one was part of a series but each one written by different authors. This was the only one written by Lynsay though.

Today, I'm going to swing by Shop-Ko and pick up a copy of Bliss. I saw it and The Switch over in the bargain area. I believe it was 2 for $5.95 or something like that. I couldn't remember if I had it or not so I had to come home and check first. I have The Switch already but I might buy it for my sister.

She was never the reader like I was growing up but the last time I spoke to her we realized that she has started reading a lot and it's all in the genre that I started reading a year or so ago. Historical romance! Plus she has been reading a lot of the darker paranormals. I've been pushing Lynsay at her to try but she can't find any of her books where she is. Her birthday isn't until October but I don't think she'd mind receiving one early, do you? I believe a complete set of Lynsay's books would do just nicely. Or maybe just the first 3 or so, I have to check and see how much money I've spent on books lately. Though my husband did just buy a Wii and some games for it so I believe he can't really say anything about my spending right now!

Sorry for rambling!

Kimberly

Re: How was your day??

Good Morning everyone!

I certainly sympothize (spelling is wrong I am sure) with those of you who get migraines. I wouldn't wish those on anyone.

As for the glasses, I wish I could wear mine, but when I put them on I look like a frog looking through a coke bottle, and the rooms become round instead of square. Yes, I'm legally blind, but the DMV doesn't know that. lol Went to get my drivers license here (with my glasses on) and the lady entering the information says to me "Do you wear eyeglasses or corrective lenses?" I looked her straight in the eye and said "No, these are just for Divination purposes, I can't see through my crystal ball unless I wear them. My real name is Professor Trelawney". She just shrugged and said, please remove them as they are not allowed in pictures on your drivers license. The guy standing behind me was choking trying not to laugh at the poor woman.

Anyway, day started out at 5:00 am this morning and will be here until 6 or 7 pm tonight , seeing as gas prices are still rising, and Oil prices have not shown the least bit of interest in declining, I had to come to work early for a drilling meeting to see if production is up at the company I work for. Not that it matters as far as gas prices or oil futures are concerned. Lovin the job right now, NOT!

I need a vacation destination, but have to renew my passport first. Going to Calgary next year, but haven't figured out anything for this year. Throw me some ideas guys.

Hope everyone has a great day, and for those of you on Spring Break with your kids, be safe.

Re: How was your day??

"I need a vacation destination, but have to renew my passport first. Going to Calgary next year, but haven't figured out anything for this year. Throw me some ideas guys."

Seeing how I just moved from the great southwest to northern Kentucky... I'd recommend New Mexico... there are lots of things to see there... especially if you are a Sci-fi buff at all... plus the landscape is phenomenal if you have never seen it... Northern NM is nice and pretty but I recommend the southern half, myself simply cause I like the region and I'm a Sci-fi buff... Southern NM has the Space Hall of Fame and White Sands in Alamagordo... and then you have Roswell for the Alien stuff and Carlsbad Caverns are a must see too... all are in easy day driving distance from a quaint little mountian top town called Cloudcroft which has some of the cutest cabins to stay in... and quite affordable... my favorit to stay in are the Spruce Cabins if I don't stay with relatives that also own a cabin there...

Re: How was your day??

Hey Froggie, my mother is from New Mexico -Silver City. She said she was actually to Roswell but didn't see any signs for Area 51

G3-"She turned me into a newt"

W2-Hope you are doing better and that the glasses help with the migraines.

Re: How was your day??

Well I don't know about the Area 51 stuff... but there are some actual scientific sites to see... But the Valley of the Fires are a great stop between gas ups...

I love to stop there during the day... but never at night... it's too scary... LOL...

Re: How was your day??

Ohh, I like Cavern tours, it helps relieve my claustrophobia. A couple of years ago I took a cavern tour near San Antonio in which they don't guide you, they give you a map, a blue jumper, hard hat with light and a flashlight and backpack with essentials, and drop you in the hole and let you explore on your own. It was great, and completely exhiliarating. Made me feel like I was making the Journey to the Center of the Earth (stupid movie, but I thought it was great). I would do it again in a heart beat.

My next feat is to repell of the side of a mountain, don't want to climb the mountain or jump from it. Just want to be dropped off with all the equipment needed to repell off the side.

Just a few things on my Bucket List. lol Not that it matters. Thanks Froggie for the pic and information, I love the outdoors, especially the forest stuff, and hiking. It comes from growing up in the Natural State.

Re: How was your day??

Stauri you are a very very very very (can not say very enough) brave person. Just standing on a ladder sometimes gives me vertigo.

I envy you

Re: How was your day??

Not Brave - just sticking to my true sagitarius self -by acting before I think. My brother refers to them as Blonde moments.

Both his wife and I suffer from it. Hers is a little more obvious at times than mine. Sitting in the park one afternoon swinging my nephew, she turns to my brother while drinking a half frozen bottle water, looked him dead in the face and said "How do they get the ice in these bottles?"

Same blonde moments just different contexts.

Re: How was your day??

Carlsbad isn't a guided tour either but you don't need all the gear for the the tour either... everything is paved throughout the caverns and you need to stay on the designated pathways... it's beautifull in there! I made this postcard for one of my friend's kids to use as prop in a report she had to do after coming out to NM on vacation... it was of all the place we went to and the things we saw while they were there...

Re: How was your day??

I smell a ROADTRIP!!!

Re: How was your day??

Well I am a Sagatarius too and if that is a character trait then that explains a lot things I have done in my life

Re: How was your day??

Roadtrips are fun but that would be a very long roadtrip for me. I live on the east coast

Re: How was your day??

Do what my friends did... they flew there then rented a car for the week... they came all the way from NY...

Re: How was your day??

i am also a sagitarious.....i have alwys wondered why i jump, and then think about it on the way down!

Re: How was your day??

My day has been fine so far, I'm going to massage therapy school( I just love giving massages) and had to come today to give a client a massage, I'm not done yet but in my school the last 3 months you have to give people massages, other than my class mates, is just so we can learn every different types of body, It's cool though, you will be surprised of how many things there are to just giving somebody a massage. Anyhow, now I have to go to work, not that I want to, I love my job but I would much rather go home right now, I didnt sleep well last night, I hate when I cant sleep and it happens to me all the time, does somebody else has that problem, I would love you forever if you could tell me what to do about it, other than drinking sleeping medicines, I dont drink medicines, they can become addictions and I just dont do addictions, and I just hate swallowing them, anyways, you guys have a great day

Re: How was your day??

Sleep? I have been wondering what that is. Sometimes when I want to relax I will have a cup of herbal tea. It works most of the time

Re: How was your day??

Usually if I can't sleep I will find the most boring movie or tv show (flip on the weather channel works everytime for me), put the sound low and allow the boriness lull me to sleep.

Re: How was your day??

What worked with my children is to put a fan on in the room. We did it when they were babies but now it's a habit. Face it away from you if it makes you too cold but the hum is what helps. Also, you might want to face it towards you after all and bundle up under covers. I can't sleep if I'm too warm but I also need to have something covering me to feel comfortable. Even if it's just a light sheet.

Also, check to see how dark your room really is. Some people react to even a small amount of light and it makes it hard for them to sleep. I myself, rarely am able to nap in the middle of the day. If it is light outside, then I am awake. I have to be really, really tired or sick in order for it to happen when the sun is out. My boys are the same way. In the summer they get up at 5 am most of the time and even though we put them to bed by at least 8, I know they don't really fall asleep until it starts getting dark out. (I hear them get out of bed and play with their toys!)

So check to make sure you have room darkening shades, put a rolled up blanket in front of the bottom of your door if there is a light source outside of it, turn the front of your digital clock away from the bed, etc. Anything that might be interferring with your body's natural rhythms.

And don't exercise too close to bedtime because the adrenaline rush keeps you going for a while. And I know if I shower at night, it wakes me up a bit too. Maybe a warm bath might be relaxing but not the spray of water beating down on me.

I wish you luck in getting some more sleep. There was just an article I read the other day (sorry, I forget where) about how the lack of sleep can have an adverse effect on people. Things like memory, appetite, health. Not to mention mood. I know I get cranky with lack of sleep. Just ask my kids after I've had to get up in the middle of the night to change a wet bed and give a kid a bath. The next morning I'm not the cheeriest person.

Kimberly

Re: How was your day??

Kim, that is kind of funny about having to have something covering you when you go to sleep. I have to have my favorite comforter when I go to sleep. It oculd be 100 degrees and I still will need it. Guess that's why it is called a comforter huh?

Re: How was your day??

I have purchased the Black Out Drapes. They work great.

Re: How was your day??

Oh that is good idea

Re: How was your day??

I love having the sun when I sleep. alot of people up here have the black out blinds but I love during the summer having almost non stop sun, it is to make up for all the dark we have during the winter. some people up here also use tinfoil on their windows, I remember when we first moved up here I didn't understand why so many people had their windows covered up with the tinfoil.

Jodi

Re: How was your day??

Very important...

Having a definite get up in the morning and go to bed time...and having a similar routine daily for each, even on week-ends or other days off. Also, if you don't sleep well at night, don't nap in the day or not for longer than a half-hour. Power naps are good, but getting into too much of the deep sleep will just refresh you...and then keep you awake at night.

Watch caffeine intake, or eliminate it. Herbal tea and a short bubble bath to wind down may be a good part of the bedtime routine. If I have caffeine even at noon, I will be awake at night. We didn't realize how sensitive I was to it until eliminating it from my diet for awhile. I don't have it at home...it's when I eat out that I'm tempted. Dh always knows because I either "talk" to him when he needs to sleep, or I'm up playing on the computer or reading.
If you do get up, it's best to do something boring instead...so that your brain isn't so active, and allows you to wind down.

wren

Re: How was your day??

Wren i can't always do that the kids all have a set bed time, but you don't know if its going to work!

Anyways, usually, I take a SmileyCentral.com(if i have one!)or a cup of camomille tea (spelling?) SmileyCentral.com and sit in theSmileyCentral.com with a book.
It usually works for me!

Re: How was your day??

Well, thank you guys, I will try everything, I too get moody when I dont sleep enough, I get migraines too, and I just hate migraines, they're evil, lol.

I have no lights on my room, I cant sleep with lights on either, I have a fan, I cant sleep when I'm too warm, I much rather be cold, its just better, and I dont have a digital clock, I hate them, they always scare the crap ot of me, I wake up to easily and I cant put the volume low enough so I just use my cell phone as an alarm.

Still I would do everything you guys suggested, thanks a lot, I cant thank you enough

Re: How was your day??

Gena,

I know what you mean. Even when they are older, activities and other stuff conflict so you still can't have a perfect daily routine. Just have to do the best we can! Just keeping the morning and nightly routine similar for everyone helps, because it signals to your brain that "night" is sleep time and "day" is awake time. Or, that is what my doc says...even with my medical treatment, haven't ever caught on to doing that.

But, GypsyCharm and Kewie are home, and my irl sister keeps an almost perfect daily routine. "Early to bed, Early to rise"...yeah, yeah....but the coffee is made when I get to the kitchen, and the conversation is great! Plus, she usually remembers to get something planned for dinner...I can cook...At one time, I did cook...quite often...now, between my other work and the um...um, being on the forum ...I just forget to plan...yeah, that's it. Oh, and Taco Bell and McD's are just down the road...but I mostly forget to plan dinner ahead of time.

No excuse now though. I can see the kitchen...and it has a stove in it...and it is operational...unlike the tv that was in the kitchen/small dining area that lightning popped...now no Charmed repeats on while I am trying to figure out what is for dinner because I forgot to plan...eeew, now I can see that I need to sweep. I prefer to use my broom to fly! SmileyCentral.com

My eyes were not as good as I thought. I discovered today that Gypsy's glasses frames are silver. I thought they were a bronze color...she has had these a year. She has lived with us since January. I thought she made me the eye appointment as payback...I thought I just couldn't see to read...scary to know I was out there driving, huh?

I think bedtime was two hours ago.

ttfn...wren

Re: How was your day??

I know the dinner thing! At least when hubby was here, I woul force myself to make something, (no planning for though....never remember to do it anyway!) but now, all I have to go on is the kids...I pick all day so am never that hungry......but when they get hungry thats all hear about until i make something!

sorry to hear the glasses aren't working out, maybe it just the perscription...lets hope! I know Hubby has a stigma in 1 eye and his other isn't that great at all....I look in hs glasses and get a headache, before I even get them on my face, but he dosn't bother wearing his half the time....he can't read a sign 10 feet in front of the car! (you want to compare scary!

G3

Re: How was your day??

Wren without my glasses I have hard time telling color from far away. If I try to drive I can't tell the color of traffic signal.

Much safer for everyone else if I wear them.

As far as cooking, that is why fast food restuarants and tv dinners were invented (and of course Mac N Cheese)

Re: How was your day??

SmileyCentral.com

Actually, I'm getting adapted to the glasses! Need a new hairstyle though...it's one thing to be a schoolmarm, but quite another to feel like you look like one all the time!

wren...remember, we are pink this week...however, I seem to have a hard time being good regardless! I know Wendy & Stauri & J4 before I corrupted you (although it wasn't very hard, kwim?) and whoever else has told me...you think I just LIKE to be bad! BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA my sweeties!

Re: How was your day??

Always fun to reinvent yourself with a new hairstyle.

Thinking that Wren is not as bad as she makes everyone thinks she is.

As for Jill's powers, maybe we should teach her a good body bind curse to catch her a man.

Stop with the Mac n Cheese, or I'm going to have to stock the whole pantry with it. Now I'm thinking a binge would not be so bad. Do you know how hard it is for an Italian to stay away from pasta?

Oh Jill, before I forget, I found the actual powdered cheese from the box in a shaker at the grocery store. It's for popcorn, etc. But I like to put the extra cheese on my mac n cheese.

Stauri - now thinking she should get an IV and puree the Mac n Cheese to feed intraveneously.

Re: How was your day??

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA my sweeties! don't you mean....my pretties!

Re: How was your day??

Stauri, you found the magical cheese powder from the "thing that will remain nameles". But we have to be careful about the binding spells I don't want to stuck to an "it" instead of a "him".

Re: How was your day??

binding spells can be dangerous! you mst be careful..unless of course we are talking about VICTOR! then you know!

Re: How was your day??

So I had a bit of a crazy morning. We had snow removal last night and when we got up this morning they had plowed all the snow in the middle of the road. hubby had to go out and chip away at the snow and ice at the end of the driveway so that I could get out because the driveway was now up higher than the road. then I go to leave and I forget to unplug the car and drive away dragging the cord, which I lost somewhere along the way to work. After work I rushed home to eat then spent about an hour trying to get hubby's truck started again (it was at a friends house to make room for my brother's truck) we ended up frying the jumper cables and had to run and buy new ones. finally got it started just in time to get the kids home and into bed. now it is time to relax.
