Bliss -Spoiler Alert

Lynsay,

I just finished reading the historical Bliss. Very very funny. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it and thank you for such a good story.

I especially loved the part when she decides she is going to "freshen" her breath for her groom to be.

I had one question though. I guessed Hethe had dyslexia, but I could not remember if you had written another book character with the same issue. Was this the case or I am totally off base.

Just curious.

Oooh, that was a great story! I have really enjoyed all of Lynsay's historicals.

Re: Bliss -Spoiler Alert

yes, Hethe was dyslexic, though they didn't have a name for it yet or recognize it as being something other than his being too stupid to learn to read and write properly. I have a friend with dyslexia who was given a hard time and struggled all the way through school before they realized that was the problem when she was something like 18.

Talk about give you a complex. She's an intelligent woman, bright and quick thinking, but was basically called stupid while growing up and put in slow classes and so on. Once they realized what it was it was a whole different ball game, they were able to work ways around it and put her back in school. But it's a shame so much time was wasted. I certainly hope they recognize dyslexia much more quickly now.

Oh . . .erm . . . I'll get off my soap box now. Sorry

Oh, got so into my rant I forgot to answer that no, dyslexia hasn't been in any of my other books. I don't think so anyway. Sheesh. My memory so sucks.

Soap box? I don't see any soap box..

Re: Bliss -Spoiler Alert

Yeah, my friend's son is going through that now unfortunately. He is 11 and has dyslexia like his father and absolutely hates learning now because of it. We live in a small town area so special school programs are almost nonexistent. And unfortunately his parents don't make enough money to pay for a specialist to help him.

I'm not sure what they are going to do now.
