Argeneau Warriors

This question has been bubbling away for me for quite sometime now. The immortals couldn't be out in the sun without needing a lot more blood. But yet the Argeneau males that were around in the ancient times were warriors.

How did they keep their secret? Lucian was a warrior in the armies of Rome how did he keep up feeding during the daylight hours where the legions moved and most of the time in the direct sunlight.

But even harder being a solider in the kingdoms of the middle-east would have been even harder the desert sun is the most damaging and theres no shade anywhere but in buildings, how was it possible for them to keep it up without being discovered?

Not to mention the injuries they would have obtained in combat.

Re: Argeneau Warriors

Hi Acal, you up too? LOL. But then you're in Australia aren't you? I will look at this question and the others tomorrow. Right now, I need to sleep.

Re: Argeneau Warriors

Oooh that is a good question. Not this is the answer but I think there would be several ways to hide. You would have to be subtle.
If they knew they would have a large battle next day, I am sure they gorge themselves the night before to be prepared.
After the battle as long as the victim weren't dead, the immortals could feed off them. You could wait until there were a few people around then scan the ground for wounded soldiers. Also it wasn't as if they followed Geneva convention laws in questioning prisoners. Those too could be a source of food for the warriors.

Also if they did alot marching in the day they could wear lots of body armor in the sunnier climes explaining they were warriors and that is what they did and in the colder climes lots of furs.

So what do you think, does that sound feasible. I am not saying that is what they did, because only our fearless leader knows the truth

Re: Argeneau Warriors

I'm pretty sure that roman soliders unless they were a commander had the bottom of their legs and their arms exposed. And a Persian/Egyptian solider had a lot more exposed. Even their commanders wore thin clothes

Re: Argeneau Warriors

I'm trying to remember which character was exposed to the sun for the longest amount of time and how it affected them. I can't remember. *shrug*

I imagine that they would just need a lot more blood and since feeding "off the hoof" was accepted and allowed back then, it would have been pretty easy to round up some "cattle". On the other hand, you are right about the risk of being wounded in battle being pretty high so someone might notice that if a soldier took a sword to the side and yet the next day was moving around pretty easily. I'm guessing they kept pretty busy changing and erasing memories. After a while that would get pretty time-consuming and the vampires would probably decide it was time to up stakes and move on.

Re: Argeneau Warriors

What the Romans didn't wear legwarmers? I always thought the rainbow ones were awesome.

J4-Used to own a pair and miss them a lot during the winter

Re: Argeneau Warriors

Well, they were Warriors Extraordinaire so they wouldn't have received too many wounds themselves, only inflicted many on others.

Re: Argeneau Warriors

Well whos to say they wouldn't have gotten hit with a stray arrow or spear?

Re: Argeneau Warriors

Yeesh! I meant to get back here, but the 6th was all business appointments and stuff and then yesterday we visited gran for the first time in ages (she's such a cutie. We took her to lunch and then harassed her for tea at her place for a couple hours. Grin) AND it was Tori the house elf's birthday too, so the rest of the day was a no work day as well (she also went to see gran with us.) I was forced to have horribly bad for you food and watch screamer flicks and a good (if odd) movie called The Darjeeling Limited with her. Dave stayed for Darjeeling and enjoyed it but fled during the horror flicks, lol.

Anyway, as to my warriors. . . I never said they were in the Roman Legion, guys. Or any other mortal army.

Lucian was still one of the oldest immortals and on the Council back then. He was still judging and occasionally chasing down rogues in Rome, Persia and wherever. That is still a warrior. Actually, the rogues back then were worse because-- crap I haven't told you that yet. I mean, it's in a book, but Mortimer's, I think, and then just barely mentioned, you might not notice until . . . Oh, pooh.

Um . . . well . . .basically, immortals didn't have to be in any army they didn't want to. They could use mind control to avoid it, or they could join in if they wished and then make special arrangements with gorging ahead as Jill suggested.

Also, you know darned right well they were never average foot soldiers. They are stronger, faster, and can take more punishment. They can also control minds, including that of their king or leader. They basically would be deciding where they were willing to serve and putting that suggestion into the head guy's head.

As for injuries, they wouldn't be injured very often at all. Some guy coming at you with a sword? Slip into his thoughts and turn his attack onto one of his comrades. Shrug. That wouldn't work with arrows, of course, or sneak attacks, but then they'd simply have to take some time off "to heal" and hang out at home for a bit.

That seems kind of . . . er. . . well, like cheating and not much fun at all, so I imagine, since they COULD control minds and be whatever they wanted, most often they probably chose to be generals in control of what happens, safe from the sun in a tent somewhere deciding strategy if they wished . . . or interrogating the captured using their mind reading and snacking if they wished. I mean, they HAD to eat and better to feed off the enemy, right?

Hmm, think I covered everything here. At least everything coverable until that issue I haven't mentioned can be mentioned, sigh
