The results are in and I'm delighted to announce that Vampire, Interrupted has entered the New York Times listings at number... SIX
Considering the very stiff competition with other books published this week a number 6 placing is a really great result. A big thank you is offered to everyone who bought the book and made this possible.
The top six authors in the NYT mass market list are
Karen Travis
Christine Feehan
Janet Evanovich
Mary Higgins Clark
Danielle Steel
LYNSAY SANDS
Now if only those book distributors can get all the books to the stores on time for the next title. I'm guessing that some people wasted time checking around locally before finally breaking down and ordering online. That would push some of your sales into the following week, wouldn't it?
Here's hoping that every single book of yours always makes the New York Times list!
Thanks guys, I'm very very happy, especially considering whose up there. I mean these are heavy hitters. Christine Feehan? Janet Evanovich? Hell, Danielle Steele and Mary Higgins Clark are major heavy hitters. They're like big time. And Traviss's Star Wars book . . . GAD! I'm lucky I made it in the top ten cause James PAtterson is under me and he's a huge one too, and so is Linda Lael Miller and she was already a big name when I just started writing!! So I'm sitting here goin' HOLY COW!!!
It kind of feels to me like the time in New York when Mr. Spice and I were coming back from our first outing at Maison together and I stopped and looked up at all the buildings towering around me like mountains, so huge they were nearly blocking out the sky and I was soooo small in the center of them. That's how it kinda feels for me today . . . little old me with all these HUGE writers around me. Holy!! I'm frickin' awed to be in such company.
Lynsay, I was especially happy when I saw the other authors in the list. Like Dave had told us, lots of competition the week Vampire, Interrupted was released, and the list of authors reflected that statement so well. I have read books by almost all of them, even Christine Feehan's complete Dark series, and also books by the other authors you mentioned. I know that these authors have major fan bases...you know, for some fans those are their "keeper" authors!
You are so modest (and so adorable) so we just have to make sure you know that the reason you are on that list with the big-hit-makers is because you have that much talent! YOU ARE A BIG-HIT-MAKER!
Also, your fan base is growing every day! Trust me...I didn't rush out to buy any of the others or do a happy-dance because it was the day of their release...but I had yours pre-ordered from my bookstore, and I still bought two copies in Wal-mart when I saw they were on the shelf first. They were moving fast!
If you go to the USA Today's list and put in Lynsay's name in the search box (only use Sands, it wouldn't work with the full name), it will give you a list of all of her books that have ever made the list, how high on the list they ever made it, and how many weeks it remained on the list.
Pretty cool. You have a lot of books that made it onto that list Lynsay!
you are so modest, it is sweet!! You totally deserve to be up there with the likes of Christeen feehan, and Janet Evanovich.....I can't speak for anyone else, but it was your books that started my reading paranormal romance. I wouldn't have even bothered with anyone on that list if i hadn't started reading the Argenaeu books!!
yea! G3 ( who totally believes that if they got the books in the stores on time, VI would have gone to #1, no matter the compotition)
I also believe that Vampires Are Forever was actually number one! The mix-up of releasing the books early was the only thing that kept the count from being accurate.
W2...who thinks all of Lynsay's books are #1 anyway!
What would help is if more stores would pay attention to the bestseller lists because even though a lot of stores (Target, ShopKo to name a couple) have racks labeled "Bestsellers." I have never seen any of Lynsay's books inside of it. What list are they going by?
Shouldn't that be the agent's job? To check on things like that? Or is that the publisher's job, perhaps falling under the category of promotion? Either way, someone is letting it slide and that's just odd because they are the ones who would benefit! The more visible Lynsay's books are, the bigger the audience they will attract, and the more books sold which helps line everyone's pockets!
*furtively looks around* Sometimes, I take a copy of Vampire, Interrupted and put it on the bestseller rack. That's where it should be and I figure it may take the store clerk until closing to put it back with the others. Maybe someone might see it this way who normally might not look beyond the aisle rack. Gotta do my part, right?
Great Idea Kim, I will try that from now on! Of course the only place I have found VI is in Barnes and Noble, haven't seen it in either Wal-Mart, Sam's, or Target. Did see it in a small bookstop by my house, but it was already on the new releases best seller aisle.
Out of all the Author listed by Mr. Spice. I only picked up Lynsay's book. I have been very picky on whose book I pick up and Lynsay you are definately one of my keeper authors.
