Mr. Spice & House Elf Terri...? about forum

Is there a way to make the "Getting to know you" thread stay at the top of the forum? It really is a fun way to introduce ourselves. I dislike having to always bump it to the top, but otherwise our new friends don't see it.

Just wondering, because I think it would be helpful.
I think it is fun to know a little about what we have in common with our other Lynsay Sands Super-fans, and the quiz is a lot safer way to introduce ourselves.

Wren, It's not possible on the forum as it stands at present although we have been evaluating different forum software and have pretty much decided on what we're going to change it to.

Once we've migrated onto the new software there will a number of new and improved features - such as a built in thermostat, automatic gearbox, reversing camera and rear seat airbags - along with the facility to pin certain subjects at the top of the listings.

The only negative in all of this will be that everyone will have to sign up again and create and ID and a personal password.

There will be more on this coming very soon.

Sounds like great new system, with luxury features , coming our way...until then, I'll just bump the little quiz up if it's okay with you!

Gotta stay warm.

Re: Mr. Spice & House Elf Terri...? about forum

glad it will be an automatic, not very good with stick. Multitasking is not my forte.

J4-Who unfortunately had to think about what "an automatic gearbox" meant. Not to swift I know.

Re: Mr. Spice & House Elf Terri...? about forum

J4 you are swift. I need the automatic also. Never did get the stchik of the stick

Oh, you would both do great! It's not hard...really.
It's not as convenient, but it's good to know how anyway. vroom......

My mom taught me in one afternoon when I first went off to college (out of necessity...we had bought a car that was a stick), and I've taught at least five others since then.

For some reason, I've taught several people to drive, ever since I was in my teens. Sheesh...that may not be a good thing My dh usually drives when we go anywhere, but that's a "man thing." My dad is the same way! Then, they are both fussing at the "idiot drivers" on the road nearly the whole
time.

Wren, I think your right,it is a man thing. My dad used to be that way too. Unfortunately his eyesight turned bad so now, he has no choice. He has to let someone else drive but that doesn't stop him from being a backseat driver. And since he learned to drive in New Jersey, he is one of the worse drivers in the world

My friend tried to "teach" me stick one time. I stalled her new VW out about four and five times and then she decided she no longer wanted to "teach" me.

So now it is strictly automatic or I walk.

Jill,

Yeah, but when we meet IRL, I'll show you how. This was the problem: She was trying to "teach" you. Always makes people get nervous.

My sweet sister-in-law was so frustrated when her dad and dh tried to teach her. They had tried several times. When we were visiting, I went with her for one afternoon...and she did all the driving. My Pop was relieved and happy, and my sis was driving all over the place. My good deed of the 1990s.

Just one per decade, you know wren

when we were first dating my husband tried to teach me to drive his truck, it didn't go too bad but I was never comfortable and never got very far and we have just never thought of it again.

Significant others or parents are probably the worst in the world to teach people who are close to them. Most of us get even more nervous at the thought of making a mistake in front of someone whose opinion matters to us. I didn't learn to drive until I was about 27 and so it was my husband trying to teach me at first. It didn't go so well. However, then I signed up for lessons through a driving school and it was so much easier. I wasn't as tense. I still don't like driving if my husband is with me. I worry about whether he will think I'm driving too slow or too fast or whether I should have waiting for a bigger opening in traffic, etc. Silly, huh?
