Fanfiction

I was just wondering if there were any archives out there that have any fiction based on Lynsay's books. I haven't been able to find any like I have with my other favourite authors.

If there is any out there i'd like to know

Re: Fanfiction

There is a my space "unofficial fan club" but I don't know if it includes fanfiction. Since I don't write fanfiction, I haven't ever looked for any sites.

Re: Fanfiction

Acal,

I forgot to tell you that we don't do fanfiction on this forum or the official website. It has a lot to do with legal reasons and so on, although I am sure Lynsay appreciates that her fans want to be part of the Argeneau world. She & Mr. Spice are always encouraging us to have fun...but Lynsay's name and characters are owned by Avon through contract, so they must abide by any legal agreements with her publisher.

It is in our best interest, because it means we get more books!

Re: Fanfiction

Acal, Wren is absolutely correct here.

Legally all of the characters are owned by Avon under contract. They even had to come to an agreement with Dorchester, when Lynsay changed publishers, for those that had already appeared in the first three published novels, along with the Aregeneau name, to continue to appear in future books.

In legal terms anyone using the Argeneau name and characters to write fan fiction would be in breach of copyright and could face legal action from the publisher. In the light of this it's only fair that Lynsay keeps her distance from this issue and isn't seen to encourage or enable anyone in what would actually be an illegal act.

This is, essentially, why we can't allow any fan fiction to be published here and why we also can't allow the forum to become a gateway to any websites that do publish fan fiction.

Sorry that I have to be so negative on this issue but we have to be seen to observe the terms of Lynsay's contract with the publisher.

Re: Fanfiction

Ok thats ok, I know its a sensitive topic for some publishers

Re: Fanfiction

Thanks, Dave. That explains it much better, because I didn't really know enough about how publishing contracts work.

Even though I'm often a difficult & bossy chick (just ask big sis Cindy )I would not want to be negative or give the wrong information to other fans.

Re: Fanfiction

There was one question I did want to ask, does Argeneau really mean silver? I came across that in A Quick Bite I think

Re: Fanfiction

Acal

I read somewhere on a question & answer with Lynsay that same question. Here is the answer that was posted;

I came up with the Argeneau name from argentum which is latin for silver. In early times, people were named for notable attributes ie strength, blonde hair, etc. and as the Argeneaus all have silvered eyes, I decided their name would be based on this.

Hope that helped.

Re: Fanfiction

Yeah, I know the Romans named a silver mining outpost Argentium

Re: Fanfiction

I've done some fanfiction writing before but never any based on characters from a book... that's just stepping on someones toes in my opinion... the stuff I have done has been based on tv characters for contests here online... and that hasn't even been true fanfiction writing on my part... LOL... I usually take an original work that I have done and changed the character and place names to match the setting for peramiters of the contests themselves...
