Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
The lists are calculated of sales from the release Tuesday to the following one, so Wednesday, March 5th, sometime in the late afternoon is when the information will be available.
Obviously I'd like to see VI reach number one but with the competition this time around I think the best we could hope for is number 3 again and I'm probably being very optimistic with that.
Christine Feehan, Janet Evanovitch and a few others all have releases this week and will certainly have higher sales than Lynsay. So, to be realistic, anywhere in the top ten will be a great result.
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
I have read Christine Feehan but if I had a choice it would be Lynsay all the way.
Wren-I like Victoria Alexander too and Nicole Jordan has another that was to come out on the 26th. it is the second book of a series. I am going to Wal-Mart today to see if maybe they have it there you never know I might get lucky!
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
Well I am a sucker for a romance series. I'd be lying if I said otherwise. So I do have "other" keepers, however Lynsay is the only author that I have :
a) joined a forum for discussion about
b) actually started collecting other books by said author so I may brag that I have her every book
c) re-read several times, so much so that spines on all my books (especially the Argeneau series) are in shreds
So after my little speech I just wanted to say that LYNSAY SANDS IS #1
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
For me, the "dark series" has gone as far as it can go. I like some of the books, but I don't keep them. I even bought the last in hardcover...and I was a bit disappointed in the turn of events in the series. Christine Feehan is a good author...but I have just lost interest, and I never read her other books. I feel the same way about Sherrilyn Kenyon's "dark hunter" series...again not questioning her talent, but not interested in the series any longer.
I no longer read The Blackdagger Brotherhood series due to personal reasons. Although J.R.Ward is also a good author, the series has more profanity than I care for and is going in a hardcore direction. That is even on her official site, of which I am not a forum member.
I agree with Cindy that of the authors mentioned, Lynsay is the one that writes "true romance." Even if VI doesn't get #1 due to the timing of the releases, it will still be #1 for me.
Actually, at this time, the only other paranormal romance that I will read is Kerrilyn Sparks "Love at Stake" series. Her books are also written with a light touch, and since the premise is so much different from The Argeneau Books, it's not like a copycat series. Those I am willing to buy and possibly keep.
Jill, I also have some romance authors who write series about families that I enjoy. I have very few keeper authors, though...among them Victoria Alexander and Julia Quinn. Those are the two authors that brought me back to reading the romance genre, after several years of giving them up. I grew very tired of the "bodice-ripper, forced seduction (as they are calling it these days)" books.
As for me, Lynsay Sands is my favorite author period, regardless of genre... and I love the paranormals and historicals, and even anthologies. I love the Hannah Howell/Lynsay Sands duos as well, as I have long enjoyed Hannah's books. I want all of Lynsay's books, and this is the only forum that I take part in and even have my own set of Angelic Enforcer sisters, and Dave only makes us sit in the corner when we misbehave. IRL, I have turned both my sisters and their daughters into Lynsay fans. I read her blog, Mr. Spice's blog, love the newsletter, and promote her work to everyone! Plus, the Spices keep the forum fun & comfortable for everyone... and the people who come here are nice, like neighbors you would want to have a cup of tea or coffee with while you discuss the latest Argeneau news and fun contests.
One day, when Lynsay attends another Romance Writer conference, I'm going to try to go. My mother said she would enjoy doing that with me. So I'm saving my pennies now! Don't worry Lynsay, I'm not a stalker. I just really enjoy your writing because it is quality work, and mom & I just think it would be fun to attend one of the conferences...like a mini mom & daughter vacation. Maybe my sisters could also come along!
As for the Argeneaus, Lynsay never disappoints. They are always different...never formulaic, the twists and turns are always surprising...they are truly funny and yet truly romantic...they have a premise that is believable...I'm sure I must be preaching to the choir here.
I am not bashing any of the authors that I mentioned that I no longer read, and do not wish to offend those of you who still enjoy their work. I recognize their talent...their books are just not my cup of tea.
Perhaps I have just burnt-out on the darker paranormals from reading so many when they all first became popular.
Well, got to go get my van out of the shop. All that fuss for it to be just the battery...more about that another time
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
San Francisco would be fun... My Prince Charming (we had a really great day today...when we don't, he is the frog prince LOL) and I lived there the first year we were married...he was still in the navy then..."my sailor man"
Do you have the dates or the website for me, Mr. Spice? I need to look into it now if I'm going to try to make it a possibility!
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
Wrong coast and wrong country for us Canadians. OK, so I'm officially still a Brit but since I pay Canadian taxes it's near enough. Actually, thinking about it, I pay taxes and yet I'm not allowed to vote. Could this be this why I keep getting the urge to hurl tea chests into the nearest harbour?
Dates for 'Frisco are July 30th to August 2nd. The RWA website is:
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
wrong coast too Maybe my million dollar check will come in the mail that I keep expecting and then I can take all of us on the trip. Mr. Spice you can come too but you have to promise not to throw things
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
Mr. Spice...I thought you really enjoyed your daily tea. Go throw coffee or cokes in the nearest harbour instead. (Preferably some off-the-wall flavoured cokes... Don't waste the real thing!)
Don't forget...you have to dress up with feathers and war paint...and lead up to a revolutionary war to start your own country...
Lynsay will have to come get you from jail or the loony bin...and you may be denied Canadian citizenship...but needs must when you are making a point about taxes!
Thanks for giving me the info about the conference...my birthday is Aug. 6th...wonder if I can get my prince charming to go for it as an early and special gift? I wouldn't place any wagers on it. Not yet, anyway!
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
C1...it is not a Bad thing for your mind to be elsewhere???is it? After all, you do have to keep your little sisters behaving themselves, especially after just finishing the amazing VI!
I personally think there is a lot to be said for feathers...heeheehee
G3, there are some parts of history best forgotten...and sometimes I think The Village People may be one of them... Y-M-C-A ...unless we get a few Argeneaus into those outfits
J4...since you prefer tools to feathers...just for you
Mr. Spice...some days you are just naughty ...don't know what Mrs. Spice is going to do with you! I hope she makes you dress up in your feathers & warpaint and "shake it" all night long...
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
HEY!! Behave you guys, GEEEEES. LOL. Or don't. Sounds like you're having fun and I enjoyed reading it. Now, be great friends and help me try to convince Mr. Spice to model the pirate outfit someone sent me after I wrote Lady Pirate. Eye patch, hat, sword. . . I believe that's it. But then what else does a good pirate need
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
J4,
Have you read the Lder's recent blog? She was in a "shake it" dance contest while off researching our next book...and she was among the winners. So, she might enjoy Dave "shaking" his tailfeathers.
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
Hmm...pirates are cool. If Mrs. Spice can get Mr. Spice to shake his tailfeather in a pirate outfit, she needs to take some polaroids. In fact I can see that posted in next month's newsletter.
Re: When will we know the NYT list and others for Vampire, Interrupted?
C1...C-one
I was replying to J4 saying she didn't want that mental picture of Mr. Spice in her head from an earlier post...although I think our Lder might like that picture of her dh just fine. Seems she prefers a pirate, though!
W2...W-two ...who does know who her big sis is, I promise!
