Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

yes she writes historical romance, I have read her before and really liked the books. I just tried picking it up again and just couldn't concentrate so I think I will just give it a break for a while.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

I know Jill they are so exciting not to mention the wonderful "love scenes" haha. I just bought the new Cathy Maxwell book and the Victoria Alexander book you are talking about but I haven't read them yet I hope they aren't too terrible!!

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Obviously. Lynsay is the queen of everything but I also love Katie Macalister (spelling) and Victoria Laurie, I spend my year very sadly praying for all three to write faster!!!

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

The Perfect Wife is a reprint of Victoria Alexander's either first or second book. I haven't read it yet, but would like to.

Victoria Alexander writes the Effington historicals...she is fantastic. If you like Julia Quinn's Bridgerton's series and Lisa Kleypas' historicals, you will probably like her books. She is in my top three keepers...right after Lynsay who is always first!

Read "The Husband List" and "The Marriage Lesson" and later in the series, "In Pursuit of Marriage." They are very lighthearted, and she has a humourous touch.

Wonderful author! Brought me back to romance, along with Julia Quinn...which is how I discovered Lynsay!

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

I am still reading The Perfect Wife but I am happy to say that it has picked up for me.

Julia Quinn is another author I really enjoy I have most of her Bridgerton series and am looking for the ones I am missing.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Jodi,

Email me your Julia Quinn needs list...I have all of her books...she is also in my top three favorites.

I'll look for the first of Victoria Alexander's Effington series also, because it's sounds like a series you will enjoy.

Send me a list of others...we have until September until we get Mortimer's book...I'll place our order, and be looking around for others you need or would like to try. By then, I'm sure you will have finished your box, which will hopefully get there sometime this week!

I'm still looking through our Canadian package...and we love the pictures and information you have sent by email. I may never get any other way to see the Northern Lights! Since Gypsy is helping with science, I'll get her to help us look up information on the diamond mines. Thanks for everything!

I'll email you, wren

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Just tried Lori Foster, who was mentioned by two different people. I'm really enjoying her books. What I like the most is she seems to be very prolific so now I have plenty of books to keep me busy for a while! A lot of the secondary characters in her books usually end up with their own book later which I always enjoy. Sort of like the Argeneau series.

Also tried Mary Balogh's The Gilded Web, and then The Devil's Web. I really enjoyed both books but prefered the first slightly better. It had a more unusual twist to the plot. The female lead, Alexandra, was accidently kidnapped which led to her betrothed breaking off their engagement and then led to two more proposals. One from the brother who found her tied up in his house, Edmund, and the other from his younger brother who had arranged the kidnapping of his twin sister, Madeline, to prevent her elopement. But his friends grabbed the wrong girl and that's how everything got started.

The Devil's Web is the love story of Alexandra's brother James and Edmund's sister Madeline. There is an attraction between them from the first but a lot of misunderstandings come between them. It's still a good story but it's more conventional than the first. There is one other book in the series which I have to hunt for now which tells the story of Madeline's twin brother.

The author has another series where all the titles seem to start with the word Slightly but I haven't read any of them yet.

How many more months until Lynsay's next book? *sigh*

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

I read a lot of romance books, I like Cheryl Holt, she is a good romance writer, the thing is that her books could get a little, you know, hot should I say?, they could make you every once in a while, but not to the point when you just dont want to keep reading(or cant put it down, depends on your point of view ) anyhow, you could give it a try, is true, we have till september to get the next Lynsay book so it cant hurt you

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

I actually don't read many romance books, but I love Lynsay's para-normal romances involving the Argeneaus. I can't forget the Circle Series by Nora Roberts which was also para-normal romance too.
Para-normal books (non romance oriented) are what I normally read (I.E. Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series, Kim Harrison's Hollows series, Vicki Petterson's Joanna Archer series, Jenna Black, Rachel Vincent, Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series and a few more.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

You aren't kiddin about Cheryl Holt! Holy Smokes! :)
Jill I am desperately waiting on Kresley's next two books too (I also got her historical books but I need the first in the series before I read em)
and I wish Kim Harrison would write faster lol I read too fast for my darn favorite authors.
I just bought the Victoria Alexander and Cathy Maxwell book also, but I haven't read them yet I read Karen Hawkin's new book last night
I can't wait for NOra Robert's second book in her new trilogy to come out. I read Rebellion by Nora and I wish she'd actually write more historical romances because that is by far the best book I have read by her and it only comes second to her circle trilogy.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

You know who else I also love for good paranormal romance. Nina Bangs. She is a little racy with some of her love scenes but her paranormal ranges from Vampires to shapeshifters. She has a couple of series that I have read and some books that incorporate other characters from those series into them but aren't actually part of the series.

Kelli we have to wait until May I think for Kresley Cole.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Hi Kristy Jo

Good to see you again!

I also enjoyed some of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series...it's been awhile since I read one.

I have read a few of the Nina Bang's books, and they are usually good.

Mostly I read the lighthearted paranormal romances or historicals, though!

*** SPOILER WARNING ~ TAV***
How did you like The Accidental Vampire?...we finally got our "older girl" as the heroine...and a few of her friends as well

wren

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Wren you should try The Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison its paranormal pretty good series. There are 6 books so far.
I think it is my second favorite series Lynsays Vampires being the first favorite

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

If you like Lynsay style of writing, then I think you would enjoy Kerrelyn Sparks. I picked up all 4 of her and enjoyed them. they are funny, witty, sexy and a touch of suspense.
Also, J.R. Ward is awesome, way different from Lynsay, but I really enjoyed those books.
I am going to try reading Laurell K. Hamilton(the anita blake series).
Lara Adrian is another good read. It is differnt then Lysay, it is a little more darker, not so much humor, but great romance and thrill.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Ok - now you guys have got me looking all these authors up. Since I'm finished with all the Argeneaus and all Lynsay's Historicals except for Sweet Revenge and Always (which are on order), I have picked up Kerrilyn Sparks (whose a Katy/Houston Native). I met her at the local bookstore during a signing a couple of weeks ago, while I was looking for some of Lynsay's historicals that I was missing (sometimes they just appear when someone orders them and doesn't pick them up).

Picked up a few of the Anthologies Lynsay has as well. But will look into some of the other authors suggested on the thread as well. I'm new to the romance genre, as Lynsay's Argeneaus were my first and am so glad they were.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

I just picked up Kerrelyn Sparks because of you ladies. I like her and I just started on her 4th book. So far my favorite is her 3rd book in the series.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Jodi

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

I believe Gena was answering a question from the end of the previous page of posts. They were talking about Victoria Alexander, and yes, Gena, she writes Historical Romance. I like her Effington series very much.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

Gena, good to know I thought I was going crazy because I didn't know who you were talking about
Yes Victoria Alexander writes historical romances and the book I had mentioned ended up being really good, I think I was having a hard reading it because I had too much going on and just couldn't concentrate. that is why I left reading the Argeneau books until I wasn't working, more time and less on my mind.

Jodi

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

The BDB Brothers are not meant to be picked as favorites...each contributes to the whole group, kwim?

wren

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

I think I have disagree on that Wren. My fave is definetly Z. But I do love all the brothers even my least fave which is Butch.

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course

i know exactly what you mean about the Brothers themselvs...they are all different, and they all have their own things to add to the group to make a whole!!...KIND OF LIKE THE "SASSY AE4!"

but based on the books, and not the brothers, i love Z's book!and of course Wrath! ( i can't help it, its the long black hair!SmileyCentral.com

Re: fav authors..other than lynsay of course
