Theme Song

So I was watching Happy Feet the movie and of course that movie is full of music and in the back of mind I kept wondering if they did make Argeneaus into a T.V. show or even a movie series what would be their theme song?

Would it be upbeat or kind of slow and dramatic? I love music. So for me a lot times that makes the show or movie. Just a thought.

Re: Theme Song

I think something that starts out happy with a slow romantic middle section, then jazzing back up! Any ARGENEAUT composers on the forum?

wren

Re: Theme Song

Wren, I like the way your thinking, but....
SmileyCentral.com

the way these poor guys find themselves in these strange situations and usually mess things up at first (GREG INCLUDED)you would think it would be something quick and bouncy...almost funny!!then slow down to something more dramatic at the end.

SmileyCentral.com BLAH, BLAH!

anyone else have an idea?...

Re: Theme Song

Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" lol Can u just see Thomas is his leather pants shakin his booty to that?! lol

Re: Theme Song

I like the way you are thinking Lanie Bell. Maybe something from a Canadian singer?
Off the top of my head I can only think of Alanis Morrisette but I can't think of any song of hers that would be appropriate. Anyone else with ideas?

Re: Theme Song

yea ell, if lucien had his way there for awhile he would hear:
"I'm A B#%*H!" playing whenever RACHEL walked in the room. (that is until they patched things up)

what about the last one she put out,(it was the last one i remember anyway) and of course i can't remember the title but the video hd her walking down the road naked!!...anyone know it???

however, i do like her sound, maybe she could right one for it!

g3

Re: Theme Song

Gena, that was two different singers, Alanis Morissette was the one who walked around naked and Meredith Brooks sang that song. But you are right the are both good singers.

You are so bad but so true. You know my main man so well. Give him time and he will probably go back to being BA. After all he needs it for council work.
He can not be all warm and fluffy dealing with rouges.

Re: Theme Song

Its funny but when I think of Lucian I could picture him listening to "Highway to H***" by ACDC. He seems like the type. Or maybe night. He's your man Cindy you would know better.

Re: Theme Song

I'd pick some cool jazz tune like Miles Davis' - So What. It suggests detachment, sophistication and a life that only begins when the sun has slipped beyond the horizon.

Re: Theme Song

Mr. Spice,

I think I would have to disagree, I like Miles....but I think BIRD would be more his style. I little mellow, but still with enough emotion that he wouldn't feel completly out of place. He does like to be in control, you know!!

Jodi----- your right...MY BAD!!! My jokes would be funnier if I can get them right!!

C1, so what do you say he would prefer......... ."High Way To H***!" acdc or a little "CRAZY TRAIN" from OZZY! when he gets home??

Re: Theme Song

Lucien listening to AC/DC? I'd picture him listening to modern composition - Edgard Varese, Stockhausen and other modernists. To me he's a man who would like cold, minimalist, and mathematical music.

Etienne would be the metal monster - I can see a games writer listening to Black Sabbath, AC/DC and similar.

Dave

Re: Theme Song

I have him pictured as listening to classical. I have to disagree on AC/DC maybe Meatloaf?

C1

Re: Theme Song

i disagree with the AC/DC theory. I can see Etienne listening to some techno or even a little Audioslave, 30 Seconds to Mars, or My Chemical Romance. Stuff like that. not too hard but edgy enough to get his blood pumping.

I can see Lucian jamming to Barry White for some reason lol at least now that Leigh is in his life.

Re: Theme Song

Hm... The Argeneau Show Staring!!!!......teh heh it would lose it's quality if it were a sitcom. Smallville, Supernatural, and Charmed yes the Argeneau's are just too cool they would need like Lord of the rings long movies or long enough to get the happiness of Lynsay's work out there to drag peoples minds into the threshhold of Lynsay's awesomeness The theme...It would be cool if it was something Thomas Composed It couldn't anything rock or metal or screamo that would kill it...it would have to be something light and meaningful either a score of music or a nice happy song nothing to dramatic maybe a little at one part but it would have to be just right. Violins would have to be there!...hm...Lucien and his listening to music well he has been around for centuries he could have many different tastes old and new music and then there is the music that Leigh would listen to and he would most likely find what she listens to very likeable indeed...hm...ACDC I don't know if he would maybe Highway to hell when he is about to bust a badey he needs to get his game on why not get pumped with rock music something for the mood Etienne definately would need pump up music something to give him ideas to create to Etienne I think is A My Chemical Romance kinda guy who probably drags Rachel to dance to Techno music too...Club music would be something he would listen to too I think.

Re: Theme Song

ya know I think it WOULD be a fabulous idea to do some sort of showtime series or movie(s) of the Argeneau's. I would totally watch it and I'm pretty sure most of the world would too, even if they'd never read Lynsay's books. There's enough plot and entertainment to hold up and keep interest.
Lynsay/Mr. Spice - you should look into that, I think the world needs Argeneau love included in their late night entertainment (other than all of us of course lol).

Re: Theme Song

Lanie

That is a great idea. The only problem I foresee is that not everybody has extended cable. Nor dish.

Some movie studios put their movies straight on DVD's. That would be a better solution. Then you not only help Lynsay's sales, but you would get to watch them anytime you wish and as often.

A friend of mine can only get the basic networks. And that is if the weather co-operates. She justs gets the movies, series that she wants then watches them when she can.

Re: Theme Song

For overall Argeneaus, I'm still on the Jazz roll here...a little biased though, having grown up so close to New Orleans. I can't help it, but I just hear a sexy saxophone...or maybe a really good clarinet. I don't hear any words, just music. Naturally, Thomas would compose it. Either Jazzy or Bluesy...

Yeah, I can see individual tunes for each Aregeneau or related (enforcer/friend) character. But AC/DC for Lucien (or Lucern)...Nada...can't see it...have you ever been to one of their concerts? Well, this old lady has, and even when willing to listen to it...I think that's where I lost a part of my hearing. And Lucien has a few centuries on me, ya know? I wasn't even much of an AC/DC fan, but you will do things and go places for friends in spite of your better judgement. It wasn't the music, it was the cannons being fired (over & over) and we were right up there by them...I literally could not hear for several hours when I came out. Maybe I just have a bad association with that memory because it's not really the music, and I like a some of the songs, especially those mentioned.

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW***

I'll have to think on the individual music. With Lucern, even with his bouncy Kate, I hear something classy. That doesn't mean classical music, but it could be. Even with his gruff social exterior, he still has that old world elegance...which is one of the things that most attracts Kate.

Thomas is the easiest...he will be very eclectic. As a composer/musician, there will not be a type of music for him because he is his own style! Once again, Lynsay has created in Thomas something special that we all fall for. Now that everyone admits that there is more to him than "Dude or Dudette" and that he is not a kid anymore...except I'm guessing that he and Inez still have some issues to face over where to live and how their careers will mesh...especially if she thinks he just doodles music as a hobby.

wren...who needs to listen to more music

Re: Theme Song

Cindy -

I'm one of those people who currently don't even have cable (no seriously i have 4 channels and only 2 come in good lol) but I would DEFINATELY get hooked up if I had to lol I'm devoted. But ya I think that would most definately be wonderful if I could just lounge in the living room and get a quick argeneau fix whenever I needed one without having to steal my books back from whoever I've loaned them to. lol

Wren - I think thomas will most likely move to the UK since Izez has such a good position in the company and he has no real bind to Toronto except for his family, and that's just a plane ride away.

Re: Theme Song

Yeah I actually have no cable no basic channels nada. After my mom Canceled direct Tv all we get is a Direct TV dish Bouncing around the screne and no Basic anything. If it was a series I would bye every single season when it come out in a DVD Box set. I think i am getting use to A series but then again...plus the intimate scence could be done beautifully like in Underworld two or Catch and release then again most of the fun is in the getting there and in bettween that would be worth showing. I think maybe though the movies would be really awesome. I would rush tothe movies opening night to see it. All of them for that matter! I don't like alot of ACDC songs I think it would be good if it was like maybe on the radio or something when Lucian and Leigh are going to Thomas lake house...I love that lake house Thomas has got style. I had always seen more in him then Dude and Dudette but unfortunatly my crush is gone for the little sexy thing. Inez deserves him! I would be horrible if they were walking down the street or I knew the Argeneaus I would probably no I would definatly be just as bad as Margurite. I am the friend who match makes and I was always the mother when it came to my friends. I want to be just as strong as Margurite if I ever find my lifemate and have children.

Re: Theme Song

If it's violins you want then it has to be Jean Luc Ponty

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCdH5ipBb5k

Dave

Re: Theme Song

I like the idea of violins. Could we mix it with some rock though?

Right now I am listening a singer who might be good. Her name is Chantal Kreviatzuk. I'm sure what genre she would fit in. Everyone of her songs have a different tone to them. Anyway she sings a song called "Weight of the World" that is a little bouncy but not obnoxiously so. It might work.

I also like the jazz idea too. But I don't recognize any of the names mentioned except Miles Davis. I am trying to expand my repertoire though so if you guys have good recommedations for good jazz muscians to listen to, I am all my ears. I am into Billie Holiday recently. Does she count as jazz?

Re: Theme Song

I DON'T KNOW WHY I DIDN'T THINK OF IT BEFORE...SmileyCentral.com

OK EVERYONE WHO IS INTRESTED GO TO:

http://www.myspace.com/withintemptation

scroll down on the music player to "FROZEN", the words are very close to the meaning of TRUE_LIFEMATES! and what Lynsay is trying to get across. Also, STAND MY GROUND or Angels, could work to.But I think that FROZEN would be the best..This a group I ave been listening for years (from when I lived in Europe..) they are called WITHIN TEMPTATION, they are from DUTCH..and I think they have a good mix of what we are looking for for a theme show!

MR.SPICE/LYNSAY...I would be curious to know what you think?

Re: Theme Song

That's a good find, Gena. You might be on a winner with that one. They remind me of Evanessence, who I know Lynsay likes.

Re: Theme Song

Hey Gena I really like them. thanks for posting.
I agree with Mr Spice they do sound like EN

Re: Theme Song

If the Argeneaus were made into a movie series each one would have to have their own soundtrack. I wonder what kind of songs would be used for each story?

Thoughts anyone.

Re: Theme Song

jill....COOL IDEA!!

i think we have come up with "within Temptation "for an overall theme....
Buts lets see what we find...

LUCIEN...something Jazzy, mr. spice liked "Miles"...
EITENE...something modern, "MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE"
VICTOR....
LISSIANNA...
MARGEURITE...
THOMAS....Orchestra (something he wrote, of course) may be along the lines of "YANNI" (orchestra meets modern)
BASTIEN....
LUCERN....
VINCENT...

SORRY TO ANY ARGENAEUS' I MIGHT HAVE FORGOT...I AM VERY SmileyCentral.comTONIGHT...

SISTERS.....TELL ME IF I FORGOT ANYONE,
AND LETS SEE WHAT WE CAN COME UP WITH!

Re: Theme Song

I Love evanescence and within Temptation Within Temptations song Angels is really good Nightwish is kinda like them too but more opratic and stronge Nemo is really good from Nightwish so is I wish I had an Angel I have to check out the link you gave me Dave. I couldn't resist after seeing evanescence and within Temptation those are two of my favorite bands:D

Re: Theme Song

Gabrielle, I can't quite get my head around Nightwish - the vocal style doesn't work for me in that setting.

As for the others...

Lucien. Jazz, definitely. Modern, post bop, certainly up to the point where jazz became fusion in the 1970's. Nowadays he'd listen to European jazz, especially the icily cool stuff currently coming out of Scandinavia.

Etienne - Electronic music, anyone from Kraftwerk thro' Tangerine Dream to the current independant electronica scene. I'd also guess he might like some of the less commercial hip hop and also the current crop of metal bands.

Victor - He's a real traditionalist so I'd guess he'd be a fan of classical music.

Lissianna - Hip hop and dance.

Margeurite - Light classical and all of the classic singers from Sinatra, Streisand and even Whitney and Celine.

Thomas - I think he's surprise us all and have a very eclectic taste and not be limited to any one single style or genre. But I think it would be all modern and bordering on the experimental side of things.

Vincent - Show tunes.

Lucern - He's the difficult one. I think he's be the opera buff and also the one who would like the later dated classical composers like Sibelius and Holst.

Bastien - He's another that would be into opera and all thing classical. Possibly also classic rock.

Tomorrow I'll probably have a completely different view - but right now this is my pitch.

Dave

Re: Theme Song

Hmm.....

For Lissiana - I would definetly say Hip Hop but also latest pop/rock songs to hit the scene.

Etiene - I could definetly see him going darker. Some Disturbed, Jane's Addiction, Marilyn M. and maybe Rob Zombie.

Bastien - He's definetly mature character. For some reason I am seeing classic 70's for him. Pink Floyd can't beat "Comfortably Numb". Or maybe Led Zeplin.

Lucern - Definite fan of Opera -Puccini, Aida, Carmen, and Madam Butterfly adorn his CD selection.

Vincent - Dave's right - show tunes. I can see him knowing every song from Wicked - The Musical or Spamalot.

Lucian - He would be jazz but I am leaning towards classical jazz. Some Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Coltrane, and Miles Davis.

Victor - He would be classical. Mozart, Bach, Bizet, and Brahms.

Thomas - Would be the wild card. I think he would like music that was totally different from the kind of music he composes. I think it would be great if he was a huge country music fan. Brooks and Dunn, some Reba and Montgomery Gentry.

Margarite - She would love the piano classics like Beethoven. I can see her perfoming the Moonlight Sonata that would bring tears to your eyes. Who knows she may have even met him in her lifetime. I also think she would have instilled Lucern with the love of Opera though.

Those are my thoughts. Now if we were to create a soundtrack for each Argeaneau we would need at least 10 to 12 good songs. Does anyone want to try Lissiana's soundtrack first?

Re: Theme Song

Mr. Spice

I totally agree with all your predictions...

As Far as Thomas ....thats where the YANNI came in, a HYBRID of classical (motzart, Bach) with modern (very modern, intruments and scores) not that I like him much, but YANNI is the only one I could think of at the time!

And LISSIANA...I don't know about HIP HOP!...as much as I want to remember she is young, I still kind of see her as a mix of DANCE ( for the club) and classic rock just to chill. She always seems to be more mature than her age!

just my opinion! now that the baby is asleep..i really am going to bed!
g3

Re: Theme Song

I don't see Lissianna going all hip-hop on us, I see her more girly than that. Christina, Britney, Celine, Sarah Maclachlan, a bit of evanescence, and kelly clarkson. I see her being into the classic powerhouses and 80's rocker chicks like pat benetar, the pretenders, aretha franklin, and tina turner.

I can see marguerite listening to sarah maclachlan, sarah brightman, enya, celine dion...women with classic sounds.

Re: Theme Song

jmo, but don't confuse what someone does in their career for the music that fits them as a person. For example, Vincent will know every show tune & music for the theater back until he was 10yo, and I think he will have a special love for most of it. But, that doesn't define him musically...remember that he and Bastien were close when they were younger and spent a lot of time running around together. So I see them having some of their musical tastes from their younger days in common. Also, they both have a vunerable side that they don't usually show anyone else, even family. They are both more than Bastien's "take charge and take care of everyone" businessman persona and Vincent's many eons as an actor and businessman. Also, I could see Vincent enjoying show tunes but wanting to hear something different when he was not at work, kwim?

I also think that all of the kids that Marguerite has had a hand in raising will have an appreciation of classical music. Just her influence alone may have brought that about, even if that is not their preferred music now. We know that she taught and encouraged Thomas musically, and some of his songs were "#1 hits" that his cousins enjoyed, even when they didn't know he was the composer.

As for Lucern...he will have an appreciation of opera, classical, and other music he has heard in six centuries but limiting him to those makes him seem "stuffy" and he is anything but...look how powerful he was in VAF and how popular he became with everyone at RT in SWV. He may be gruff & quiet, but when he does choose to speak, you get an altogether different perception of him.

Actually, Mr. Spice, your description of Marguerite in music was more of my thoughts on Lucern, in spite of his quirks (like not opening his mail...sound like anyone you know? ) Lucern is Classy (don't forget about that old world elegance...which doesn't mean opera, I hope) and somewhat eclectic in his way. Some wine and cheese, and music for the mood...even old stuff done in a modern style if it's right for the mood. Well, maybe anything except for Kate singing "Roxanne," which he will only enjoy because he loves her.

I think Lucern is quietly open to a lot of things...he just needs to take off those blinders regarding Etienne & Thomas. Oh, and let others see that he is not as "set in his ways" as he appears.

wren...who has to think about it

Re: Theme Song

In truth I'd probably agree with you Wren, especially concerning Lucern. I'm sure he'd find the whole musical palette in all it's varied colors and hues to be an endlessly fascinating arena for exploration and discovery.

In my mental picture of him he'd be the kind of man who, on discovering that the composer Sibelius had based some of his work on tradional Finnish folk music, would have to go and explore and understand the original source material for himself.

I don't think he would have any boundaries or limitations. I think Robert Johnson, Hank Williams and Woody Guthrie would have an equal standing in his music library alongside of Mozart, Strauss and Beethoven. Of all the Argeneau family, Lucern would be the one to understand that music, as a means of communication can, in all it's varied forms and styles, transcend language, culture, geographical borders and any other of the many differences that divide the various members of our species..

Dave

Re: Theme Song

I think that their lifemates will also have a major contribution to what they will be listening to.

Lucian maybe into jazz but what if Leigh encouraged him to listen to all the girl groups from the 60s. It may not normally be his type of music but he may find he grows to love it because she loves it.

P.S. I had nice mental picture of Lucern singing "My Cheating Heart" by Hank Williams to the top of his lungs. Interesting

Re: Theme Song

That's exactly what I meant, Mr. Spice. I had even thought of folk songs, but hadn't thought about it in relation to classical or the opera. Also, I hope it didn't sound like I was coming down on the opera, because I think that Lucern and some of the others would appreciate opera in a way that many today do not.

Lucern would be the one, Thomas aside, to understand that all genres of music cross each other to some extent...

Thomas would have a natural understanding of that from a musician's point of view, but Lucern would have that knowledge as an innate part of being the listener which is the other half of the musical experience, and of simply partaking of the music and allowing his own curiosity and imagination to lead him to explore. It is a matter of simply being who he is...and the difference between him and the younger Argeneaus, even Bastien, is that Lucern knows and accepts himself. I believe that part of Lucern's character comes from having been a warrior, and I wonder if as the oldest he was away from Jean Claude when JC was falling into the downhill slide of the alcoholism at the very end.

Also, I agree with Jill on two points. One, that at least the older of the immortals may have actually met the musicians that they most admire. Two, that their lifemates will have a big influence on what they will listen to or do now. Again, think of Lucern and tv in SWV...even if they weren't committed lifemates yet, after Kate had him watch tv with C.K., he wondered why he had never bothered.

Also, I see Victor & Elvi on a motorcycle with loud rock & roll playing as they zoom on down the road

Re: Theme Song

i would have to say that lucien's theme song would be "be free" by papa roach.or "accidentaly in love" by counting crows.
for vincent it could be "mr. brightside" by the killers

i dont who, but someone could have "every time we touch" by cascada. ....maybe that would be the theme song for all of 'em! lol
