Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

I know it's bad manners to start another thread about the book when there already was one so many apologies. However, I wanted to label this one as containing spoilers so everyone who has already read the book could feel free to say specifically what they liked and did not like (which should be hard to find!) about the book.

My favorite part of the book is after Thomas bites Inez and then realizes that he cannot read her at all and she just keeps saying "You bit me!". Then the whole conversation with Bastien had me laughing so hard. I can just picture poor Thomas outside the locked bathroom door (with Inez inside ranting in Portugese) with the phone in his hand and a shell-shocked look on his face.

When he told Inez that it was Bastien's fault, that "Bastien made me do it." I nearly choked laughing. That sounds exactly like something I hear every day with my two sons (4 and almost 6 years, just 19 months apart in age).

One quibble though. I'm sorry but I found it really odd that Inez would leave Thomas after he was stabbed to go out and look for Marguerite. I can understand Thomas being so worried but Inez barely knows the woman. The moment where someone answers Marguerite's phone and threatens to kill her if they call again had not occurred yet. The fact that the phone location kept moving had lulled them into thinking that she possibly was just caught up in the case. So why would Inez leave a barely healed Thomas laying on the floor to go out and check on the coordinates? I know that she was worried he would get in trouble for revealing his fangs and super speed and she didn't have a good reason for Thomas not to want the new coordinates but...it just didn't feel right. I still have to reread the book again at a much slower pace (I read it in only a couple of hours) so maybe it will make more sense the second go around.

I was a tad disappointed that after Thomas wondered if Inez was a descendant of an old friend of his, it was never mentioned again. I think it would have been neat to have that confirmed!

Another favorite part is how Inez made the blonde bad guy lost control of her mind by insulting him. Way to go Inez! Too bad it resulted in so many injuries to herself but at least she survived. And then when he returned, the shock on the part of both of them when, in the middle of a fight, they realized she had been turned!

I am constantly amazed at how creative Lynsay can be when it comes to these books! So many unusual things happen in each one but I do think that this one is the best so far and the fact that it is Thomas' story just makes it that much better.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

That part was very funny I about chocked myself. Then the part where Inez says she works fort the Devil. Then Thomas saying you should try being his cousin.

I was not fond of Inez leaving Thomas either. What did she think she could do that Thomas could not.

Also I jut loved that Inez did what Thomas wanted so bad to do. She decked Bastien. Even thou she did not know she did it.

Wish they had talked more to Vincent, Jackie also Lucien and Leigh (Glad that they made it.)

Will re-read it tomorrow to see what I may have missed.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

Kim, ( no references, just my opinion)

I think Inez was thinking like a human when she left Thomas. She hadn't yet figured on her actullu being in "love" with him yet. Howver, she wanted to find his Aunt, so that their job was done, and she could get on with just spending time with him (ALONE!!, it is a selfish way of thinking, but aren't we all a little selfish at times!)

As far as when he said "Batien made me do it" i started laughing out loud. but one of the best parts for mewas when she was nervous about Bastien being there ( her boss), she spilled water on him and Terri walks in right as she is drying "lil Bastien" ( as Thomas would say! )

"Inez says she works fort the Devil. Then Thomas saying you should try being his cousin." your right, that is one of the best lines in the book! poor thomas!

You are also right about the others, Lucern got involved trying to keep the piece,As their big brother, but that is what he does. ( it woud have been funny to see Thomas lay into Bastien for what he did!) But Inez did and thats enough! Plus, Bastien more than made up for it. I think I liked him in this book, almost as much as I liked Thomas. I would have liked to have Vincent more involved though.Even, with all the critiques; It is still tied for #1 for me I think!

Lynsay,
It was everything I wanted and more for Thomas, YOU DID IT AGAIN!!! KEEP IT UP, counting the days for VI.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

I, too, loved the three way conversations between and then when Etienne joined, too. And when Thomas tried to fool Bastien that he had sat on the remote. My favorite line was "You're in for one h*** of a night."

Thoroughly enjoyed it all, and now can't wait to read Vampire Interrupted for the rest of the story. I have sevaral library books to read before I get to re-read VAF, but I intend to re-read. I've also requested the others from the library so I can re-read all of them (my sister has my copies).

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

Inez left Thomas because she didn't want him to get in trouble for his actions with the 3 British lager louts.

If she didn't continue then Herb would get suspicious and probably alert someone.

Remember she doesn't know much about how laws and such work in the immortal world, she just knows that it's probably very bad that Thomas flashed his fangs and ran at super speed whilst holding an adult woman under his arm.

She simply acted with what information she had.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

Regarding my feelings on Inez leaving Thomas after his injury:

I guess my concern is that we (the readers) all know how well a vampire can heal from an injury but she has no experience whatsoever. He lost so much blood and though she did notice that the wound slowly stopped bleeding, I think it would still be very hard for her to leave him. Perhaps if she had been able to feed him a bag or two of blood while he was unconcious I would have found it more believable. She could have turned his head to one side and the smell of his blood (which would have been on her hands and clothing most likely) could have caused his fangs to come out. She had already noticed before the healthy pink of his skin after feeding on her and the unnatural pallor that happened when he went too long without. If after feeding him his skin color improved then she could have left him without my shaking my head in disapproval.

This is the only thing that I can find to criticize in the entire book and it's a small one. I reread my favorite parts again last night and they just shine. The dialogue, the reactions, the internal motivations of the characters just are so believable! The characters are not stiff cardboard cutouts, or even too perfect dream-like people. They are real. They make mistakes. They sometimes hurt each others feelings. They are loyal. Lynsay has done such an amazing job with this series and I hope there are many more books in it to look forward to for many years to come.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

Kim, i have started to reread it, but I swear in the beging he explained to her that he heals faster. On the other hand, I see where you might not like how she handled it, but keep in mind to her he was her lifemate, but she thought he was just going through the motions still. She had no idea about how it affects them.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

I really liked the interaction between Bastian and Thomas and Lucern and Thomas, I'm kinda glad all that 'young pup we think your immature' stuff was pushed aside, I actually got teary eyed with the phone call with Thomas and Bastian, it was very awww

Though Lucern better stop dismissing Etienne, he rocks ;D

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

I love that we are more than the happy-go-lucky side of Thomas. Him and Bastien and Lucern have seemed to pass things up.

Don't worry, I have a feeling Etiene is going to step up and prove to them that he isn't just "a young-pup" anymore. Just like Thomas has.

But only time will tell.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

I've been thinking about my reaction to Inez leaving Thomas and I think maybe it's because I just love the character. So while I'm reading the book I'm identifying with Inez and falling in love with Thomas and I (me, not Inez) wouldn't have left him. So at that moment I was thrown out my blissful little escape from reality and was like "Hey! where are you going?" But Inez isn't me so I shouldn't be surprised when she does the unexpected.

Kim

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

It didn't really bother me when she left because she knew he'd heal quickly and wouldn't die if he had the blood available, which she left close enough for him to grab as soon as he woke up.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

I loved the whole book but I have to say my 2 favorite parts were when Thomas was trying to lie to Bastien saying it was the TV instead of Inez yelling at him in Portguese and then Bastien called him on it since he understand Porteguese.

The other part I loved was when Inez was worrying that Thomas was going to get hair burn on his hand because she hadn't shaved in 2 days. That had me cracking up out loud with people looking at me like I lost of mind.

Overall great book

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

Oooo I love reading books all in one go

Sat down and read the whole book only just finished an hour ago.

It was hillarious the Portuguese cussing and the Devil comment. Also the other bits that just sort of fade into the background like the British dude dressed as a prostitute nurse. That was

I thought the Ecstascy part was really good, then when Inez socked Bastien one in the face

I can't wait to read Bastien and Etienne's story now going to go and order Bastien's story when I go to my bookstore I might even be able to pick up Marguerette's story if they've unpacked the new books. (They don't have a storeroom so they just dump all the boxes in front of the register)

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

Acal, Lucern has a story too. It is called Single White Vampire. It comes before Bastien's story. It is hysterical. It was my favorite until VI came out. Now it is bumped to number 2 but still good.

Re: Vampires are Forever Discussion (SPOILERS!!)

Yeah I got that one on order I have Lucern and Etienne's story on order now, I'm going to order all the rest of them when I go back next Hoping to pick up Margurette's story then too they should have it out on the shelf if its been unpacked
