Re: About Vampire Interrupted

Yep, Kim...major spoiler! I agree that somebody messed up.

Also, my dh says the name "Grinder" for that type of sandwich came from shipyard workers in Maine...something to do with the type work they did, and they ordered grinder sandwiches for their lunch. That is why it is regional to New England.

He also said the "Submarine Sandwiches" or "Subs" as we all call them now got their name from shipyard workers building submarines, who ordered them for lunch. I always thought it was the shape of the sandwich...you know, how the bread is shaped.

In New Orleans, "Po' Boys" were sandwiches made up for poor people...often from what was leftover from the restaurant cooked food for that day. I don't know in what time period this happened...I would have to look it up. But that is how it got it's name, and the name has stuck to this day.

Have no idea about hoagies? Funny, so many names for the same kinds of sandwiches.

Oh, one more thing...dh was in the navy. He said a "grinder" was also a tarmac for marching on, especially drills during boot camp or parades. They were told to head out to the grinder. Since you were in the army, thought you would enjoy that tidbit of trivia.

Oh, dh couldn't get "bubbler." Just had to give him the answer on that one.

My hubby says the same thing. He also was in the Navy.
It is interesting I am a Army brat and married to a sailor.

Talk about your clashing of services.

Re: About Vampire Interrupted

Ditto, here. I would have been fine with the H/H names, but putting that spoiler under it was a letdown. But I'm still going to devour the book when I finally get it. I think I'm going to plan to lock myself in my room and tell the kids and dh that they are on their own for the day.

Re: About Vampire Interrupted
