Vampire babies

Lynsay,

Are we going to see any vampire babies and any problems that come with raising them in the series? Or would that entail too much research and background planning? I suppose it would detract from the romance aspect but I bet it could add to the humor!

I can't remember what has been mentioned before during the books about vampire childhood or youth. Is there anything and I'm just forgetting? Anyone out there, feel free to refresh my memory!

Are vampire babies born with teeth? Or do they receive nanos through their mother's milk? Do vampires nurse their young? That could become quite painful! My middle son went through a phase where if he became too excited while playing, he would bite. Can't you just imagine some of the Argeneau hunks dealing with rambunctious toddlers who are still learning the boundaries? I'd love for Lynsay to write a scene in which Lucian is loaded down with diaper bags and other assorted baby gear!

We do know that Lissianna & Greg had a daughter at the end of Bite Me If You Can. I do not believe that the baby had teeth or else I am sure Lucian would have said something. He has that warped sense of humor. But that is a very good question. Can you just picture him with the bandanna over his nose and rubber gloves on changing diapers?SmileyCentral.com

Re: Vampire babies

Kim,

(***SPOILER ALERT*** Check out Lily's story in ABTR)

I do know that vampire children have to eat food so that they grow up with the proper muscle mass & physical & mental development. If they are not fed properly, and trained in their skills as they grow up, their development will be stunted and they will be limited in their abilities to survive. They must be into adulthood before they can survive just on blood.

(***SPOILER ALERT*** You may find some answers in AQB & BMIYC)

I think the babies are born with the nanos, passed from their mothers to them before birth. I don't think their fangs come in until later, maybe in the teen years. They have to be taught how to hunt in case of emergencies, and trained in their other immortal skills just like new turns, if I remember correctly. A Quick Bite has Aunt Martines twin daughters, who are still teenagers, and they are typical teens who need food and like to eat a lot of junk. Also, in Bite Me If You Can, Lucien says to Lissi that she might produce "sour milk" and she tells him that's an old wives tale. So, it would seem that babies don't have teeth to bite their mothers with, and drink milk like mortal babies.

On one of the other recent threads, Lynsay explains some about baby immortals. I'll have to look to find it!

As for babies, the nanos don't attack the babies, but the gals do need more blood and do have strange cravings. Can you see blood mixed with marachino cherry juice and poured over rocky road ice cream? EWWWWW.

The babies are born with the nanos in their system, fighting disease and ailments from conception. Aging itself isn't seen as something that needs repairing until the age when it begins to cause wrinkles and wear and tear on the organs. But the nanos stay alive because they are fighting environmental damage. Live close to electrical wires? Radioactive crap in your ground or water? Added hormones in your meat or dairy products? Pollution in your air? They fight that and remain alive until 25 or 30 when age becomes a factor and then they are busy busy.

Hope that answers the questions

Lynsay, back to work now

your welcome Vicky

Re: Vampire babies

Thanks guys! I thought there were a few bits here and there in the books but I don't own most of them yet so I couldn't check easily. I borrowed some of them from the library but when I went to check them out again, they have been unavailable. My name's on the waiting list I suppose but I'm tired of waiting so I might splurge and buy my own copies. Plus I loaned my mother my copy of "Love Bites" when she was here visiting from Connecticut. (I'm trying to "turn" her!) So all I have is the last 3. It was my 13th anniversary yesterday so I believe I will buy myself a gift. My husband can get the new computer game he was talking about and we'll both be happy.

Brrrr! It's cold here (Racine, Wisconsin) right now! We've had highs of 6-8 degrees (not counting the wind chill factor) for the last week. Today is supposed to get up to 22 degrees. It's a heat wave! Do you know what would really warm me up? Lynsay's new book! I can't wait. I have some errands to run today and I know I'll wander over to the book section in every store just to see if someone goofed and put them out early by mistake.

Kim (who is wearing a thick sweater and is still cold!)

Re: Vampire babies

Kim, I will never again complain about freezing to death when the the weather drops to 65 degrees!!(jupiter, florida)

Re: Vampire babies

Gena,

We had a high of 28 today! It's kind of strange when you walk outside and think "Mmm, this feels nice." You become so used to the icy wind in your face that it really does feel warm in comparison. Tomorrow it is supposed to be above freezing. Yah!
