This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discussio

Of Lynsay's published historicals...again the rule is choose only TWO!!

My first choice...
The Brat...cannot read it without until tears are rolling down my face!

and second would have to be Love Is Blind ...but it was hard to make that #2 choice. A couple of others wanted to pop their pages up and say "Pick me, Pick me!"

Your turn... wren

I need Lindsay back to make better rhymes in the titles...but if you caught them in either the Argeneaus or the historicals, take a bonus 10 points each!

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

Okay, where is Jacquie and our other historical readers? I know you gals are out there!

My sister, Terri, is living with us for awhile, and she loves historicals so I plan to get her started and on the board. She had never seen a forum that plays "games" while we wait for our latest crossword, contest, and most importantly, new books. She has only read Tall, Dark, & Hungry because, why else...the heroine is named Terri. Actually, my sister is a lot like Bastien's Terri, being very playful, witty, and darting from one thing to another when she shops except she is very petite like a pixie (think Tink) We will introduce her later! I'm also trying to get my niece, Heather, to read the Argeneaus. She is into vamps (think Dracula...she obviously is not aware yet of the inspiration for that fictional book ) and Frankenstein, and scary movies, and all those things her sweet aunt nee-nee is terrified to read or watch. I tried to read Frankenstein once...it was scary & sad. Not my cup of tea at all! She is a great writer herself, and was writing vampire stories since she was 6yo. They all ended rather tragically, until my sister said "Please write me one happy ending." So, she applied herself, and stomped back in the room and said, "Here is your happy ending." As she is 19yo now, she probably won't appreciate me sharing her adorable childhood stories!! That's the trouble with having two doting aunts...and she was the only grandchild on my side for five years, so we have lots of memories. heehee

Okay, some of you historical fans need to come out of lurkdom! Can't discuss books by myself...well, I could but they might put me in the loony bin. BTDT, not needed again!

wren...who is all by herself on this thread

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

Wren your not alone! My favorite is The Switch it was such a fun story line and it kept me laughing, plus it was the first book I had read by Lynsay so maybe that is part of the reason it is special to me.
It is so hard to choose another so I will just name one but I really like them all. The Chase, and she did indeed lead him on a chase. I love reading about strong Scottish people, maybe because I am of Scottish decent who knows. But there you have my 2 picks

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

Hey, Jodi, I'm of Scottish descent too, along with a little Irish with some mix of Cherokee from my Dad's grandmother. I love the Scottish books!

Thanks for popping in...now maybe some of the other historical fans will think about it.

Hmmm...it looks like we are going to have to wait for the next historical to get this discussion going!

We are just all into those hot Argeneaus right now!

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

I've been out of town.

I haven't read all of the historicals, yet, though they are on my tbr shelf. So far, my favorite two are the Brat and The Perfect Wife.

I also just received The Loving Daylights last week and will be reading it soon.

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

Definitely it has to be Love is Blind. When she sets the one gentleman's wig on fire, how everyone is afraid to dance with her or court her.... I was laughing so hard during just the first few pages. Just thinking about it makes me chuckle. Second favorite.... Well, I'll be honest. I can't remember the name! It's the one where the king gets tired of the two people complaining about each other and decides to make them marry and work it out on their own. Was it Bliss? Okay, I went and looked it up. I was actually right and it was Bliss.

Oh, and I want to give an honorable mention to The Deed.

I have to say Love is Blind and Lady Pirate.

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

For me, my fav is tied between three books. The Deed, because it was my first. The Perfect Wife, cause the heroine was just so . . . well, who hasn't tried to lose a ridiculous amount of weight in a short time and doesn't fret about how they look. I had such fun with the whole wedding dress business.

And Always for the funniest consummation scene. I still shake my head over that one. She was just so sure she knew what she was about, and he was just horrified and completely befuddled as to how to approach the matter, and then with the King at the door shouting, I hear TALKING not consummating. LOL. God, I had such fun there. But then I usually have fun with my stories. And there are scenes in everyone that make me chuckle. Sigh. They're all my babies, you know.

Lynsay, really back to work this time

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

I've got to read a few more of the historicals. I forgot about The Reluctant Reformer and The Perfect Wife, and I haven't read a couple of the ones mentioned! I'll have to start over with my post.

I was just reading this thread and I love the book Always. My favorite scene is when she trying to help the horse get better and she brings it into the Great Hall dressed in her and husband's clothes. And then when he orders her to have the horse gone she decides to put it in her bedroom.

My other all time favorite historical is The Switch. That book is funny from beginning to end. You just knew that Charlie was going to get into trouble dressed as boy.

Close 2nds are The Perfect Wife, Love is Blind, and The Chase.

Re: This ? is not rhetorical...Which is your fave hysterical historical? *Possible Spoilers in discu

I haven't read Always but it sounds good. I have been reading a lot of historicals recently but none have the humor like Lynsay's. Some that I am looking forward to reading when I find them are Love is Blind, The Perfect Wife, The Key and The Deed. But then again I want to read all of them
