Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Hey, Mr. Spice, does Lynsay have an official fan club?
If not, can we begin one? I know there are aspiring writers on the forum, but most of us are readers who have Lynsay at the top of their list of favorites. Also, even writers have other authors that they admire and read on a regular basis. What is your opinion?
Also, maybe we need a "name" for ourselves on the forum. I've seen other forums where they have "adopted" an official name for themselves, either associated with a particular series of books or the author's name. I would like going with something to do with sands or spice or something else associated with you two, because many of us read both the paranormals and the hysterical historicals.
How does Lynsay feel about it? Do the two of you have a preference? If so, suggestions anyone?
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
wren, are you talking about the forum as a whole...
there are some I have come across who acutally have 1 per series. I name for the Argenaeus, one for the histoicals, etc.
what is your thought??
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
LOL, okay Connie...maybe we could be Sandies instead...but I don't know that Lynsay would want us to sound like a cookie, either. otoh, I think it's kind of cute. Most definitely NOT The Spice Girls who I think are back on tour...plus, that lets out any male fans who probably don't want to sound like a cookie, either.
Gena, we could have a name for each group, but we have one forum for all Lynsay's stuff. The historicals don't get discussed as often when new Argeneaus are out, but Lynsay has a new historical trilogy out soon. When The Brat came out, we were all talking about it, and it's another of my all-time favorite Lynsay books.
I've seen it done where those who read only one style of an author had various groups for each. I read anything that Lynsay writes...if it has her name on it, I read it! I'm a fan of both historicals and light-hearted paranormals, though. Since we are a close group on here, I wouldn't want to divide us up.
That's why I was thinking one overall name.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
HHHMMMMM!! I only read the Argenaeu's at first, but I reading her others while I wait for the next book....
I usually don't care much for historicals, but lynsy's are just as funny!
I think I might be harder than we think to come up with a name... the only one's i can think of sound like bad tv shows that never get on air! ( SANDIES ANGLES) or even the missing spice girl...(funny spice, sandy spice!)
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Gena, you're hilarious! "bad tv shows that never got on the air or the missing spice girl"
I think we're gonna need a little help from our forum friends with this one. Even if we divide it between the paranormals & the historicals, we need some help from those really creative people here...you know who you are, so come on out and help us!
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I am soooo being bad this morning on here when I should be writing. I swear, I am going back to work very soon. But . . .
Okay, my first thought was lollies, for Love Of Laughter, but the Ladies Of Leisure/Lovespell are called lollies on our list at Dorchester so how about LALlies, for Love And Laughter which is what my books are all about wheter historical or contemp or vamp. That way it can be male or female cause gender doesn't come into it.
Or Rash for Read Alotta Sands Humor, bwahahahaha. Oh sorry. I've obviously lost my mind.
I'll leave the thinking to you guys this morning.
L, heading back to work, but I'll read other entries later (can you tell I'm nearly done? I tend to daudle at the end. Probably cause I hate it ending and having to leave the story behind)
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
ooohh, I like LALlies...what do the rest of you think?
Plus, it keeps us together as one group, regardless of paranormals, historicals, anthologies, or the highlander clan that's a little different that Lynsay writes with Hannah Howell!
We could even have a motto, "Love and Laughter Lynsay style." or something like that.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I think that everyone should stay in one group but that is only my opinion. I haven't had a chance to read any of the Argeneau series yet but reading what everyone is saying about them really makes me want to get my hands on them
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Hey Gena!
My mind can get down in the gutter too, but somehow I just don't want to put RASH & Romance together I can just see us now at a RT conference as Lynsay's RASHes... ...just don't wanna go there, ya know?
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
We could call ourselves the Rashies! As opposed to Rashers .... don't want people to think we're pork products!
I have a friend whose Sri Lankan husband is named Lali, so that one is a little bizarre for me personally. She might think I was a stalker. But I'll go along with whatever the consensus.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Ok you all have the right to slap me for being thick but what would this group entail I love the suggestions for names but dont understand what it would be?
I know yes I am thick but its been a long day at work and my brain is turning to much slowly!
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Does anyone remember the old movie series which were loosely based on Greek mythology? There was The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Clash of the Titans and, most specifically, Jason & the Argonauts.
How about naming the fan club Lynsay and the Argeneauts? Or just the Argeneauts?
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Mr. Spice.....I loved those old claymation movies. The "Argeneauts", would be perfect.
you have my vote!
Wren, between you and me, **warning, i am slowly sinking farther south here*** the way things are going this day and age," RASH and Romance" go together almost to well. But, its dosn't belong in this kind of conference.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I have to admit that I'm for Argeneauts, too. Except does it count for all of Lynsay's books, historicals included. For me it would, and I think most of Lynsay's fans read both, or Lynsay & the Argeneauts would cover it.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Vicky, right now it's just a name for fans that come on this forum, but we could be some kind of official fan club eventually if Lynsay & Dave allowed it. There are other authors who have forums where fans have adopted a nickname.
I like it here because it is safe, password protected, and Lynsay doesn't allow anyone to be mean. People who don't know how to treat others with respect & courtesy will be blocked if necessary. That doesn't mean we can't give our honest opinion on a book or character, and we get feedback from others or Lynsay when she has time.
"Love and Laughter" is the way things go here, and I like how Lynsay, Dave, and anyone who works for her are so in tune to her fans. Besides the forum, there is the website, her blog, and the newsletter, and answering emails, etc. Those kinds of things take a lot of work, and we get the joy from it. So, right now, we are just looking for a name that identifies & unites us as Lynsay's fans!
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I like the Argeneauts.
Though I was also thinking that Sands Of Spice Society would work, too. We could blame our undone work on hitting the SOSS a little too much! LOL And our AA group would be Argeneaus Anonymous. Okay, I've got to go to bed before I get anymore punch drunk. I'm tired.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I like the SASS because it would include all the book and not just one series. Because I for one read all her books and in the process of getting the one's I don't have.(I do have all the Argeneau Books! )
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Just a little bit of info on the JR Ward Message Board and all the members are called Cellies as she is the WARDen which I thought was a clever thing! xx
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Vicky,
I've seen the WARDen & the cellies board, but I'm not a member. This is kind of a similar idea, except we don't want to be divided into smaller groups.
If we go to a conference or book signing that Lynsay is attending, we can identify ourselves as an Argeneaut or a SASS member.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Linda, that's really neat.
As for things like the WARDen?
Ahem! If you follow something like that to it's logical conclusion then I'd probably end up being the Sandman... and I don't think I'm overly fond of that idea.
And, of course, like an idiot I'm going to post this on the forum and make it almost inevitable that it happens.
Dave (who is trying to get the words to the Chordettes song out of his head and replace it with something by Metallica)
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I actually kinda like the Sassy Argeneauts, lol. Although I suppose the guys wouldn't like it as much. Hmmm. Do guys like being called Sassy? I do, but . . . Dave honey, you're a man (I can vouch for that girls-- Oh dear, I didn't just say that did I? LOL) Anyway, what say you?
Lynsay, who really hasn't forgotten about the age thing, but is still working on getting her computer to bloody work. I'm presently on another puter altogether and trying to bring the first back from the brink. Fortunately, I was able to get the story I'm working on off it when it started to act sickly and before it did a complete southern fainting thing. I will harass Terri/Tori the house elf to look into the issue for me so I can get what I need
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Another vote for the SASSY ARGENEAUTS! What's your favorite color, Lynsay, cause I'm thinking T-shirts next! Linda, I also liked your design, but I'm too chicken to get a tattoo.
wren
P.S. But it would be fun to call Mr. Spice "The Sandman." However, he already has a special name, and it's in Sands and Spice Society!
Also, is Terri/Tori - the house elf - one and the same, or am I all mixed up?
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I like the SASSy name I think that would be great and sorry I did not mean to cause any offence my mentioning JR WARD just was showing I understood really!
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Vicky - there's no offence to be had. I think you've just misinterpreted my (British) sense of humour (or humor, if you prefer).
Wren - Yes, Terri and Tori the house elf are one and the same - but please don't tell anyone else. It's a secret... like Clark Kent and Superman, Peter Parker and Spiderman or Colonel Sanders and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Lynsay - I'm sure there are some men who like being called sassy in just the same way as there are some men who can wear pink and get away with it. I don't think either of them suits me particularly well.
Wren, (again) - Now you know which colour (or color) I'm hoping you avoid when thinking about tee shirts.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Vicky, I don't think there is ever a problem mentioning other authors and their work as long as we are not disrespectful. We wouldn't want to give the impression that we bash other authors here. After all, they are Lynsay's colleagues and friends, and she sees many of them at the conferences she attends.
I thought WARDen & cellies was clever, also. And, I had a whole post on the thread where we were designing the council enforcer emblem about the Brotherhood books and their emblem. I'm just not of member of that forum because I don't read the books any longer, and I would rather be here with my beloved Argeneaus and fans who love them like I do! It's just my preference for the light-hearted immortals from Atlantis! So many books means picking and choosing favorites...or the tbr pile would be taller than my house. For me, Lynsay's sense of humour (humor) wins out!
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
But, Dave...PINK is one of my favorite colours. The other is purple, heehee. Are you sure one of those would not fit your style?
I don't think either fits our main purpose, though, unless Lynsay has a preference. Most men will only wear certain shades of pink or purple, usually in a dress shirt only, not a tee. I don't know the percentage of Lynsay's male fans, but I still believe we should be gender neutral. After all, YOU will need to wear the shirt or drink from the coffee mug, etc. LOL I'm beginning to think I should have majored in publishing and marketing, instead of elementary education. We won't mention that to my dad, for he would enjoy being able to grin and say "I told you so." He wanted me to be a business major.
I was thinking more along the lines of a neutral blue.
The Argeneaus have silver-blue eyes, and blue usually looks good on everyone. It also goes well with jeans, in which I prefer to live! If we had a medium or dark blue, we could possibly use Linda's symbol (the letters she used for Argeneauts were really nice) in a silvery colour. Or Denise had some nice bat symbols on the council enforcer thread...we could replace the CE with SA for SASSy Argeneats!
I'm agreeable, we can be SASS because it covers all the books, we can be SASSy Argeneauts because it still cover all books, or we can be Lynsay & the Argeneauts, because that gets her name in our title.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
I'm sure any emblem Avon uses would be copyright. Even if we used an emblem of our design and something like Argeneauts, we will need Lynsay's and possibly Avon's permission for any items we might put it on.
But, I do like the silver/gray on blue tees. And it would be good publicity to promote all of Lynsay's work & the forum. Other ideas, anyone?
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Copyright of any designs used is something to be a little bit wary about. Unless we can establish that a design is definitely copyright free then it's probably better to err on the side of caution and not use it.
The design that Linda suggested looks like a typical example of Celtic artwork that might have been used on a broach, or something similar, over 1000 years ago and which would make make the design copyright free. But - and here's the catch - the actual drawing of the design may be copyright and that would mean we don't have any right to use it without the owners permission.
We really don't want to find ourselves in a situation with someone claiming 'Lynsay Sands stole my design' so we do need to tread carefully when looking for any source material for tee shirts, mugs, etc.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Thanks, Mr. Spice!
I knew when we started talking official designs & names we would have to be careful about the legal stuff. We don't want to bash other authors, and we don't want to steal designs. But it would be fun if we could make it a reality, with designs and names that would belong to Lynsay & Spice & used by her fan club.
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Wren....you know me way to well, I am so a tee-shirt and jeans kind of girl. Blue is so my fav color.( but in this case I will make an exception!)I so like the silver/grey for their eyes.
Mr.Spice, I lived in England, and I have to agree (even though I have never met you) most English men wouldn't look good in pink. {no offence}
However, If we did make the tee-shirts pink, and you know you would have to wear one,
instead of the SANDMAN, we could give you a nickname....SANDY_SPICE!!
G. , who's wierd sence of humor is starting to show again!!
Re: Mr. Spice...Official Fan Club...and maybe the Fab Forum Friends need a name!
Pink? You do realise that I've lived in Canada for a full two years now and I'm becoming so 'Canadianised' (or ...ized) I'm starting to think there is only one colour suitable for a man to wear...
