Is anyone else in the dog house??

Is anyone else in the dog house? My husband laughs at me and actually has tried to hide all of Lynsays' books!

My husband hates it when a new book comes out. I have them on hold, I to have them the first day, and don't put them down until I am done!! To make it worse I reread them over again in order in the intrum....

I have tried to get my husband to read them, but he wont ( SORRY LYNSAY!! ),I am trying. I haven't givin up hope.

The last two that I read he was giving me funny looks and asking questions when I would burst out laughing.

Does anyone else have this problem????

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Well, my dh does say that I always read straight through the books, even staying up all night to do it!

Lately, though, he says I need to put a limit on my computer time. Seems between reading books & posting on my favorite sites, that puts me in the dog house.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Perhaps you should tell your husbands they ought be glad they're married to readers and not to a writer.

I don't think they'd be too happy if they were abandoned for weeks on end when you were locked in the office writing and the only contact they had was when they were pushing your meals under the door.

And you've no idea how difficult it is to keep coming up with meal ideas that will fit in the 1/2 inch gap between the door and the floor.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

u sound like you have expierence in that department!!

with the amount of time i do spend on the computer for school papers, i might as well be writer!!

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

My husband ask what is so funny when I laugh. I tell him and he laughs also. He doesn't read them but, has no problem with me. When I am reading straight though he will wake up and asks how far I am. Or he wakes up just as I have finished. He'll ask was it good? The says was a dumb question. He also keeps asking when the next book is coming out. I have the next two order and reserved. Can't wait. I will be going to California Saturday. Hubby has a business conference there and I get to see the sites. First time there for me. Will have limited access to the computer, but will check in when I can.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Thanks Gena. Going to San Francisco. Staying in a hotel at the entrance of Chinatown. Then seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. Will have my trusty camera on hand.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

My Boyfriend gets testy when I read too. I laugh out loud, he finds that really wierd, and he has to call my name afew times if he wants something cause I am so into the book that I don't hear him. Drives him mad...lol.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Tiarra, that sounds just like me!

I laugh out loud and he just gives me the craziest looks. There'sbeen a few times I finally get some quiet time (its hard to find with 3 kids) and I will start reading with a few hours to go before he comes home fom work, and I will still be reading wih no dinner started or anything. We have the same problem, if he isn't right in front of me when he tries to talk to me, I have no idea what he is saying.

He is learning though,he starting to do dinners for me when a new book comes out. I guess he figures, the faster I can read it, the faster everything gets back to normal.

When I told him that 3 books are coming out 3 months in a row, he just rolled his eyes and said, " thanks for the heads up! I wont try to talk to you abot anything important until April." He is such a smart aleck, its one of the things I love about him.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

I have same problem but I've been told I can't buy any more books, but i still do. My husband looks at me and says "What" when I laugh and try to tell him and again he says "oh the book" and rolls his eyes. But he normaly leaves me alone when I'm reading the the kid just stand there and wait till I look up. But I have a good job were I can read there and normally I finish a book either there or when I get home at 1 am and go to bed about 4 am or later.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Same here, girls, but my sweetheart still ordered the first book for me for Christmas and gave me a $50 gift card to the bookstore to get all of them. The bookstore lady (who I've become friends with) had a hard time keeping it a secret when I was in there shopping for my sons. He indulges me, even though he says I spend way too much time at the bookstore!

The other thing is my posting on this forum. When we were choosing actors for characters, he thought we were just a little loopy...but he joined in the fun when I would describe a character to him. He just knows when I get the book, I'm going to read straight through, then read it again all week to savour it!
He did suggest a nine p.m. cut-off of computer time though. Probably won't happen. LOL

I've preordered the next two books. And I delivered my sister her copy of The Accidental Vampire today. She was estatic! I know what she will be doing while here children are at school tomorrow! And it won't include any household tasks.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

my husband paid my manager to lock my book in the safe, its under a time lock and he kept it all weekend!

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

well if I could I would get it for you!!

My husband hasn't paid anyone yet, but he does threaten to hide them, I have to keep them with me everywhere I go, or when I go back to get it, its gone. (he blames the kids, but them I find them on top of the fridge or some place where I know they can't reach!)

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Mr. Spice, I'm guessing that you must feed her a lot of pizza because that would be the easiest thing to slip under the door!

I'm much better than I used to be when it comes to being lost in a book. I do now answer people when they talk to me while I'm reading. I just don't remember what they or I said!

I try to confine my reading to the hours in which my oldest two kids (Abigail, 7 1/2 and Matthew, almost 6) are at school and the youngest (David, 4) is occupied with his cars or watching T.V. Or until everyone is asleep which is easiest since the kids are in bed by 8:00 and my husband usually by 9:00 (he gets up at 4:30am). The house is mine then and there are no interruptions except to change the laundry from the washer to the dryer if I can remember.(Why don't they have a timer that buzzs for that?)

I used to drive my parents insane by walking home from the library alongside the road (rural area with no sidewalks) with my head buried in a book. They were afraid I would wander into the road and get hit by a car! Once my dad happened to drive up behind me and he said he followed me for about a minute before he honked the horn. I nearly wet myself! My feet actually left the ground! Of course my dad laughed himself silly and still derives quite a bit of joy from it to this day. Of course he loved telling my husband about it.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

KIM I so understand...I do the same thing, I have to wait until my kids are in school or asleep!

I bash him, but my husband is really good about it. As long as I sit with him on the couch while he watches TV, he dosn't mind If I read, he was just getting a little upset because I would go into the room when he got home and he wanted to spend time. ( I get so caught up,when I get a new one, that I don't even realise I start to neglect things/ him)

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

hubby in the air so I can be on whenever and as long as I wish. Even when he is home he does not mind.
The only problem is the cat...SmileyCentral.comSo...1 ofP3 could say she is in the cat house..SmileyCentral.com
She walks on the keyboard and headbutts when I try to type or read.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

just reading thru this post and it is nice to know that my husband itsn't the only one who has a hard time with my reading. My husband goes away for 2 weeks at a time and when he comes home he wants all my attention. He has said that he will throw all my books away but he wouldn't actually do it. I usually buy most of my books when he is away so as not to have to deal with the rolling of the eyes or any comments from him and that is also why I am careful about how much I spend on books. I usually read when the kids are occupied, I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, and when they go to bed.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Well Mr. Spice if I ever find my life mate I will know what he will be going through so I remember to give him extra time when I am done! I read now and it takes my mom a while to get me to literally tare myself away from Lynsays books by brother usually jumps on top of me but it still doesn't stop me from reading. I also write when I can and I hope to get published. I love vampires and werewolves and have fillally got an idea that I can use for the coming about of such myths. After reading Lynsay's Atlantis theory I loved it so much but I was so enviouse because I couldn't use something like that. I always hated copying and all the aspects of my book finally is perfect! Oh I can't wait and I hope my books become favorites among everyone here

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

Gabrielle,

Make sure your lifemate is also a reader and you should have no problem! Then you know that he will totally relate to you having your nose buried in a book.

My husband reads just as much as I do though we have totally different tastes. He reads presidential biographies, books about history, and of course, his geology course books (very close to a degree in geology). He does read some fiction on occasion, like Harry Potter and he used to read Tom Clancy's earlier novels, but he would never read romances! Just not his thing.

The best thing about our both being readers is that our kids think it is totally normal to be surrounded by books. We've always read to them before naps and at bedtime and it makes it much easier when it comes time to teach them to read because of all the positive feelings they associate with reading. (Cuddling with mom or dad while being carried off to far-away places. ) Our oldest daughter is already an avid reader. She's only 7 and has read the first Harry Potter book, Black Beauty, The Wizard of Oz, and many other books at a higher reading level. She still reads other books at her own grade level with a lot of enjoyment however. A good story is a good story no matter what age level it is written for. Harry Potter for example.

Well, it looks like I'll be doing more shoveling later. I just looked out the window and it's snowing again! I can't wait for spring.

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

I usually do my reading when both DH and DD are sleeping and I tend to go through a book in one night so they don't mind.

I'm really glad that my daughter loves books as well. She's only 2 but she knows a book store when she sees one. We recenlty went out for dinner one night and the shopping area had a Borders that we frequently go to and ofcourse she tells us that we're going to the bookstore to get a book for Dra Dra (Cassandra).

Re: Is anyone else in the dog house??

alyess....that is so cute....my little one is almost 2 and she does te same...she loves to go to the book store with me. and we go to the library for girls times! while my boys go with their dad...
