Hmm, it would make more sense to you if you read them in order. They are a family, sons or nephews of previous heroes/heroines. And the story does build upon itself somewhat. A group is forming and organizing to destroy them.

But I'm a stickler for reading things in order and will hold on to 4 or 5 books just waiting to read them because I still need the first one. Maybe someone else can have a more objective opinion.

Try to read them in order if you can. They do build on each other a bit, and if Hannah and Lynsay continue the series, you will want them all to enjoy in order.

I wouldn't wait if I didn't have them all. I started with Single White Vampire in the Argeneau series, and I didn't have a hard time finding the others and catching up. The highland series will work the same way if you can't read them all in order. You will just pick up on things you missed when you do!

as for the symbol, I like the idea of the icon like from the blood banks, but you have to remember, the blood bank is fairly new, in the grand sceme of things!! If you remember, I think it was Victor who diappeared and didn't want to have anything to do with counsil or family, and Lucian only came to Lissianna when they thought their was a problem with her and Greg(I hope I have this right!Some just aren't around untill called upon, maybe the symbol is something newer,( a tatto,or a weapon they carry for ceremony only) and the leaders and the older leaders don't have it yet. Which makes a reason as to why they don't need it on their covers.

as for the symbol, maybe instead of a medallian, it could be a ceremonial weapon or a tattoo even, something to symbolise the unity and power of the counsil. It got issued to newer members, or it could even be something started by a small group of members/friends. That way if the older members and leaders wish to have it they can have it, but it dosn't have to be something to warrent changing the other books covers.

Off the topic...are we going to hear from Vincent soon?? And has Bastien really changed, or was he just love struck at first is back to working nonstop.
