???Mr.& Mrs. Spice...about upcoming Argeneau paperbacks

Hi,

I just purchased Highland Thirst, and it was published in the larger paperback book that seems to be growing more popular with the publishers. I just noticed that it is a Kensington book, and I know the Argeneau series is published by Avon. Will the three new books be published in regular paperback size? I know the larger paperbacks and hardbacks are nice to have, but my book budget doesn't allow for those. My husband is fairly indulgent with me and our two sons about buying books (and so many of the children's and teen's books are coming out in hardback now), and he enjoys seeing us reading, but our pleasure reading budget has to be kept within reason.

For me, when a book comes out in hardcover or the large paperbacks, I usually have to wait a year or reserve it from the library, if they get it. I live in a small city, so our library is not large, although I can request a book through inter-library loan. But what the publishers may not realize is that if I get it through the library, I usually don't buy it (except for authors like Lynsay whose books I collect to keep.) By the time I've waited a year for the paperback, there are already other new books being published that I'm hoping to purchase. I guess it kind of goes around in a circle, if you see what I mean.

I know it is an honor for authors to have their books published in hardcover or these new large paperbacks, but it does cause their fans to have to make choices.
I also know that authors only make a small amount from each book that is purchased. It was worth it to me to buy Highland Thirst, although it cost almost as much as two regular paperbacks. I chose to put two books back by other authors, but I'll catch the hardcover through the library and the other I may be able to get another time. Both were by very popular authors. Once I've read the hardcover book, I won't buy it in paperback. Life is all about choices, after all. Just hoping my precious Argeneaus stay in my preferred paperbacks

The new promotional poster looks great! I'm glad to see Lynsay getting the publicity. I'll be looking for it at our local bookstore.

Re: ???Mr.& Mrs. Spice...about upcoming Argeneau paperbacks

Hi Renee,

Thanks for your post. Kensington, as far as I'm aware, have always published the Lynsay/Hannah Howell anthologies in the large sized paperback. I'm not sure why they do this, unless it is simply that they can charge more for this size of book than they do for the regular size.

The three new Argeneau series books will be published in the regular paperback size just as all the previous ones have been.

There seems to be a confusing number of formats for some of the books, hardcovers, large paperbacks, regular paperbacks, large print and all of the various foreign language editions. We're trying to get a comprehensive list of exactly what books are available in the various formats, although Lynsay's books are always available as paperbacks from day one.

The list so far is just over 60 items where we have copies or at least a picture of the cover, with another ten or so which we know exist but haven't been able to find any illustrations. If you want to have a look they're at http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=lynsay_sands

Hope this clears things up a bit.

Re: ???Mr.& Mrs. Spice...about upcoming Argeneau paperbacks

Dave,

I must have picked up the first Lynsay/Hannah anthologies when they released them in the regular paperback size. I've been trying to get Lynsay's books that aren't part of the Argeneau series ever since I discovered her through her famous "immortals." It's fun that she can write such a variety of books and they are all so good.

I would say I'm not complaining about all the different formats the publishers put out now, but...I really was whining about it. As long as Lynsay keeps writing, I'll keep buying her books, no matter how they are released. I would actually love to have hardcovers, but in this season of life it's just not possible. And the large type books are great, as, alas, another of my latest purchases has been "reading glasses." I did treat myself to really pretty pink frames, rationalizing that if I didn't wear the glasses I would not be able to see the print in all the lovely books I had to read!

Thanks for replying so fast.
