Historical Lovers!!!

Hi there,

If any of you like reading historicals then I recommend you read Candace Robb's Owen Archers mysteries they are very good, not necessarily romantic but very good! They are set in medieval York its brilliant, especially if you know York well like me!

I am not being unloyal to lyndsay - I pledge alegence to Lynsay and all her books - SEE!!!

Re: Historical Lovers!!!

I shall have to give them a try. York is gorgeous! I loved York. It's like stepping back in time, medieval buildings, narrow cobbled streets for walking only, no cars in the heart of it except to make deliveries...

I might even have been convinced to stay in England if we'd lived in York. No, I'd still have missed my family. While I don't get to see them much even now what with how busy I've been, at least they're close by.

Re: Historical Lovers!!!

Thanks for the info Vicky. We lived in England in the 70's...we were in East Anglia...talk about stepping off in time:) I loved Framlingham..there was one street that always reminded me of the rhyme..."There was a crooked man and he walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse.
And they all lived together in a little crooked house"

The street was crooked and all of the houses were off tilt...most door bottoms were lower than the sidewalk. From what I understood were this street was very old and the houses settled quite a bit.
We lived in a small village(One postOffice...store...one pub...We had the Co-op truck come by twice a week. The house we lived in was a two year old cottage..semi detached. It was really an experience.

Re: Historical Lovers!!!

Sounds like my kind of house then. I love houses with character!

Re: Historical Lovers!!!

I love houses with character too. It sounds like a charming village, Jacquie.
