Do you listen to your characters?

Hey Lynsay I was wondering this may sound crazy or it may not it just depending on you. Okay I was wondering do you listen your characters on how they should be like? Or do you write their story without seeing it through the character's eye? I'm sorry if this sounds out of the oridary.

Re: Do you listen to your characters?

It dooesn't sound out of the ordinary at all, LaShawna, it sounds like you're a writer or should be.

Sorry it's taken me so long to answer, the closer it gets to Christmas the more I seem to be rushing around.

To answer your question, usually it's the characters that do the walking and talking and I just write it down. I might start the story smugly thinking that I'm writing it, and I plan for the characters to do this and this and that...But if they're good characters, they're like people and just start doing whatever the heck they want and I charge along after them, scribbling it all down. Actually, if the characters don't take over and ignore me and do what they want, I find writing the book a struggle. If that makes any sense

Thanks and I understand about you not getting back with me so soon, the holidays are a rush I know how that can be. Yes it makes perfect sense.
