I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I keep all of mine and just get more bookshelves. I will loan only to a good friend one of my books so she can see how she likes it and then I tell her where she can find the rest. I hate people turning down pages. Drives me up a wall. If I loan a book out and it comes back in bad condition I never loan another one to that person. I love bookmarks and got many for Christmas from a friend of mine.

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I keep most of mine -- if I enjoyed it, I can't bear to part with it because I may want to read it again. I hate it when I lend a book to someone & never get it back. I've lost 2 copies of The Mists of Avalon that way.

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I keep ones from my favorite authors and books that I really like.

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I have a large walk in closet with four big bookshelves double deep in books. I need more book cases...guess they will be going into the guest room or maybe my computer room. I try to keep the Authors in Alphabetical order but when I get new books I have to re-adjust everything...I need a Librarian

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

Impressive! Mine are all in boxes here & there, wishing they had nice big bookshelves to live on.

I need a bigger house...

I keep them in a chest in my room which is full to the limit so I need to get a new one for all Lynsay's new books

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I used to keep all of mine. I had over 1000 hardcovers by my favorite authors but sadly the tornado ate 90% of them. Happily I now have a TBR pile of 300 + books. LOL I'll never finish them all. The thing I was most upset about was losing all of Lynsays books. It took me forever to get a hold of them all to begin with and then for them to be lost like that just killed me. I'm on the waiting list for them at my paperback swap club but it will be forever before I get them all again.

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I need to update my closet/library:) The other day I went to hang some clothes up in my closet ...went into the living room to read a book and heard a big crash...went into my bedroom , and peeked into the closet...the rack had fallen...everything that was stacked on top it were on the floor along with hangers and clothes. So the next day hubby and I went into town to buy stuff to update my closet. No more of that yucky wire type shelves...I hate those things. So we bought a wooden type. The best part is there are three units, that are for storage and have holes for extra shelving...so guess what I am using them for...that's right more BookCases...LOL. I guess when I fill them up I will have to start on my computer room:)

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I bought two 6 foot bookcases thinking that would be enough. It's not I have a little more than half of my books on the shelves and need another bookcase. But would I ever think of getting rid of my books? Never! I love and reread all the books I have and every month I add new ones. I have a 4 foot bookcase but it doesn't hold enough either.

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

Depends on the author, if its a series and how much I love it.

I would like to say I keep Lynsay sands vampire books but they (sob) were lent to me....

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

Hi
I Keep all my books. Except last year I moved and I had to donate some of them, which were most of my Harlequin Romance. But I did keep my thicker romance novels.
I had about a thousand books, now I have seven hundred or more and adding to the number. I love reading books over and over I have read all of my books at least twice, and some even more so...lol.

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

Ah, I dont even bother to walk into a library anymore, I like to have a copy of every book i read.
My friend Jamie always turns down pages so anytime I lend her a book I sugguest a bookmark but... I dunno, I hate to deprive her of reading just because I get annoyed by that. lol
Favorite story of loosing a book~
I lent my copy of Pandora by Anne Rice (favorite anne rice story) to my....,well not so much friend but a girl in school I talked to, Heather. She lost the bloody book and when i kept asking her to replace it she said she would and never did. Then after I moved I asked Diana if she could ask heather about the book again for me ad Diana replied that Heather "Bought another copy of the book but lost it again so I needed to shut up about it because it was my fault the book was gone."
make any sense?
i haven't gotten hold of the logic in that idea just yet...

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I can't bear to throw any of them away, even though I have over 200. But so the place doesn't get cluttered I keep some of them hidden in my closet, and my favorite ones are book cases in the livin-room where they can be admired lol.

Re: I was wondering how many keep all their books?

I keep all mine because while I'm waiting between series (new books I mean), I like to reread the old ones. And, I also like to get my friends to read them.
