a question for Lynsay

^_^ care to explain further on this inspirational Joe Manuel?

Re: a question for Lynsay

im loving this scene with Valoree saying one wrong thing after another. t's odd though, i actually lost track of what page i was on. kept reading from page 40 and thought i was probably just on 43, i look, and im at 47 *rubs head* maybe im loosing it like my dad ...

Re: a question for Lynsay

Okay, Crice, I guess I'm losing it too, cause you have to explain the reference to Joe Manuel. Is it mentioned in Lady Pirate? Have I mentioned it here? Am I going to be embarrassed that I haven't a clue what you're talking about?

Lynsay, a little lost

Re: a question for Lynsay

lol so sorry. you mentioned this person as the sourse of inspiration in your dedication.

Re: a question for Lynsay

OH!!! LOL. Joe. LOL. Now I do feel like an idiot, lol. Well, actually, until I asked for his last name for the dedication I only knew him as Joe. You see I used to write at home until about 4 in the afternoon, then go to check mail downtown and have coffee and write in a restaurant called the Mascot. The owners, Peter and his wife, were real sweethearts about me writing in there (they're in the dedication too).

And Joe, a businessman downtown and a friend of Peter's used to come in all the time and he'd ask how the writing was going and we'd all chat. Well, when he found out I was writing a pirate story, he came in the next day wearing a costume pirate's hat and carrying plastic pirate's swords and said it was for inspiration, lol. He gave them to me when he left, (In fact, I still have them) so of course, I had to mention him in the dedication for the inspiration. LOL. Gosh, I'd forgotten all about that. It's been years since I wrote Lady Pirate, and I haven't seen any of them since leaving London...sigh. Wow, time flies.

Re: a question for Lynsay

that's so neat. so far the only inspirational friend i have is ashley and its just because she makes me read to her one of my books all along the way of it. i recently printed a copy up to chapter 6 for her and made a drawing for each chapter and she keeps telling me how much she loves being able to read it over. anyhow, i finished Lady Pirate and it was great. when i went to a bookstore with this sort of meeting between me and my friend Zack (whom i cant see much because he lives in Texas) i found it and couldn't help but get it. It ad is in almost every one of your books i already have and though i hadn't planned on reading it before, after awile of seeing it was too tempting. over all rating: ~loving to laugh~

Re: a question for Lynsay

^_^ i dunno im not cut out for living in central america. east coast was much better on my health i cant stand the wide horizon and miles of nothing. i want trees TT_TT

Re: a question for Lynsay

Circe - Two words, East Texas! It's not called the "pinnie woods" for nothin'! Get tired of that, go west to the hill country, my fav. spot. Go farther west, and head south to the Mexico border you have Big Bend Nat'l Park.

And for the supernatural, there's the Marfa Lights (sadly I didn't see them when we were there), and countless other places.

Re: a question for Lynsay

LOL...I live in Arizona and one reason we bought 4.5 acres to live on is the wide open spaces....of course we have beautiful mountains surrounding us. My hubby was in the AF for thirty years and we have been stationed on the Southeast coast, VA....The Gulf Coast(FL)....Far Northwest(AK.. ) Not to mention England) We have traveled through Texas...well I do like the East part of Texas...but really two days to get through a state...boring..especially after you leave the East part I have been to Washington State(born there) Washington DC...visited there...NC..SC..Georgia..fled there during a Hurricane...Tennessee..WV...Arkansas...Lousiana...Wyoming...Colorado...NM...Nevada...Montana. Oh Yeh...BC...Alberta..Canada...and France.
And still get excited when we get to Az
Isn't it wonderful that we have a country that can offer us the landscape we choose When we traveled back to NC for Christmas ....my husband constantly complained about the trees and not to be able to see anything but trees...

Re: a question for Lynsay

Trees are the one thing I'm missing over here. We live in town center and all there is is pavement everywhere except for by the church. In southern Ontario there were trees and grass everywhere, even downtown.

And you're right, there is a lot of variety in North America. Something for everyone's tastes.

Re: a question for Lynsay

We lived in Badingham...Suffolk County, East Anglia it was beautiful countryside...it even had hills. There were some very tall pine trees in some areas. My youngest was born in England:)
When we were in Florida we had big pines all around us....in fact I used to be the PX lady at the Army Ranger training camp...it was like thirty miles deep in the woods...pretty scary to drive after dark. We missed the Mountains allot.
