What Are Your Reading?

What are you reading right now and what do you plan to read next?

I ordered a bunch of Lynsay's books and while waiting for them to arrive I purchased The Chase, which I am almost done.

Since I just figured out that The Key is about the same family (yes I'm a little slow on the uptake ) I will be reading it next

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I'm still writing and don't get to read at the moment...sniff, sniff, pathetic sniff

Lynsay

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Oh Poor Lynsay....(Patting your back) But if you didn't write we would be sooo unhappy:)
Sheri,
At the moment I am reading Claire Delacroix's 2nd book of her Bride Series...it is called "The Rose Red Bride The first one was "The Beauty Bride"
it's pretty good. My next book is the new one by Amanda Quick "Lie By Midnight" I'm glad she has finally stopped writing about Tobias March and Lavinia Lake ..I just couldn't get into those books. I like her older books the best. I have been reading Catherine Coulters FBI Series...now don't pass out I know they are not Historicals but they are pretty good

Re: What Are Your Reading?

(((((hugs)))))) Poor Lynsay

Well I finished The Key this weekend while camping, hmmmm which one to read next???

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Jacquie! I thought you were a die hard historical!! LOL. Actually, I go through periods where the only thing I'll read is historicals, then I go through a horror phase, then... Sigh. Can't wait to get to read again.

Sheri, if you have Always, it's one of my faves. I had so much fun with that story.

Lynsay

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Yup Lynsay, that's one of the ones I have. I'll likely start it tonight, and at the rate I'm going, finish it tomorrow

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Well I still am a die hard historical fan...but hey if my favorite authors aren't writing fast enough ...I gotta read something don't I? My problem is when I get a new book from my favorite Authors I read them in one sitting...and then there are those three or four hours I'm awake in the middle of the night so then I have to read another Don't know if I ever told you but I did love your "The Loving Daylights" book

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Just finished Devil to Pay by Liz Carlyle
Will read Shadow Fall by James Clemens next, followed by Oceans of Fire by Christine Feehan.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I am excited. I just grabbed 'Dead Beat' by Jim Butcher. Yay! I also nabbed two of Lynsay's books: 'Love Bites' & 'Tall, Dark & Hungry' and 'Mind Game' by Christine Feehan.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Just now im Reading Undead And Unwed by Mary Janice Davidson and The Key for the 6th time, i Just love it too much. Can't wait foe the new books to come out!

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Started Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evie by Marianne Stillings this morning before work. It's pretty good so far. A bit of a mystery, a treasure hunt, and some building romance. First book of hers I've read. I'll finish it tonight after I feed the kiddoes and get them occupied. I'm debating between Midnight Embrace by Amanda Ashley and Lover Beware next. Or at least until my order comes in from Books a Million. I ordered Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris, Haunted by Kelley Armstrong, and Dead Beat by Jim Butcher. I can't wait for them to get here. 3 of my top 10 authors. Lynsay you are right up there.

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I just discovered Julia Quinn - so I'm reading her Bridgerton series.

I am waiting most impatiently for Lissiana & Greg's story.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I'm reading Johanna Lindsey's new book.."Marriage Most Scandalous" It's pretty good and promises to get better..I've read 75 pages so far:)

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Well I ended up reading Master of Ecstasy by Nina Bangs. It arrived yesterday in the mail from paperbackswap.com. I got 5 others in as well so I'll have to choose by lottery I suppose. I can't wait for my order to get here. I've got about 10 more pages of Master and it's been pretty good so far. I made a mistake by reading Night Bites first though. A few of the things happening in MoE as major plot points are mentioned in Night Bites. Oh well, it's still good.

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

next, those baby blues by sheridon smythe (again) not sure what i'll read after.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Oh I am so torn. I started Night Games by Nina Bangs last night and am about 3/4 the way through but, my book order came in today and I now have 4 books that I have been waiting to read forever. Oh the agony! I have so little time tonight that it will be tommorrow night before I can even start one of the others. ARGH!!!!

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I'm halfway through The Presence by Heather Graham. It's a good read so far. I don't know what to start next because Chapters has a sale on right now (buy 3 get one free) so I just baught a whole bunch! Of course, The Chase was among them, so I'll most likely dive into it Gotta love book sales

Re: What Are Your Reading?

The Chase is really good! I know because I bought it at Chapters because they were having this buy 3 get 1 free sale ..... and you know the rest

Funny how that works, you can go in to buy one book and see buy 3 get 1 free and suddenly you're just stacking them up. I love buying books it drives my husband nuts because I buy them faster than I read them

Re: What Are Your Reading?

So do I, Sheri!
My hubby looks at me like 'hmmm, shouldn't you read them first and then buy more?' Nope, I like to stock up and then read!! Besides, it gives me a chance to go to Starbucks LOL!

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I finished Night Games by Nina Bangs and I'm about half way through Haunted by Kelley Armstrong. It is good. I think that it's my 3rd favorite of her books.

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I do that too Anne Marie, I like to have a shelf full of unread books available.

Just because I was interested in the book when I bought it doesn't mean that I'm going to be in the mood to read it right then.

I buy books that intrest me and keep them on a specific shelf and then when the mood strikes for a specific type of storyline I will go to the shelf and hunt for the book that best matches what I feel like reading.

Hayley, I've never read anything by Kelly Armstrong but I recently purchased Bitten, it's on my shelf waiting to be read.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Oh, Sheri you must read Bitten soon. It is so good.

I also have a tremendous TBR pile. My husband gave up a long time ago trying to keep me from buying books when I had others to read. I still have books on there that I got for Christmas. Yes, they are some of my favorite authors but I have to be in the right mood to read them. I've been in my paranormal romance phase lately and the sci fi and fantasy books are just going to have to wait.

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

"My husband gave up a long time ago trying to keep me from buying books"
LOL...Mine too...now he is trying to figure out where to put the new book shelves in the Guest room....I keep my favorite authors books...and I have allot of them...My walk-in closet has 4 large book cases full in it...Thank Goodness for walk-in closets. I have one small book case in it...I would have more but can't find any that match my bedroom set. I don't go anywhere without a book stuck in my hand or purse:)

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Sister let me tell you. I have over 1000 hardback books. I have built in bookcases in my office that are full. I have a whole storage room with nothing but 33 gallon rubbermaid containers full of books in it. I rotate them out every 6 months or so and reread them. I am trying to be good and weed through the ones that I have grown tired of rereading but it is so hard to give up an old friend. I used to have trouble getting rid of the paperbacks but I have had to face reality and do something before my obsession takes over the entire house. (we won't even go to the books under the bed and on every endtable) My husband is a musician so we have a compromise. He gets the room off of the garage for all his drums and percussion equipment and I get the storage room and the office. It is a serious addition and I really need to find a local chapter of bookaholics anonymous.

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Sheri!!! Go get Stolen by Kelley Armstrong cause believe me as soon as you finish Bitten you will want to read more about Elena. Also Kelley's website has online short stories that you will want to check out. I am reading Haunted right now. The next one will be Every Which Way But Dead by Kim Harrison She writes a great series also.
Cher

Re: What Are Your Reading?

LOL...I have Hardcovers too...but keep them down. I never get tired of rereading...maybe it's my age and I forget parts of books easier...so its like reading a new book...LOL..I do have some books that I bought forgetting I had it already...I have thought about putting them on Amazon used books to get some of the money back...we have a big used bookstore here but they are really picky about what they take. I have some books that are no longer being printed I try to handle them very carefully when I read them...because I know I may not be able to find it again.
I have artheritic knees so can't do allot so my books and my pool are my saviors from getting to bored....

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I think that the Harrison books are just getting better with each one she writes. I got an ARC of Every Which Way but Dead and it was excellent. i just finished Charlaine Harris' Dead as a Doornail. It was good. I was a bit disappointed in the romance department. I would say more but don't want to ruin it for anyone. It was still good though. I can't wait until the next one in the Southern Vampire series.

Hayley
*reading His Immortal Embrace short story collection.*

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I've only read the first 3 Charlaine Harris' series, but I liked them. I'm trying to read the ones I just picked up before I get anymore (yeah, like that's gonna happen LOL)! I'm trying to finish the 5th Harry Potter before number 6 comes out, but I've got another one or two on the go as well. If I ever reach 1000 hardcovers, we'll have to get another house!!

Re: What Are Your Reading?

That's what my husband keeps saying. I tell him that we would just have to move him into the drum room and let me have the rest of the house. I also tell the kids that when they get older the toyroom is MINE!!! I just finished His Immortal Embrace and it was really quite good. Usually in a collection like this I will like one or two of the stories but this one was good all the way through. I have to say that I really liked Lynsay's Bitten. I am also going to have to pick up something else by the other authors. I've never heard of them before.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Cher I will try to track down Stolen.

I finished Always & just read The Deed today. Now to decide what to read next

My mother in law, bless her heart, sent me a hundred dollars for my birthday, now to decide what to do with it. Hmmmmmm (Sheri quietly eyes her Chapters card)

Re: What Are Your Reading?

working my way through Emma Holly's The Demon's Daughter. Pretty good. my first book by her.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Finished it. It was pretty good. I'm sure I'll pick up some more of Ms. Holly's books. I'm reading My Lord Vampire by Debbie Raleigh right now.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

XD my lord vampire is a good series. that's what had me go looking for more vampire romance stories and thus happening upon the goddess Lynsay. ^____^
i really wish i could get some free time to finish Always though. i tried to finish it tonight and people keep calling me

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I know how you feel, circe! I've been trying to finish Harry Potter all week and it seems that no one wants me to get to it! It's really maddening, isn't it?!

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I'm not sure what's up next since my TBR pile is up to 50 books. I keep staring at not knowing what to do. I want to read them ALL right now.

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Gee Circe, I'm sorry to hear that you lost some of your Lynsay books! That's just nasty On the bright side, I know you're enjoying Lady Pirate. I loved it!!

Hayley, I wish I could read as much as you...my TBR pile would be so much smaller!

Re: What Are Your Reading?

I am reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince right now. It is really good.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

*gasp* it's gonna be much longer than lynsay's next book before i'll be able to get hold of the next harry potter

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Cher, count me in on the Harry Potter lot too

Funny, I read Pheniox in one day and here I am two days on Half Blood Prince and not even done, gasp. I have to make some more time to read!

Re: What Are Your Reading?

HA!! I got to read while on this trip (mostly in the airport, on the plane and a bit late at night in the hotel)and boy did I read! I've read Every Which Way But Dead, Sins of the Night, Eleven on Top, Haunted, The Lily Brand, Harry and the Half Blood, Three John Connolly books, Dean Koontz's Velocity......

Sigh....I still have a ton to go in my tbr pile, but they shall have to wait as now that I'm back I shall be writing again. Actually, I'm excited to have my keyboard back so I can write (don't care for the tiny keyboards on portables), Lucian's been whispering in my ear and giving me ideas

Lynsay

Re: What Are Your Reading?

LOL you too can read as much as me. You just have to get up and hour earlier than everyone else in the family and go to bed and hour later then everyone else. Plus I carry a book with me at all times and read when i'm standing in line, eating lunch at work, cooking etc.
Since the 15th i've read:
Blue Moon by Lori Handeland
Ill Wind by Rachel Caine
Heat Stroke by Rachel Caine
Chill Factor by Rachel Caine
I Hunger for You by Susan Sizemore
and
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

I had my TBR pile down to 35 books but its back up due to www.paperbackswap.com. I am so addicted to that site. If you decided to join list me as your referral and I get 2 credits. LOL i'm such a pimp.

Hayley

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Gad Hayley, I only sleep 4 to 6 hours now as it is, get up any earlier or stay up any later and I'd probably drop dead.

Lynsay, the sleepaphobic

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Man I wish there was a way to edit posts. That should have been "an hour earlier" and "an hour later" See what losing sleep to reading will do to you.

Finished Midnight Pleasures today. I've also been a very bad girl and bought 4 books at Wally world. Like I need anymore books on my TBR pile.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Lets see read a few more books by Hannah Howell still have some more but need a break from her books…
I’ve read Mary Janice Davidson’s new book
Read a few books by Sophie Kinsella.

I am reading shopaholic ties the knot by Sophie Kinsella now then I’ve got two more of her books to read after. Will read faithless by Karin Slaughter in between those.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Lynsay,
I'm one of those people that don't sleep allot too...Well was..I used to go to bed at ten wake up at one in the morning read go back to sleep at three and wake up at five. I am on Vicodine for my arthritis pain and I go to bed at ten wake up at two ..read till four..then go back to sleep until nine or ten...I have never been a late sleeper..sometimes I feel guilty for sleeping so late...but I sure have allot more energy during the day. I only take one vicodine a night..1/2 half at bedtime and the other half when I wake up again. I try not to take it during the day because I hate narcotics.(am allergic to over the counter pain pills) I will take it if I walked to much during the day.

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Hmmm, guess that should have been sleep-phobic not sleepaholic, lol. Guess that'll teach me to post before coffee.

Well, it's apparently better to get the 8 hours of sleep Jacquie, so you keep taking those pills. Especially if they help with the pain, no one should have to suffer. I don't blame you for only taking them at night to sleep though. I'd hate feeling all doped up during the day.

Lynsay

Re: What Are Your Reading?

By the Way the Dr doesn't think the cyst is cancer...he still took a blood test...but as of now he is just going to keep an eye on it...NO Surgery...YEAH!!!

Re: What Are Your Reading?

Just finished `Be Mine Forever by Rosemary Laurey. Quite good. I had waited forever for this to come out. I can't wait for her to write another on in this series. I'm also one short story away from finishing Midnight Pleasures.
