Hello from deadline

Wellllllll, here I've been being a good girl, working away on my Feb 1st deadline, trying to get it done because we were supposed to be going to Scotland for a week in the middle of the month, then Dave came home today with the news that he couldn't get the time off, so the trip has been cancelled...sigh.

Oh well, guess we'll have to go another time. Besides, its not all bad news since I was also informed today that the corrected manuscript and revision letter for Lissianna and Greg's story are on their way to me and should arrive Friday. That would have put me in a real panic if the trip were still on, so I guess fate was looking out for me. I would have felt awful sitting in the hotel working and sending Dave off on his own, lol. Oh well.

So, I'm still working away, but a little less panicked and I'm waiting anxiously for my editor's notes on Lissianna's story. She says she liked it, actually she said it was a "delight" and she "had fun reading it" so that relieves some of my anxiety. I am always sure each book is the worst I've ever written. Sheesh. A writer thing, I guess. I'm learning to live with it.

Which reminds me, I had someone who shall remain nameless (my sister ) who FINALLY sat down to read the Argeneau series over the holidays, comment that they were all great and all funny, but they were (So) different. Love Bites was more action, Tall, Dark and Hungry less so without a threat like the murderous computer geek in Love Bites. Since she commented on it, I thought there might be others out there with the same comment and curiousity about it, and so I shall tell you what I told her. Years ago I read a review of someone else's work that said "Same story, same characters, different names" I knew what the person was talking about. I've come across a writer or two myself where each story seems to be the same characters all the time, just with different names. I try not to do that. I deliberately try to make my heros different men, and their situations different. So, some will be more action packed than others, but I hope you still enjoy them.

Soooooo, guess I should get back to my deadline, but I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday and New Years and are all looking forward to 2005

Re: Hello from deadline

^-^ you're doing fine i see more of similar names now and then but they are all definately differant people. sometimes people just have to think a bit harder and realize that everyone has a hidden story and you cant give it all away or we'd get bored from the details, ne? *shrugs* maybe they just need something to complain about because your stories are so godly hold on now i sound obsessive *rubs head and slowly backs away* i uh didnt mean it like that heh heh ^-^' you're just so... awesome, talented, witty, creative *wacks my head with a mallot and falls over* im done. i'd go on but i'd rather.... stop while im behind

Re: Hello from deadline

LOL. Yes, some of the names will be repeated. You may or may not have noticed the name Margaret (or some version of it) in EVERY novel I write. There is always a Margaret, Marge, Marguerite, Maggie or something like that, whether she's a maid, a mother, etc. That is done deliberately in my mother's honor. Her name was Margaret and she was always supportive of my writing as well as a good friend. Unfortunately, she died before I was published. It's my way of remembering her in every book.

I use other names or versions of them more than once too, but sometimes just because I like the name (shrug)

Re: Hello from deadline

Hi Lynsay,
Sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip...maybe some other time:) I just thought I would pop in and let you know I recieved your autographed book to me...it was here waiting when we got back from our trip ..which was very enjoyable...except for the ride to and from

Re: Hello from deadline

Oh cool! Tish got hers too, so that's both of them. Now I just wish I would get my author copies! Do you know I haven't received MY copies yet? And I used to get them a week before they came out when I lived in Canada. Good thing I gave up waiting on them and went out and bought the two I sent you guys, lol.

Hmmm, maybe I'll email and nag Dorchester about them and see what's up with them.

Re: Hello from deadline

Lynsay, Sorry to hear about the trip. Although I would have been jellous if you had gotten to go. ;) It's wonderful that you remeber and honor your mom in such a way.

jacquie - Okay, I'm jellous. An autographed copy. *sigh* ;)

Re: Hello from deadline

Ooo that's soo awesome

Re: Hello from deadline

Thanks for finding this old post Acal! It was neat to read that Marguerite is named after Lynsay's mother. Hmmm. Do you suppose her mom played matchmaker too?
