WHOOOOO!!!!!

It's up and running and looks great Lynsay. And who says your story in "Eternal Highlander" isn't funny?? It's got it's moments, and it's a wonderful story!

Thanks Theresa! On both counts, lol. I'm very pleased with it and I'm glad you enjoyed The Eternal Highlander.

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

OMG I feel for you girl. Here's hoping this winter will not see me down for 6 months. Just ask Lynsay....Take good care of yourself.

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

Gees Jacquie!!

Pump up on the vitamin C or something. Or maybe get your sugar levels tested, your immune system is suffering and you're suffering with it. Poor thing! Hope you feel better soon.

As for you dragonmyst Ann, I hope you're taking better care of yourself this year! Last year you were sick as a dog!

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

Thanks for your concern everybody. I have Diabetes and for some reason my immune system is pretty crappy this year...and I'm keeping my BG numbers low too I couldn't get the flu shot this year...the elderly went first and since we have mega retired people settling here there wasn't enough serum left for others. So I will be doing my Christmas shopping on line this year

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

Ahhhh, she says nodding her head. I wondered about diabetes. I'm borderline diabetic and my immune system is completely useless sometimes. Although I thought it was only when the numbers were high. Learn something new every day.

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

So far, so good, but then December hasn't hit yet..lol...did not take that dreaded flu shot, going to try natural therapy this year (fingers crossed)
And if anyone gets in my cab that is ill, i wash my hands with that purcell stuff...so let's all get through this winter together...oh..I have just finished the fourth and final draft for my entry of the short short story contest....talk about nervous...now the witing begins...

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

I think if I drove a Cab I would wear a mask and gloves..LOL...of course then your passengers might think you are a robber

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

lmao...good idea...might make more money that way...

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

Lynsay,
Does your Dr check your numbers often? Most diabetics know there is no such thing as a borderline diabetic. Have they ever done a A1C test on you...? Anyways make sure your Dr keeps an eye on your numbers...and watch them Carbs

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

Yes, Jacquie, I've been checked up the wazoo, lol. In Canada, that just refers to controlled by diet, not bad enough yet for meds. I have a blood tester I take everywhere with me, but my friends and family are the best testers. They look at me and can tell if I'm high or low or fine. Low I get slow and stupid. High I get cranky. Apparently there's a color change to my complexion and my face gets greasier when the sugar's high too.

Actually, that's not true anymore because I keep it pretty steady, but at first, when I was still getting the hang of things, I was up and down and they could tell.

Thank you for the worry though Jacquie

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

I don't show any change with a high..except of the thirst and tired thingy. When I am low I get very crabby...my hubby can always tell if I am headed for a low...he will always say Honey do you think it is time for a snack I am on metformin so don't get lows to often except when I forget to eat. One day I had gone into town and had forgot to eat lunch and at five I went to Boston Market to get a chicken dish...I got out of my truck and walked right in front of a car...I was so low I was beyond the thinking point....thank goodness the people were going slow and stopped before they hit me....by the time I got into the restaurant all I could ask the girl at the counter was for her to get me a regular coke I don't miss lunch anymore Unfortunately the bad thing about highs is they don't usually cause to much trouble right now, but if we don't keep them down... we could me in Big trouble in long term I went undiagnosed for years because when they first tested me the cut off numbers were higher then todays...so I walked around with the higher numbers for 15 years before I was diagnosed. So far no complications. My skin is extra dry with diabetes. Take care

Re: Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

Both of my folks have diabetes. Sometimes when Mom goes to sleep and has a low, one of the dogs will bug her until she wakes up! It's like he knows when it gets too low.
I had gestational diabetes for the last 8 or 10 wks of pregnancy. The dietitian told me to eat regular meals, including cereal, but I discovered that any starch would make my sugar soar. I put myself on a diet that included veggies and meat, but no starch (didn't tell the dietitian that!) but my levels were great and my daughter weighed 6lbs 6oz. Woo Hoo! I actually lost weight, so when I had her, I ended up weighing less than I did before I got pregnant

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

I find that kind of diet is best for me too Anne Marie. It's the only way to lose weight for me.

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

I do OK on 150 carbs a day. I stay on metformin because it seems to help keep my appetite down a bit. When I lost a hundred pounds I just watched my portions and counted my carbs....and my BG reading were better then a non-diabetics. I still keep my numbers pretty low. I eat veggies...just make sure that when I eat High carb veggies like corn I only eat like a teaspoon full. I have learned to count on my meter more then anything else. Like I can't eat any amount of rice without spiking big time...but I can eat a small amount of potatoes with no problem...where as another diabetic might be able to eat a bit of rice but no potatoes....it's funny how our bodies react differently

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

I can control it through carb control too. I love potatoes but have to stay away from them. Sigh. I also find that airplane travel tends to send my numbers whacko! It freaks me out a bit every time.

ah well

Re: Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

It's funny how that works, eh? Amazing how your stress level can mess up your bg level...I've even had double vision before flying!
Since we're on the subject, how long is the flight to England, Lynsay? I guess it depends on the route you take...It was 8 hours to Poland. That was long enough!! Then there was the strange man beside me who kept leaning on me....uuuggghhh (g)

Re: WHOOOOO!!!!!

When we flew to England way back in the early 70's We flew out of McQuire AFB and it took 7 hours to fly into whatever base took incoming flights. Sure was a culture shock. I loved my too short visit to England though. After we flew back I gave up flying because my Claustrophobia got worse.
