Keeping Kids Healthy and Safe

Smarties and Pixy Stix are the new gateway drugs. These dangerous substances are now illegal at a middle school in Michigan because kids are “smoking” them. The school principal has noted that “huge amounts” of smarties wrappers are being found on school grounds, and this ban is for the purpose of keeping kids “healthy and safe.”

The Wall Street Journal recently published a piece, “Just Say No…… to Smarties?” which talks about the fad to smoke and snort any candy that can be conveniently crushed.

Others have perfected the art of blowing Smarties smoke rings; some can even exhale through their nose. Children don’t inhale the powder or try to get it into their lungs; they pour it into their mouths and exhale quickly, causing a cloud of fine dust to emerge.

Kids also snort from Kool Aid packets. From a recent Yahoo article on this topic: “Quite possibly the most talked about danger of this type of imitative behavior in teens and children is that it could be a “gateway” to other riskier behavior such as smoking cigarettes or marijuana or snorting drugs like cocaine.” Fox & Friends even talked to the kid your mother warned you about.

The real ban should be public schools. Kids – especially boys – are not being challenged in these collectivist, politically correct, monotonous, feminized, dumbing-down prison camps. These kids – who have grown up with the usual boredom relievers such as video games, shopping malls, phones, and other amusement devices – are bored, uninspired, and passionless, and their creativity is being misdirected toward non-productive and problematic activities. The combination of public schools and the adolescent adults (whose own individualism was stifled by the state’s education camps) who raise them is a no-win situation for some of these kids.
