You have a problem making distinctions

JS,
"I am denying that I bombed 4 little black girls 100 years after lincolns invasion as you have accused me"
No, I can't imagine you as an actor in any case. However your language does act to enable others and that is what you are accused of. That is what you excell at.

"In fact, I am questioning, in the light of what has happened since, that "we" can even be sure WHO is bombing WHO"
Yes that is what you excell at, enabling. Tell me who killed those little girls and blamed it on your noble racists/slaveholders. Was it the CIA, the Yankees, the Martians, etc.

" Lincolns war was NOT about slavery, Lincoln himself said so, Lincoln HIMSELF ENABLED slavery as an attorney before he was elected and well before this incovenient fact was swept under the rug by the various state worshippers intent on canonizing the dictator in order to keep people from questioning his complete trashing of the Declaration and the Constitution."
JS, I saw you palm that card. The South seceded so they could keep human beings in slavery & chains. They said so in the legislation they passed to secede. They then continued down the long chain of events to start the Civil War. That was their motivation.
Lincoln was the President of the US. When the South by-passed legal procedure and declared secession without permitting the citizens of southern states a voice in the decision, when they began attacking US property preliminary to seizing it, when they declared his attempt to feed his starving soldiers an act of war on his part then at long last he reluctently fought back. That was his motivation.
There is no reason at all for the two sides to have the same motivation.

Then you play your trump card. Lincoln (gasp) once acted as attorney for some people trying to recover some runaway slaves. JS, that is what lawyers do. They represent people in court under existing law. The question of guilt or approval doesn't enter into their decision to represent those people. They don't have to approve of murder to represent someone accused of murder.
Never-the-less you have made a good point. Lincoln began as a country boy in middle Illinois. The stories of how he incrementally advanced in his thinking are legion - his trip to New Orleans, his having a militant black freeman for his barber, his meeting at the White House with the famous black abolitionist. JS, Lincoln wasn't the least bit like you so he may be hard for you to understand. Lincoln had an outstanding mind, it gathered facts, it analysed, it argued and tested but the man was willing to change when shown he was wrong. He was also willing to fight very hard when he knew he was right. He was very different from those mint-julep swigging air heads with their arrogant disregard for the rights of their fellow man that you idolize and endlessly apologise for.
Ron
