"I already had struggles with Avery and his vaccine issue, and then stupid me did the revolution on him about a month ago and I had the aggression trouble. Well, the aggression thing has expanded and he is almost impossible to deal with I never know when he will explode (which he has done today and the past couple of days for no reason). I called his Holistic vet and told her I am at wits end and if I can't clear this up I will put him down as I can't have an unpredictable dog around much less have one in the ring.
"His signs.
"Started out as growling when touched when eating (this started 2 days after the Revolution, before this he didn't growl when being fed etc. I didn't allow this) and he seemed scared and would run out of the kitchen, then it was growling when he was laying down and he would sit up and get stiff his eyes would glaze over and he would growl ( to date has not bitten me)
"The past few days, growling when almost anytime touched, no apparent reason, sometimes he is fine up until today, no growling outside, well just a little bit ago, took outside started growling made sit got real stiff eyes glazed over started growling and then barking and growling at me, biting leash wouldn't walk, put a pinch collar on thinking being stubborn when ballistic attacked the leash started flipping out barely could get him inside this time trying to bite anything, got inside got collar off as he is still growling at me, then he panicked and ran and hid like something after him, laying in front of door, tried getting him to come to me, no response, if I walk near him starts growling.
"I have put dogs down for aggression but I know his is because of the medicine as he was not like this until 2 days after the Revolution and it started this fast, I thought at first might be as he is getting 6 months might be sexual mature, but it would not have come on overnight and this breed is not prone to aggression like this. Re: Revolution
Claudette, have you had bile acid tests done on this dog? I had one just like it and it turned out she had a liver shunt. This was discovered after medication. Mail me if you want further details.

Claudette, So sorry to hear about your dog. I have to wonder since his application of Revolution, if it is some sort of seizure activity he is exhibiting with his eyes glazed over and such. Even though he is growling and such, I have read some unusual seizure type episodes before and maybe this could be happening with Avery because of the Revolution? Just a thought....

Is it possible that there is some kind of inducement of encephalitis with this product? Sounds like it could be neurological and not behavior, but just an opinion.

That's what it seems like to me too, a neurological problem and not behavior that could have come on from the Revolution. Alfie's seizures started after his vaccines.

This sign that Avery is giving me is indeed a nuerological problem manifested in the form of behavioral problmes.
Avery is now being treated by a homepath and we are seeing HUGE improvements. The remedy chosen in Avery's case was Belladonna or deadly Nightshade as his symptons closely resembled the poisoning of this plant.
We are still having a few issues but they are greatly diminished.

I would give his body time to "clear out" the revolution product. In the mean time, please call Pet Medicine Chest, in Iowa. You can find them on the internet. I have used their products with good results to counteract chemical toxins.

What are the possible side effects of Revolution?
Like all medicines, Revolution has some side effects. The most common is hair loss at the site of application with or without inflammation (redness, flaking) in cats. Other side effects reported in cats and dogs include vomiting, diarrhea with or without blood, anorexia (decreased appetite), lethargy (sluggishness), salivation, rapid breathing, pruritus (itching), urticaria (welts, hives), erythema (skin redness), ataxia (incoordination), fever and rare instances of death. There have also been rare reports of seizures in dogs. If you have additional questions about possible side effects, talk to your veterinarian.
What else should I know about Revolution?
Revolution is not for use in humans. Revolution should be kept out of reach of children. In humans, Revolution may be irritating to skin and eyes. Reactions such as hives, itching and skin redness have been reported in humans in rare instances. Individuals with known hypersensitivity to Revolution should use the product with caution or consult a health care professional. Revolution contains isopropyl alcohol http://www.embbs.com/cr/alc/alc5.html and the preservative butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) http://www.inchem.org/documents/iarc/vol40/butylatedhydroxytoluene.html. Wash hands after use and wash off any product in contact with the skin immediately with soap and water. In case of human ingestion contact a doctor immediately.

I have used revolution on my mastiff with no side effects - other than the fact none of my dogs like having something wet on their backs. I have three smaller dogs but use other medications for fleas on them. But thanks to this site, I will be more aware of the drawbacks.
