OZ & OY beacons

Yesterday, 5 May, I was getting some good MS reflections from the OZ7IGY beacon. One burst was a good 25 seconds long. This was surprising as the beacon is currently running on a Windom antenna cut for 160/80/40 Metres! The 3-element Yagi is now being used by the OY6BEC beacon currently being burnt-in on 70.035MHz, as OZ/OY6BEC. Reflections this morning, 6 May, are quite good from this new beacon.

Re: OY beacons

Even if you can't hear the OY beacon, you can still see it, on the Photos page:

Re: OZ & OY beacons

Hi David
could this maybe be beacuse of mutiple lobes on the oversize antenna and with them having a high angle of radiation? hence the better reflections
I found this in the past on two meters I got much better reflections on my 12 ele beam when its clamp wore through the fibreglass stub mast and it tilted upwards, all of a sudden i was getting much better
pings and refelections on the band.I am am no antenna expert but that is how i would inturprete the good results.

cheers for now Mark
