The Standards dont specify a test frequency. If you havent had one done for a while then you should definitely do one. If the results are border line then you should first work out why, fix it and test again. If the results are excellent then test again sometime in the future (a judge in one recent case suggested annually). You should do a risk assessment to determine how often. Think about the type of surface (terrazzo or tiles), past test results, any recent incidents, age of the floor, traffic volume (some big shoppping centres test monthly), types of traffic, environment, if it ever gets wet, how often its cleaned and the methods used, any recent changes (like a strip & seal, surface treatment or new cleaning company) etc. Regardless of the slip test results, you must have good risk managment systems in place like mats, cleaning procedures, warning signs and regular inspections. Ask your cleaning company to provide test results to prove they are doing the right thing but back this up with your own independant testing now and then. |
