"Dogma"
What can I say. Wow. very powerful. Christ holding his own crucifix, so it seems to me. That really speaks to me as a Lay minister. Thanks Angus. |

I don't see that, But I think this is a brilliant piece of work. No, I see something totally different. When I look at Dogma I see an overbaring Diety and his hold over mankind. If you look at the mouth, it almost looks as though this diety is swallowing the world. Is that truly Christ on the cross, or is it a symbol of mankind, following blindly the teaching of old men who are angry and full of fire and hot air. Then again, it just might be Christ on that cross; regardless, the color of the figure on the cross is much colder than the colors of the diety holding it. There seems to be no life in that figure where as the colors of the one holding it, seems bright and sometimes brutal. Just my two cents. dev

Oh I love it, have any of you seen the film "Dogma"? It's all in the perspective and the interprative eye - ever wonder if said eye should be poked out? ;) I saw a force-feeding of sorts in this - what also blows me away about the cross is that it's equivalent today would be the bed on which a death-row inmate is laid on - so when I see a cross most times I feel as if I'm looking at something along that ilk or an electric chair around someone's neck - while I understand the deeper symbolism there, and that it is, in fact, a talisman and the power of said talisman for many, it just strengthens the force-feeding image for me....makes it a more bitter meal as it were......and if you haven't yet, go watch "Dogma".....and yes, read the disclaimers at the beginning, they're hysterically funny and the movie itself is brilliant |
