Less Is More Horsemanship Forum
Welcome to the Less Is More Forum. This forum is to post questions, comments, suggestions, ideas, principles, concepts and ideas regarding Natural Horsemanship and more importantly, the philosophy of "Less IS More". This is a place where like-minded people can come to throw away all the old traditional ways of training, and riding, and begin to experience a new FREEDOM in their relationship with their equine partners. Whether your goal is to learn more about natural horsemanship, get support for your own personal Less Is More belief, find solutions for problems that are hindering your relationship, begin a journey of discovery or healing, this is your home. Regardless of what the current "fads" are in traditional circles or natural horsemanship circles, I encourage you to think 'outside the box'. Feel free to post a message.

We had the BEST clinic I've ever been to!

OMG! The Edwardsville Clinic at Liberty Prairie Farm was UNBELIEVEABLE!!! Michael (and of course, Beth!)were great teachers and really helped people get with their horses. We had participants that were very new to Natural Horsemanship and even participants that were Parelli Level 3...EVERYONE got something fantastic out of it for them and their partners.
You couldn't have asked for anything better when it came to delivering a message for all skill levels.
Highlights: One lady had only had her horse for 4 weeks and had never done any kind of Natural Horsemanship, especially bareback- she was trotting by the end of the 2 days! Another lady hadn't ridden, much less done any kind of Natural Horsemanship, for over 20 years and was cantering her new partner for the first time...bareback and in a halter! Brittany T. was cantering Blade bareback and bridleless!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!! She got a HUGE round of applause.
I finally got my partner Whiskers and I together to do half-passes/ laterals at the trot to some of my favorite music! My husband Kevin was dragging tarps around with his TWH, Joe, and flying them like kites with no reaction for ANY horse there! Michael used my Paso Fino stallion, Pappi (who is terrified of men!)to cross a tarp in 27 minutes when all bets were against him UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!
(I never doubted it, but my boarders were not so sure since they had seen all this stallion could dish out over the past 3 years!)
All I can say is THANK YOU MICHAEL! for making our clinic so fun and our partnerships so successful!
Thank you to all the participants, horse and human alike!
The next one is scheduled for May 2008. It will be an advanced clinic so everyone who wants to participate or audit save the 1st weekend for another UNBELIEVEABLE weekend!!! We are reserving spots NOW...

Re: We had the BEST clinic I've ever been to!

It was truly AWESOME! It was the best experience I have ever had with Blade, and I learned soooo much! I can't wait until the next clinic!!! Reserve my spot Mary!! I will be encouraging everyone I know to come and participate/audit the next clinic! Liberty Prairie is so wonderful and and you all were so nice and made me feel so comfortable!
And also of course HUGE THANKS to Michael for giving me the experience of a LIFETIME! I had been waiting for Michael to come to our area and give a clinic, and I am SO happy I got to participate! It was WAY BETTER than I could have EVER imagined!

Also, Connie, Blade did not offer to buck at all! Thanks so much for helping me get a chiropractor and all the information you gave me!

Re: We had the BEST clinic I've ever been to!

Beth and I were so impressed with everything and everyone at the clinic.

NEVER BEFORE have we had a clinic where everyone had actually put the effort into making their horses partners. A lot of the credit goes to Mary for being to pick out perfect horses for people. Every human had their perfectly matched horse partner.

Mary and Whiskers were very fluid. Mary can flat out just ride like there is no tomorrow. And the lady knows her Pasos. By the way, I love that "Pappi". Lots of "heart" inside that Paso stallion. Mary is a great host and goes out of her way to make people welcome!

Cynthia and CK were great. Bunches of laughs with Cynthia all weekend long. I wont even tell all of you about her flying dismount! Right Cynthia? (wink wink)

Cindy and Rocky were a pleasure to watch as they cantered for the first time together bareback!!! Cindy's smile was so big and infectious after cantering that she had me smiling! I was (am) very proud of her. Made my heart warm to watch ehr smile when she cantered.

Kevin and his TWH named Joe were quite a funny site. These two are two peas in a pod! There isnt anything that this horse wont do for Kevin. And Joe is only 5 years old! Man, by the time this horse "matures", they will be unstoppable.

Dan and Cowboy. Looking at them makes you see a partnership plus more. He truly loves that horse. Cowboy is built like John Wayne...big with slow deliberate movements yet full of grace. You cant help but pick this horse out of a crowd. Soft eye. These two guys should be doing some type of event together. They would be great.

Polly and Missy. Missy is a typical teaching mare. She made young Polly work for EVERYTHING and Polly did just that. Polly has great form when riding and trotting her horse. Looked fantastic. I had Polly switch horses on Sunday for awhile. To Polly's credit she stated later that she wanted to stick with Missy. Way to go Polly! I believe in you!!!!!!

Toni and Pedro (formerly knows as "Blue") We jokingly changed her horse's name 5 times during the clinic but 'Pedro' seemed to stick. What a perfect match for Toni. She has only had him 4 weeks and they did very well together. Toni sat his trot and handled him as if they had been partners for years. No doubt he will fill in the gaps and take care of Toni should the biscuits hit the fan. cant wait to see what they are like in 6 months

Brittany and Blade. Brittany was the only real "visitor" to this farm. (she needs to seriosuly find a way to permanently move Blade to Mary's farm) Her Arabian gelding Blade did not act like a typical Arab. Oh, he was smart and watchful but very calm and fairly and quietly confident. Brittany came to work out some kinks and improve her partnership. On Sunday, I loaned her my progress string and she and Blade cantered bareback and bridle-less and he never once offered to buck! Inspiring!!! All this from a young lady who has had to learn NH all by herself. She comes from a traditional lesson barn. hang in there Brittany!!!

All in all....i cant wait to come see all of you again! We will certainly go bigger and better next time around. I am already planning it now!!!

Thank you for making beth and I feel welcomed. We feel like we now have some new friends.

Re: We had the BEST clinic I've ever been to!

Thanks for all the nice words Michael!
You made me blush and that isn't easy!
We truly enjoyed yours and Beth's company. You made our farm full of life. Everyone is so excited about the next clinic (huh, Brit???)
REALLY looking forward to more advanced (trail & arena) clinics at our place. PLUS we will add another Foundation Clinic for people if the interest is there.
(I already have 3 participants and some auditors for that. )
We hope everyone within a 5 hour drive could come and participate. We have plenty of accomidations close by and your horses are treated as if they were at home!
